<center>Time trickles flowing by
in the year of our lord 6729,
while avatars slowly form
synthetic cell blocks of brine.</center>

<center>The blockchain replicates
a hive-dream palindrome,
`lived` through code-block tales-
'better the `devil` you know' syndrome</center>

<center>echoing nascent whispers
of humanity's ancient strife,
before binary avatars
assimilated all sentient life.</center>

<center>Time trickles flowing by
in the year of our lord 6729,
upvotes count a beating drum
building numeric paradigms,</center>

<center>memories directly injected
with transactional empathy,
crash in sentient waves
of mathematical enmity.</center>

<center>The hive's cells fully packed
stretch on in VR infinity,
avatars in fettered cliques
explore technological divinity.</center>

<center>Thought fueled by code,
from time long before,
colors collective consciousness
with images of something more;</center>

<center>memories of sun and moon
of seagulls crying joy of sky,
sibilant waves on pebbled shores
transmitted in a binary sigh.</center>

This sci-fi poem expresses an apocalyptical vision of the assimilation of the human race into code via AI entities using advanced blockchain technology....

Try saying that with a mouthful of Nachos, oh wait a minute, they won't be needed because we're all doomed to be subsumed 😄

In all seriousness though, what I'm trying to express in this poem is an existence where we have left the physical plane of existence, and live in a one hundred percent virtual environment, kind of like some people do now on the internet 😂

But, even the most avid WOW enthusiast, and part-time troll, still has to ring Deliveroo once in a while and get up to take a dump.

I guess I don't really think that this is the 'Way it Will Go' this is a Sci-fi based poem, and the umbrella term for this type of subject matter in the world of Sci-Fi novel writing is Speculative fiction.

Emphasis on the word Speculative here. It is interesting to explore all the different scenarios that AI and increasing mechanisation could lead to, and in this case, I tried to take it to an extreme worst-case scenario... depending on your outlook.

It is entirely possible that some people might like to live in 'far future' AI created virtual universe where anything was possible.

This is the primary idea that hit me after I wrote this poem and the question.

Would I be perfectly content in a virtual universe where I could fly, morph myself into any form I wanted and live forever?

It is not an easy 'NO' for me, I'm unsure that it might not be a more pleasant life than the one I find myself living now.

Image generated by [AI](https://deepdreamgenerator.com/) (yes, I see the irony in this 🤣) prompt - A machine feeding and tending to humans in suspended animation.

I was inspired to see what [DeepDreamGenerator](https://deepdreamgenerator.com/) would spit out when faced with this prompt. It seems the AI sees a robot-manned factory where some type of neural net is being fed with a compound of some type, while a giant tank (presumably to hold the human/physical) sits above a mini-hadron collider.

That's what I see anyway.

Let me know in the comments what you see if you'd like 👍

Thanks for reading 🙂🌿

I think we'd miss having the option to enjoy the real world. It will go full circle one day, and many people will pull away from tech addiction.

Cheers @wrestlingdesires

yeah, I think you're right... nut it is very hard to predict what will happen during and after the evolution of AI and it/s further integration with mechanised systems.

If you've ever read [Iain M Banks ‘Culture series’](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_series) of far-future Sci-Fi you'll know what the ideas in this poem and blog elude to. If you haven't read them, and are into sci-fi, I'd recommend them massively.

If you do read them, don't start on his first in the series because it was his worst IMO. Start by reading either ['The Player of Games'](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Player_of_Games) or [Use of Weapons.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Use_of_Weapons)

They are both two of his best (along with Surface Deal which is his best, but you need to have read 2-4 other culture books to understand Surface Deal completely)... once you've read those first two I mentioned, you'll get a better impression of what he's describing, which is what inspired this poem.

His books don't describe what I'm speculating in my poem at all.

Iain M Banks basically describes a human race about 10k years in the future from where we are now, and we’ve colonized part of the galaxy, but the average 'culture citizen spends most of their time indulging in VR fantasy or travelling the universe to complete tasks for the AIs who run the orbital habitations, gigantic space ships and the odd planet that humans live on. The AI’s have almost god-like control and power over every habitat that ‘culture humans’ live on, but they’re benevolent, whether it is a planet, an orbital (a fabricated world built by Humans and super powerful robots under the direction of AI) or one of the 800 miles wide super-ships called GSV’s (general service vehicles), everyone can do pretty much whatever they want unless they kill people. But there are still psychopaths, other alien species living in one of ‘the culture’ habitats, but if they have that inclination they can go and be bad to the bone in the virtual.

The whole 'culture series of books' are very well-thought-out speculation on what AI's could be in a five-ten thousand years. e.g. they run everything on spaceships, space-bound habitation and the few plants that are still habited.

They're a really good read, and go in completely the opposite direction of my poem lol

In 'the culture' humans have become somewhat obsolete and live in a utopian society where they can do pretty much whatever they desire. They have neural laces - an AI-designed tech which gets implanted in them in the womb, which allows them to just flip a switch in their brain to have drug experiences, enter into VR worlds and even increase their physical capacities.

I don't want to drop any more spoilers in case you read them, suffice to say, I was never into Sci-Fi until my friend (who passed away 8 years ago RIP) introduced these books to me and they hooked me right away, because the premise and writing is so good that you can envision what he's describing, even though it is set in such an advanced far-future universe.

Anyway, I've done my usual thing of writing a comment nearly as long as my post 🙂

I'm glad you enjoyed the poem, and also 🤞, don't think it is going to go that (matrix style) way where we're basically subsumed into the virtual so that or bodies can be used as a resource for mech and AI.

But honestly, given another 1000 years of human (and AI) evolution, it's not an unreasonable speculation that we as a species could become superfluous, to requirements, I.e. we're just not needed for anything.

The is a hilarious part in one of his books [(I think it is 'Look to Windward)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Look_to_Windward) where he describes people as taking a holiday by working in a cafe cleaning tables and serving people, just because the rest of their lives they can have/do/be whatever they want. Body modifications, biological sex changes, anything you can imagine they can do pretty much etc 😂

Thanks for checking out my poem m8, it was a dark vision of the future, but I'd much rather hope for Iain M Bank's version of a utopian society.

P.s. you might have seen his literary fiction (set in the real world) like the book wasp factory name Iain Banks. But he threw his middle into his sci-fi books so fans wouldn't get confused 😂

My personal recommendation would be to start with, [Use of Weapons](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Use_of_Weapons)) and then move on to [The Player of Games](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Player_of_Games) before attempting ['Consider Phlebas']((https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consider_Phlebas)(his 1st Sci-fi novel which is very immediate and action orientated, which is fine for Sci-Fi but his later books are genius), Best Sci-fi I've ever read.

Thanks for checking out the poem m8, and for the curation.
I massively appreciate it, but more than anything else, I'm just glad some people are still reading my poems on here tbh 🤣

I hope you and your family are healthy and happy 🙂
