It hits Ada when Eze tells her he now has a fiancée and she should not call him again.

“As how “, Ada soliloquizes to herself, uttering out “why now “without even knowing.

She thought maybe it was something like "April fool", but “this is June,” she said to herself, and couldn't bear to face the impromptu realization.

From her perspective, she needs to push it off her chest so she locked herself in and indulged in the intake of champagne she ordered to pop up at tonight's supposed visit if Eze comes along.

The day goes by, and now the months climb on, and Eze's number couldn't connect, and from WhatsApp, it seems Ada's number was blocked. This is when shock waves penetrate her body to the heart that Eze has ghosted off.

“ I threw caution to the wind by quitting my job as planned and wanted Eze to make the necessary arrangements so that the relationship would move to the next stage,” she reckoned, and continued.

“He would have told me from day one so that I would not waste my time and plan my life evolving his” she concluded, climbing on the bed located opposite her.

She was not even given the chance to explain to Eze that she had traveled to Abuja and logged into a hotel near Garki where Eze said he was living.

And now all her friends who could console and talk it through were not around, as she was ashamed to call them because they had advised her not to go on with the decision of leaving Anambra and quitting her job.

The deed has been done, and what is next was what came to her mind, and she did a conference call with all her friends one evening like that.

So you have been lying to us all the way, " Ogechi replied when she let the cat out of the bag. Ngozi, her closest of them, told her that she should come back to Anambra and pick up her life from where she stopped, but Ada says no, that she will rather restart her life there in Abuja.

Deborah said that it is her fault and she should face the consequences, and they all decided that if she is not ready to come back, then that means she doesn't want their friendship again. They told her that the reason they did not like her was that she was stubborn, adamant, and naive.

And only managed to be her friend because she is fortunate and good-looking.

“Do not call us again”, they said, landing a hook punch on her left stomach side and ending the call. 

“But they never told me any of this before, why now in climax mode” she ruminated.

And as day went by, she tried to call them, but they all ignored her calls, while some even ghosted off too, and their silence and choice otherwise made it clear that they had no future together.


This twist, in turn, almost drained her as she started to fail in the aspect of self-care, self-love, and all the trauma, leading her to depression, crept into her.

This made her remember the loss of her parents at a very young age, and it struck her with a tragic sense, a victim mentality, and “why me” sounds repeatedly in her head.

The position she met herself made her have a feeling that she had lost something important that wouldn't be back, and a hollow, lonely, and sad feeling was felt inside her, often linked with grief or confusion. The change of what was familiar brings her this discomfort rooted in her.

Then after three months, she was lying on her bed as usual and just felt like turning on the television set, and what she saw was “your purpose is bigger than you” was written boldly on the screen, and other programs switched in.

This statement touched her soul and she repeated it.

Then she started to ask herself some questions like ; 

Is it living with Eze and getting married to him that she had imagined, which later turned sour, or sticking with her friend through thick and thin, which later resulted in bitterness, was the purpose worth crashing for?

“No”, she answered herself and said, “ I have slept on it”.

“If my purpose is bigger than me, then I am off purpose,” she ruminated.

She stood up sluggishly and dragged herself to the bathroom, and after that, she reasoned she couldn't continue like this, paying for hotel bills, and it's been five months already.

She searched for a nearby apartment in Garki and applied for a comfortable apartment which took her a week to affirm the proceedings and location.
Three weeks later, she packed up to move to her new apartment and then went back to the drawing board.

The bitter so-called situation she found herself in became a sweet one at the end.

Ada took it upon herself to be a part of something greater, embodying actions that can be impactful to others or the world by starting her online counseling as a graduate in Psychology.

“She was like, how come it comes to the fact that she lost concentration. She hadn't even thought of starting her own business in Anambra, so this is an eye opener”. She reasoned.

She made it a purpose to serve others, knowing that she was not just here herself but for a cause, people, or legacy. 
“If it is called sacrifice or growth, I accept it,” she noted, knowing that stepping out of her comfort zone, being selfless, and becoming more than she thinks she is was required.

After eight months of her online project, she wrote a book called “Psychological Effect of Loss and Abandonment,” which sold boomerangs, and her name became known worldwide after a year.

One afternoon, she was having a coffee with a few new friends who offered a genuine connection as they were discussing the new project and foresight for betterment in growth as it is a continuous process and her inbox beeps, she left it for check later believing that it is some people who congratulate her on her book success.

It was a surprise that all the messages she saw were from Eze and her friends.

“Where did you go, where have you been, and I have been trying your number,” was all she saw.

She just replied with “cut it off, my existence is not about me, it is bigger than me. Thank you for making me remember that during our involvement and I really appreciate that we all stick to the present and continue from there”.

Sincerely, Ada knew without them she may not have balanced things up and wished them all the best, knowing that they made way for a better connection with realization.
