When you see any weapon to the attacker's hands, you have to be more careful in dealing with that. We talk about how to defend yourself against a stick attack and that is usually a short stick. But how about getting attacked with a long stick?

## Is it difficult to defend yourself against a long stick attack? 

Probably we see some fancy moves with long sticks, but if someone attacks with that, you might find it difficult to defend yourself. So what do you think of defending against a long stick?

Will you move back as a defense while the stick swings? Guss what? Since it is a long stick, there is a high chance the attacker will reach you or he can hit you with that stepping forward. You have to step back more in order to defend yourself. 

Again stepping backward can save you once because the attacker will attack you again. So in order to protect yourself, you have to move forward. The problem is, you have to take more steps to get close to the attacker. And it might take a little time whereas you can get close to the attacker fast if that's a short stick.

As a result, you might find it difficult to defend yourself against a long stick. Well, if you see it from another angle, you have some advantages. It might take a little time to move and swing the stick to hit you, so you can use this time to your advantage.

When you make your move to defend yourself against a long stick, you always try to avoid not getting hit by the last part of the stick because that can make more damage. The closer you get to the attacker, the better. It means you can stop the attacker grabbing the attacker's hands or the stick that is very close to the attacker's hands.

Don't try to be a hero intending to break the stick blocking with your hands, you might end up breaking your hands. Try to divert the stick movement instead of getting hit directly. As soon as you defend the stick attack, counter-attack instantly and do not give the attacker another chance to attack you.
