Why join Steemit? An introduction

Hello happy Steemians!

Although I’ve been on Steem for a few days and already had some really cool discussions, I’d yet to introduce myself. It was a struggle to start writing today, but here it is. Call me pv-p (pronounced 'p or not p'). My reasons for coming to Steem are many, such as leaving all the BS on farcebook. But finding blockchain-based social media was a real sell!

Why have I stayed? The community! In a couple days I’ve had way more engaging discussions than other social media, with a much nicer crowd here. :)

I'll be posting a lot about (political) philosophy and exploring the transition from the Modern to postie period (pomo, post-structuralist, post-Kantian, etc.), and to what’s beyond.

What is beyond??

Complexity! (I’ll do a post on this topic soon, for now I'll just say its a worldview based on some developments in science)

What does complexity mean for governance, policy, regulation? What are its ethical implications? H ow can it help us build a more self-reliant and resilient society? Etc., etc. Most importantly though, it is a branch of knowledge which I find has a huge practical impetus. That’s why I’m not just interested in theory but also research methods and project management, and how complexity transforms these areas.

Having grown up in the Alps, I love the wild and am amazed at the creativity and resilience of life. Agroecology and permaculture are naturally two fields of interest (pun intended) which I have gravitated towards, and have really fed my understanding of the interconnection of things. But more than that, gardening, foraging, mushroom hunting, all those give me a sense of meaning and peace now. Nothing more rewarding than getting your food from the garden or forest!

Those are some of the things which blow my mind away. When that’s not happening I like to create, build things, learn, and live outside. I don’t normally share stuff from my personal life online, but have really been inspired by some of the things I’ve seen posted, like @occupywallets and @opheliafu. While on Steemit I hope to share my passion for knowledge and self-reliance but mostly hope to learn (and already have) from other Steemians! :)

In the meantime, here’s a taster of the creative stuff I will be sharing.

Here is a way to pick things up for you out of the gate...https://steemfollower.com/?r=8643.  Get signed up, when you do, reply this message then there is more good info if you are interested.  No problem, these first few weeks on here are brutal, but you can really grow fast if you align yourself well and really get after it.  I am not worried that you will definitely be able to both @pv-p.

Glad that you found a new home on the blockchain @pv-p ! I left Facebook for essentially the same reasons as you did, the content and other factors persuaded me to seek out this new platform and try it out then I fell in love with it!

Check out www.steemtools.com for a list of steem compatible apps that you may find interesting. Including dtube and D sound, which are decentralized video and music platforms.

Thanks @occupywallets, that really means something coming from a colourful soul like you! :) I'm writing a short(ish) philosophy rant right now and will be posting another collage tomorrow! I'm also thinking about posting a music video, you know Marcel Dadi? :)

I used to pick chanterelles in the mountains of Washington state
-> I didn't know that chanterelles also grew wild in North America! I thought they were a European mushroom. Did you live in Washington? If so, lucky! The north west looks amazing! So much wilderness!

@ me for stuff I should see, I just got pulled into helping launch some new websites to sell my art and ideas! And chanterelles, I have seen them up and down the coast of WA, OR, northern CA, and in BC Canada as well... I even saw them in Juneau, AK, but was wary of picking because I didn't have a local with me... But in WA I would pick them on a hike up a mountain, then cook them into the dinner that night as we camped... Great times... (Where are you? I am currently in TX)

I like your crypto posts, are you going to be doing more reviews? I've been thinking of doing something like that for myself + significant events of interest etc. to get a better picture of what's going on with a particular crypto. The rest of your blog is great too, lots of good info. Followed :)
