Es el reflejo de la sombra de la muchacha que sostiene una cámara, en un lugar imposible de recordar a estas horas. 

Yo sé que tenía hambre. Porque casi siempre siento hambre cuando estoy al lado de un charco. Y quizás ustedes no entienden por qué los charcos pueden producirme esa sensación de vacío en el estómago, como yo tampoco lo entiendo a veces. Pero si lo miras fijo, el charco es más hondo de lo normal y puede que hasta se coma tus pensamientos y los míos… entonces eso de entender o no entender habrá quedado atrás.

En aquel momento, quizás, ya se había tragado mis pensamientos.
 
Los charcos son criaturas voraces y suelen reflejar las sombras, hasta de los muertos. Pero no hay que llamarlos, una mano puede salir de pronto de ese charco y no sabrás qué hacer (gritarás), como yo, que me quedé en una pieza cuando mi sombra cayó hecha una madeja en ese charco y por un instante me libré de ella. ¿Recuerdas haber muerto alguna vez de pie? Esta que está aquí, sí. 

Si mueres de pie, lo primero que te abandona es tu sombra. Todo ocurre en cuestión de segundos. Apenas lo notas y es porque te concentras demasiado en morir. Si no lo sabías, al morir el tiempo se ralentiza. Pruébalo. No te vayas a morir pensando que estás muriendo, mira primero a tu alrededor a ver si por casualidad tu sombra te acompaña. Vas a notar que no, que ella se aparta de inmediato para que puedas salir del plano terrenal tranquilo.

Le creí pero más me fascinó toda aquella locura. Nada, era un acertijo. 

Para el té, llevaba yo unas galletas artesanales de maracuyá y limón, con frutos secos. Pero me entretuve mirando el charco, y las comunicaciones en La Habana estaban imposibles, porque creo que un submarino ruso se había enredado con el cable de fibra óptica que viene de Venezuela y por esa razón, allá también el Internet fallaba. 

Cero notificaciones. Hive estaba más silencioso que una momia. 

Sentí que estaba sola, y no precisamente al costado del Danubio, sino en el borde de un charco pestilente en el que intentaba retratar mi sombra, casi enredada en unos cables de telefonía y electricidad que le aportaban algo de movimiento a la foto. 

En esas aguas profundas nadaba esta cubana cuando alguien tocó tímidamente mi hombro. Me volteé de inmediato asustada; -rayos, dije. Era ella… creo que alta, helada, pero con unos ojos profundos y tibios. Sonreímos y rápido trazamos el plan de ir hasta el parque Lennon, que no quedaba lejos, y sentarnos allí cerquita de la escultura de bronce del líder de los Beatles, que observa a todos los transeúntes parsimoniosa y sin lentes. 

A la vista de los árboles, degustaríamos el té y las galletas. Era buen plan, de inicio. Regresé la mirada al charco y ya la sombra no estaba. Creo que se había alejado de mí para que yo pudiera morir en el plano real donde me hallaba y saltara a esa otra dimensión en la que la muchacha pálida y yo nos encontrábamos. No sé, gente, si estoy aquí hablando sola o si queda alguien. Estiro mi mano a ratos y solo escucho gritos. No teman. No teman. Es solo un reflejo y una sombra.
