 Siempre he tenido inclinación hacia el shounen, tanto así que encaminé todo mi esfuerzo en el aprendizaje del manga hacia este género. Sin embargo, hay otro que también me fascina mucho: el Mecha. Al día de hoy, me preguntó por qué no lo intenté desde el inicio, tal vez estaría diseñando robots y equipos electrónicos en lugar de escenas de combate. Pensando en retrospectiva, creo que una de las cosas que me detuvo en decidirme por ese género del manga era el tema de la perspectiva. En ese entonces estaba consciente que mis dibujos no eran tan proporcionados como hubiese querido, por lo que lidiar también con la perspectiva para hacer ángulos de elementos tan complejos como un robot habría sido estresante. Hoy día, la perspectiva no me intimida tanto como antes (aunque le tengo respeto). Me gusta probar ángulos forzados y escorzos que me reten a salir de mi zona de confort y busque nuevas formas de interpretar las cosas. Así que no sé si en algún momento me inspire lo suficiente para hacer alguna historia con temática mecha. Por lo pronto, me divierto haciendo ilustraciones de robots de vez en cuando. Esta vez, hice una ilustración de quien se puede llamar, el origen del mecha: Mazinger Z.  Mazinger Z fue un manga creado por Go Nagai, quien es considerado el padre del género Mecha ya que, gracias a sus creaciones, el género Mecha alcanzó un nivel máximo de popularidad. Osamu Tezuka, el padre del manga en general, también trató el tema Mecha con dos obras, una de las cuales fue la más popular: Astro Boy. La historia de Mazinger Z se centra en las aventuras de un piloto adolescente, Koji Kabuto, quien recibe como herencia de su abuelo un robot. El Dr. Kabuto había trabajado en colaboración con el Dr. Hell. Siendo ambos unos genios en la robótica y después de descubrir información sobre la creación de bestias mecánicas, el Dr. Hell decide usar este conocimiento con la finalidad de adueñarse del mundo. Por su parte, el Dr. Kabuto usa sus conocimientos para crear el arma más poderosa que pudiera hacerle frente a los malvados planes del Dr. Hell y para ello, crea a Mazinger quien está hecho con una aleación especial que lo hace sumamente resistente y desarrolla la energía fotoatómica, la cual le da a Mazinger un poder sin igual. Sin embargo, el Dr. Hell se entera de sus planes y envía a eliminarlo. Koji, quien había ido a visitar a su abuelo con su hermano menor, encuentra el laboratorio en ruinas y apenas su abuelo le puede decir que debe convertirse en el piloto de Mazinger. A partir de ahí, inician las aventuras de Koji, quien no sólo tendrá que aprender a operar al robot, sino también a tener valor y a enfrentarse a sus enemigos que cada vez son más poderosos. Es una historia con buenos giros, una animación muy buena para la época y una banda sonora excelente. Había hecho este boceto de Mazinger en mi sketchbook y decidí darle color y hacer una ilustración. Pasé un rato bastante divertido trabajando en esta ilustración. I have always been inclined towards shounen, so much so that I directed all my efforts in learning manga towards this genre. However, there is another genre that also fascinates me a lot: Mecha. I like to try forced angles and foreshortening that challenge me to step out of my comfort zone and seek new ways of interpreting things. So, I don't know if I will ever be inspired enough to create a Mecha-themed story. For now, I enjoy making robot illustrations from time to time. This time, I made an illustration of what can be called the origin of Mecha: Mazinger Z.  Mazinger Z was a manga created by Go Nagai, who is considered the father of the Mecha genre because, thanks to his creations, the Mecha genre reached the pinnacle of popularity. Osamu Tezuka, the father of manga in general, also explored the Mecha theme in two works, one of which was the most popular: Astro Boy. It's a story with good twists, very good animation for the time, and an excellent soundtrack. I had made this Mazinger sketch in my sketchbook and decided to add color and make an illustration.
