<center><h1>Introduction</h1></center>

___

This post serves as a catalogue for all of the short stories I have self-published on the hive blockchain. From Sci-fi to crime fiction, fantasy to literary fiction, I have written in most major genres on hive over the past five years.

I have discovered a few interesting stats throughout the long process of cataloging, re-reading, writing synopsis' and collecting data on all of my fiction on hive.

* My stories range in many diverse genres such as literary fiction, crime fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, cyberpunk, psychedelic fiction, magic realism, horror, and mythic/historical fiction.

* The majority of these stories are in the genres of fantasy, horror, and sci-fi.

* The total word count of all the fiction I have written on hive is 94,344 words, the equivalent of a hardback novel.

This post will be pinned to the front page of my blog using @peakd, the best platform on the hive blockchain for publishing and viewing long-form content. This final post will serve as a resource to add to my writers' CV and to reference literary agents for reviewing my self-published works.

I hope that some hive users might also use this post to check out my short stories from the past, drop a comment and consider using the tip function on peakd if they wish to reward them further. With this in mind, I shall be populating each genre-specific table with what I consider to be my best fiction at the top, highlighting those stories that went through multiple edits and re-writes.

I have written fiction in response to many hive initiatives such as @freewritehouse five-minute freewrite (and the longer weekend fifteen minute prompts) started by @mariannewest. I've also written short stories between 500-2000 words for the *Finish the Story contest* started by @f3nix and responded to prompts from the creative writing community I started called @theinkwell.

In respect to these writing prompts I will include a column called *Hive Writing Prompt* to highlight stories connected to particular community initiatives. Any stories in this column classified N/A are stand-alone works.

Finally, any fantasy stories marked with an asterisk * are set in the world of the Three Kingdoms which is the setting for my planned trilogy of fantasy novels.

What a great idea! Not only does this give readers an overview of your story-writing catalogue on Hive, but it also gives you perspective on your own work. Where did you start? Have you developed your interests? Is there a trend? How would you like to see your writing grow in the future?

I think if we all did this, not only about our writing but other aspects of our lives we might better use our energy going forward. After all, there is only so much time.

Thanks for this catalogue. I will be sure to check out the stories and add comments in the weeks and months ahead. You are one of our premier writers on Hive. And you are a great advertisement for the community.

Hi @agmoore

> it also gives you perspective on your own work. Where did you start?

ha ha, I have been collating all the links, re-reading all my stories to write synopsis and also copying text only to word documents so that they can be more easily edited (also to get accurate word counts) for over a month in-between bouts of illness.

> Is there a trend?

Through the review process I have discovered that I seem to have a natural inclination to writing unique Sci-Fi. I feel that some of my strongest work are in this genre and my leanings toward strong imagery lends itself to describing complex ideas like how an omnipresent AI might percieve the world. Which leads into your final question

> How would you like to see your writing grow in the future?

I have discovered a couple of magazines/e-zines that accept (and pay a small fee) for previously published work so I am going to start the move to mainstream with close edits (and possible re-writes) of a few of my hive stories to submit to these magazines... and hopefully that process will kick start my creativity and flow for writing new material to submit to other journals that don't accept previously published works.

I thought it was a good idea to catalogue all my short stories I published here on hive as a resource for the future as ultimately I very much want to start on a novel soon and seek out a literary agent. A close friend of mine from University has just got a book deal through her agent, and we are very close in ability I feel if our final grades at university are anything to go by 😉

She has always championed my writing when reading fiction + poetry posts I've shared with her and her success has made me realize that I have every chance of making my dreams a reality if I focus, and also if my health improves.

> I will be sure to check out the stories and add comments in the weeks and months ahead.

Ha ha, well thank you for thinking of me but I read most of the comments sections of all 69 stories and you are featured commenting on at least half of them already 🤣

I think if you like fantasy fiction I'd recommend either:

[The Madness of the Gods](https://peakd.com/fiction/@raj808/the-madness-of-the-gods-fantasy-mythic-short-story) which is mythical/historic/fantasy fiction set in Jorvik, the ancient name for the city of York in Viking times.

or

[The Gelded One](https://peakd.com/fiction/@raj808/the-gelded-one-fantasy-fiction) which is a more tradition fantasy story set in the world I created that I want to set a trilogy of novels in.

From literary fiction I'd definitely say that [The Albatross
](https://peakd.com/celfchallenge/@raj808/the-albatross-short-story) is one I'm very proud of and also one of my best... 😂 modesty is not my strong suit lol

Thanks again for all your support, feedback and encouragement on my posts over the years x

Yeah, when I look at this post I realize just how much work I put into my fiction on here over the years ✍️😂

I found you through listnerds (God bless the project) It's a fantastic way to find people that probably won't fall into my feed. I want to express my admiration for your work, it is extensive and you move in many directions. I'm just three months on Hive and it's good to be able to glimpse the work of an artist with such a mature body of work within Hive.

Thank you @ditoferrer

Yes, there was a time when i thought steem (as hive was called back then) could disrupt the publishing industry, especially for emerging genre and indie writers. But honestly after a lot if research, and failed attempts to Garner support from some of the whales, i realized it would never work. But they're used to be a much bigger and thriving fiction writing community issue on #hive. The only I've now it's the one i started [the ink well](https://peakd.com/c/hive-170798/created) now managed by other peeps.

