<center>  ***  *** <H2>The Room</H2> <div class="text-justify"> Joshua's family was moving into the new house, his parents had finally and after a long time been able to buy a place that belonged to them. They all traveled happily towards their new life, hoping for the best from that moment on. After several hours of travel, the new tenants arrived at the house of their dreams. It was a beautiful gothic style house, with an aged but attractive look, surrounded by a group of eucalyptus trees. Joshua and his parents were getting out of the car, with their eyes wide as they looked at the large wood and concrete structure that would house them. After the moment of contemplation, the father asked Joshua, "Alright, son, how do you like your new home?" The child, raising his head, answers somewhat hesitantly: "I think... it's ok... ay...". The father touches his head and carries him inside while the mother accompanies them, unable to get out of her stupefaction. "Joshua, come I want to show you your room," the father spoke enthusiastically. Joshua went after him in an attempt to follow in his footsteps. They reached the room, a pink door with flowers drawn on it was evident. "Forget it, daddy, I won't be in a girl's room," he addresses the father and in his face the intense red of fury is denoted. The father laughed and looked at him lovingly and then said, "Joshua, you will decorate your room the way you want, when we start the remodeling." At the end of his words, the father would take Joshua into the room and the boy would look at those four walls with floral wallpaper. He would make a gesture of disenchantment to the big man, who would leave the place laughing. "Very good Joshua, you will change the pink room and make it rude, in your style, hehehehe...", he thought and then laughed to himself, as he unpacked. Joshua was concentrating on his task, when suddenly a floorboard started bouncing, it was as if it was doing it to the rhythm of his heart palpitations. Joshua, curious about what he was seeing, decided to approach the place where the board was jumping. He reached a point where he felt safe and with his big brown eyes, he looked for a logical explanation to the situation. From his safety perimeter, he could not figure out what was making the board move. He decided to get a little closer, as Joshua's curiosity was stronger than his logic. Slowly he approached, very carefully. Suddenly a squirrel was coming out of the room at full speed. Joshua fell backwards. At that instant, the wooden floor opened up around him, swallowing Joshua, who screamed as he fell into the darkness. He opened his eyes and scrambled to his feet, when he saw a dark, cold place, a kind of cave with creepy stalactites. He rubbed his eyes to see if it wasn't a dream, and then he heard a noise. Then he felt an icy hand covering his mouth. "Don't scream", a sweet voice told her. Joshua looked back and saw a little girl. "Wh..., o a..., re yo..., u", he asked, sobbing with fear. "Don't be afraid. I'm Lola, the little girl who has the room upstairs". Joshua backed up two steps and fell backwards. "Get up, don't be afraid. I just needed your help to get out of this place". "How did you get here?", asked Joshua after getting up and dusting off his pants. "Two years ago, I lived upstairs and was very happy, but one day with my friends, we decided to play Ouija and summoned an evil spirit, this demonic entity dragged me to this horrible place". "That's a creepy story", Joshua was telling her as loud footsteps could be heard in the background. Lola took Joshua by the hand and they began to run through the cave. That presence looked at them and went after them, causing the pair of children to panic. Lola shouted, "run, Joshua, run!!!!". Just as the evil entity was about to catch them, Lola grabbed the boy by the arm and pulled him into a hollow space, almost the size of a room. Joshua is left lying there almost out of breath. "Get up, Joshua, you mustn't let the monster get you or you will lose your body and become a wandering soul", Lola was telling him as she shook him by the arm, "look we have to get out of here and we'll only do it with the Ouija. We will summon an entity of light and he will take us out of this horrible place". Joshua a little fearfully agreed and they prepared for the final invocation, "this must be done between two or it won't work, are you with me?", the girl asked him. Joshua nodded his head and they set out to summon the white spirit. Lola uttered a few words, instantly blinding lights came out of the Ouija and everything began to shake. The evil entity appeared out of nowhere and pounced on the two children. Everything was in chaos and Joshua screamed in panic, at the moment a being full of light appeared and took the children away and they disappeared. Everything calmed down, Joshua appeared lying on the wooden floor, he opened his eyes and saw the room with the flower wallpaper. "What a crazy dream I had!" he says to himself, as he gets up, returning to his reality. Joshua leaves the room and closes the door. Lola appears with the light entity. A smile flashed across her face and waving goodbye to Joshua, she then disappeared in the breeze of the sunny day. What an intriguing story, @rinconpoetico7 and Camilo Torres. Josh's experience of falling into the cave and being guided by Lola is very suspenseful and interesting. You did well with the prompt! We are left wondering what happened to Lola's parents, however. This question seems to go unanswered.
We have some feedback for you about verb tenses, for future stories. It is important to decide whether your story will be written in *past* tense (for example, "After the moment of contemplation, the father **asked** Joshua...") or in *present* tense ("The child, raising his head, **answers** somewhat hesitantly...").
Your story uses both intermittently. For example, in the last paragraph shown below in two parts, the first half is all written in present tense and the second half is all written in past tense.
> "What a crazy dream I had!" he **says** to himself, as he **gets** up, returning to his reality. Joshua **leaves** the room and closes the door. Lola **appears** with the light entity.
> A smile **flashed** across her face and waving goodbye to Joshua, she then **disappeared** in the breeze of the sunny day. The boy **heard** a thank you among the eucalyptus trees.
