Desde la antigüedad hasta la mitad del siglo XX, los cocineros y cocineras habían guardado celosamente las listas de ingredientes y recetas de sus suculentos platillos. Solo los afortunados aprendices y luego de largos años de trabajo al lado de estos maestros podían acceder a este privilegiado conocimiento. En nuestra vida cotidiana sucede algo similar, las madres o suegras les trasmiten las recetas a sus hijas o yernas con el ingrediente secreto para poder cocinar un determinado platillo que cumpla con el requisito universal y casi dogmático “Así es como le gusta a mi hijo” o el “Así es que se hace”.

En nuestra casa hace unos días y con motivo de la celebración de los 20 años de mis hijos David Alejandro (@davidpena21) y David Ricardo Peña Fermín, mi hija y mi esposa emprendiendo la faena de elaborar la torta para tan magno evento familiar.  Allí en la cocina y campaneando un vaso con una rica sangría comenzó el ritual para hacer la torta.

La primera condición para que ellas inicien la realización de este sabroso postre es algo que no está esta ninguna receta, pueden buscar en google, y es la expulsión de todos de la cocina. Es algo como si la presencia mía o de los muchachos fuera a tener una fuerte interacción magnética con los ingredientes para evitar que la harina no se una con los demás elementos. Que vaina con las creencias en la cocina. No queda más remedio que salir de esta área durante toda la tarde jajaja.

Al ritmo del sonido de los cubos de hielos danzando en la sangría, continuaron con su ardua labor de batir la torta. Desde lejos se escuchaba la algarabía de las risas de la interacción madre e hija, en esta amena tarde del 21 de Enero, haciendo y hablando sobre la decoración a la mencionada torta. Ya según ellas, todos los ingredientes fueron colocados y mezclados con la velocidad y sobre todo con el giro adecuado del batidor porque si no, la torta no levanta.

>To the rhythm of the sound of ice cubes dancing in the sangria, they continued with their hard work of beating the cake. From afar you could hear the hubbub of laughter from the mother and daughter interaction, on this pleasant afternoon of January 21, making and talking about the decoration of the aforementioned cake. Already according to them, all the ingredients were placed and mixed with the speed and above all with the proper turn of the mixer because if not, the cake does not rise.

Una vez colocado en el respectivo bol o tazón la mezcla va a encontrarse con el rojo calor de la hornilla de nuestro horno eléctrico, allí comienza la magia y la harina se convierte en pan en este caso en torta. Entre risas y sangría, en tan solo un minutico la deliciosa mezcla se convirtió en algo que dice Elvis crespo en una de sus canciones “pan quemaoo demuéstrale que no eres pan quemaoo”.

El olor característico hizo que todos los exilados saliéramos de nuestros refugios y corrimos hacia la cocina, allí estaba, la evidencia más clara que a esa torta le había faltado el ingrediente secreto más importante: La atención.

El refrán popular es muy sabio “no se puede asar dos conejos a la vez ya que uno se quema”. En la cocina como en la vida no ´podemos distraernos, ese minutico en el cual dejamos de prestar la atención plena a lo que estamos haciendo nos puede conducir al fracaso. 

>The popular saying is very wise "you cannot roast two rabbits at the same time since one will burn". In the kitchen as in life we cannot be distracted, that minute in which we stop paying full attention to what we are doing can lead us to failure.

Como el final de la tarde se acercaba y la hora de picar la torta no les quedó más remedio que entre risas y con todos en la cocina que hacer una nueva torta.
