Every time Lora looked back at how messed up her life was some few back and how unbelievable good it was now, that always gave her a reason to believe in the supernatural. Some few years ago, Lora had contemplated taking her own life after she had been robbed and raped one night at her place.

A few weeks after the robbery, Lora found out that she was pregnant. “There was no way I’m keeping this child.” Lora had sworn before going to the pharmacy to buy drugs that she believed if overdosed would kill her. It was at the pharmacy that she had met Ted. He had noticed how distressed she looked and had approached her.

Something about Ted had made Lora feel so comfortable and safe that she had ended up telling him everything she had been through and how she planned on ending it all. Ted had been shocked and had instead pleaded with her not to end her life. He had offered to not leave her side until he was sure that she was safe and that was how they both became friends.

That was two years ago, she and Ted were now happily married with a kid who would be clocking two years old in a few months time. Everything was great, her life was perfect and nothing could mess it up, or at least that was what Lora thought until two days ago when Ted started acting strange. All of a sudden, Ted became so absentminded and each time Lora jolted him back to reality, he always had this look on his face, the look of fear.

All effort from Lora to know what the problem was were futile until one particular evening, when Ted called Lora into their bedroom. The look he had on his face as she sat down next to him was all Lora needed to know that what ever it was Ted was about to say, it was probably very serious.

“I had hoped this day would never come” Ted had began. “I know that after I say all I’m about to say, you will never forgive me. But I just want you to know that I love you, so much” Ted said, he could tell that Lora was confused about what he was saying and that he was about to lose this beautiful woman but he had caused her so much pain and it was time he told her the truth.

“I was among the men who had robbed you that night.” Ted dropped the bombshell and watched as the expression on Lora’s face went from being confused, to shock and gradually to anger. “We had been told that no one would be at home that night, if we knew that the house wasn’t empty, we wouldn’t have gone in.”

Lora closed her eyes for about a second, she was receiving so much information and was finding it hard to process all of it at once. “Wait, you’re saying..”

“There’s no time to explain Lora” Ted cut her short. “Me raping you had not been part of the plan too but..”

“Wait, you were the one who raped me?!” Lora was shocked to her bones.

“What I’m trying to say Lora, is that we’re in danger. They’re back. The robbery at your house was our last job and we had all agreed to move out of town for a year or two but I had stayed back. I couldn’t just leave after what I had done and wanted to know how you were fairing, so I had stayed back and watched you. Until that day when I saw you leave the clinic crying and had later gone into the pharmacy to go get some drugs, then I had decided to approach you. I suspected you were pregnant so I…”

“So you decided to come make everything right by getting married to me?” Lora asked, screaming at the top of her voice. 

“I was only trying to help.”

“Help?” Lora asked. “You were the one who ruined my life.”

“And I’m sorry about that and have been trying to do everything I can to fix that. The only problem now is that the group is back and they weren’t happy when they found out that I got married to you. They said I could spill the truth and get them all arrested so they had asked me to walk away or get killed.”

“And how does that concern me?” Lora asked, it was obvious that she was upset and no longer care what happens to him.

“They gave me a deadline, today.”

“Good.”

Ted sighed. “You don’t get it, do you? They’re coming for both of us.” 

Just then, there was a loud bang at the door.