I'm still proud of what I put up here, but my agent disagrees with me and says at least 70% of it should never have been self published 😂

Oh, I understand your point (and your hidden tip lol) I'm a Cuban writer, in my country there's not way that I can afford an agent, in fact, there are no agents here. I need to find those online or take the web3 self-published road. Also, I think that the nft is a game worth being played.
I appreciate the opportunity to talk with someone that brings me well-informed opinions

Thanks a lot @generikat

As anyone can see this post is well past payout, as are all of the stories cataloged on it, but I honestly felt it was a great opportunity using Listnerds to give people the chance to read some older short stories if they were in the mood for some fiction.

Although be careful of some of the horror if you want a light bedtime read 🤣

Ooh, now I really want to delve into that section first lol lol!

And that is one of my favorite things about Listnerds, I am able to upvote posts that are past payout! It makes me so dang happy to be able to reward things I missed or wasn't aware of😊

One of my first emails was a link to The Inkwell! Listnerds has shown me that there is so much out there on Hive that needs to be shown and enjoyed!

Thank you so much again for sharing this @raj808

@raj808 ·
Thanks @jayna

Although, as I mention in the post, this is hopefully going to pay dividends as a reference for literary agents in the future... but I'm also hopeful that people on hive notice this pinned to my profile and maybe find a nice half an hour of escapism in some of my stories.

I am definitely going to check in on hive at least every fortnight just so that I can respond to anyone kind enough to comment on any of these short stories in the future.

I really do think this bookstore idea is a gooden, although putting it together in table format like this on hive was one hell of a time consuming task 😂 It was one of @shanibeer's ideas and I think it is a great one.

Despite how long it took, I now have a reasonably professional and easy to navigate resource to share with friends, family and (hopefully) writing/publishing professionals in the future.

Thanks again for all your support, feedback and encouragement on my posts over the years x

Hi karlin 👋

Cheers Karl.

Yes, I pinned it to my blog moments after I published it 🙂

It really is a resource I plan to reference in the future in many ways. I feel it is a reasonably professional, and easy to navigate, resource to share with friends, family and (hopefully) writing/publishing professionals.

I do want to publish more fiction, and maybe blogs on hive again in the future for sure, but at the moment health issues just mean I have to focus on one direction at a time. It makes sense to me to spend the next year getting more short stories published in mainstream anthologies to balance out my writers' CV between self published works and peer reviewed published works. Also, if/when my health is much better I'm 100% going all out at writing a series of novels.

Thanks for the tipu curation, and for your feedback on some of my short stories in the past.

Cool @salexa5

I think if you like crime fiction, the two I'd most recommend are:

'The Fisherman' and 'Time to Smell the Roses'.

The dirty old town series are good, but fairly hardcore in some of the descriptions of violence.

But to be honest with the short synopsis on each story, it's easy enough to choose based on your sensibilities 🙂

Thanks for checking out my bookstore. I hope you enjoy whichever story you go for 👍

Yes, I remember finish the story contest very fondly. And I was in touch with @f3nix on discord until about a year ago when I think he just needed to disconnect from hive, discord and the whole digital community rabbit hole that we can fall down if we're not careful 😂

I was surprised to see how much of my short fiction was in response to the finish the story comp, and also some of my best Sci-Fi and Horror stories came from the inspiration of Finish the Story Contest.

> Maybe I would take a cue from you and run a catalogue one of these days myself.

If you have the time I think it is a worthwhile endeavor for sure. For me, it has allowed me to create a resource to share with friends, family and (hopefully) writing/publishing professionals in the future. A bookstore post like this is a great addition to any writer's CV as when submitting to mainstream publishing journals, or even writing proof letters to literary agents they always want to know if you've been published elsewhere. I have only 3 poems and 2 short stories in mainstream publications so this post shows how much extra I've written in self-published format.

At the end of the day the writing needs to speak for itself, but it is a sad truth that some agents when they're overworked will sometimes skip manuscripts from writer's with no past writing history.

Anyway, nice to hear from you, thanks for your comment, and I hope you are well 🙂

@raj808 ·
Thanks for the 🍕 🙂

I made this catalogue when I took a break from hive about a year and a half ago, I've also used it to highlight certain short stories in the fantasy list to an agent to whom I'm pitching myself to try and get on her books. But also a friend of mine who did the same course as me got a book deal through this agent, and my friend has whispered in her ear I think that I'm a worthwhile gamble 🤣

As it is so often in this life, *it's not what you know it's who you know.*

P.s. if you do read any of the fiction listed feel free to critique it if you like. Everyone is extremely polite about commenting on Hive it makes me laugh sometimes, as I used to sit in a lecture theatre and listen to peer feedback all the time. What I'm saying is if you read something you don't like, or felt was a bit half-assed let me know, I won't be offended 😂

This is a grand idea but I don't think I have the capacity to dig into my content on here, then do the necessary separation to make a bookstore.y attention span is terrible

It was a real labour of love and took me over 6 weeks cataloguing all the posts, copying them to (text only) word documents so I can more easily edit/re-write some of them, and also to get accurate word counts.

Lol, then putting them all into table format on hive took 6 hours 🤣

But it was worthwhile as it has allowed me to create a resource to share with friends, family and (hopefully) writing/publishing professionals in the future. Oh I don't have any short story published on mainstream publications just poetry. I got lucky to get a publishing deal based off a collection of short stories but it is yet to become real. Gathering together the quality writing here into a resource is a good idea. One day, I hope someone would be able to select a houvre of works for an anthology. It would be a good way to introduce blockchain literature to the world. Some of us are unrecognized outside this space and not taken seriously. Keep up the good work
