Welcome! Chess fans, to the Games showcase post, where we will look at some interesting games from the fifth round of the Saturday Weekly Tournament.

The highlighted games feature either brilliant tactics, resilience, or good upsets. Game winners will share in the reward for their games being featured in this post. Rewards would be paid in Liquid.

# Game 1 

# @dakods vs @dalods 
The battle of the strange twins. These users are twins, and they love to refer to themselves as the strange twins in Nigerian Chess because of the countless online tournaments they have won. They are quite fast and resourceful, especially when playing d4. So if only interesting to use a clash between two brothers. I hope this game did not cause some tension at home. Nah, they are chess players, and this will not be the first time to will be playing against one another. We should be expecting an introductory post from both of them, so enough, but if you were a regular in the Liga Team Chess Battle, you should have come across their usernames. 


**1. Nf3 d5 2. e3 c5 3. d4 Nf6 4. c3 e6 5. Bd3 Nbd7 6. Nbd2 Be7**

Like I said, very resourceful with d4, but what I forgot to mention is that Dakod loves to play the Colle System or setup when playing with the white pieces. And as I also expected, they both berserk one another to gain points quickly and advance in the standings. This means they both had 1 minute and 30 seconds each on their clocks to play with.

Things got interesting for white when he broke the center open, so he can have control over the open file. As I mentioned in my HiveChess lecture from yesterday, it is a good idea to go for pawn breaks when they give you control of a file. From the above position, you can see white now has control of the e-file and is creating a threat to the e6 pawn. If not defended properly, it could lead to a loss of material for black.

Even after the exchange of rooks on the a-file, white still missed the winning move, Qxe6, which drops a piece on the next move. If black defends the check with the rook f7, the knight goes to g5, and the rook is gone. And if black plays Kh8, the bishop on e7 drops on the next move. Instead, white played his knight to f1. Losing all his advantage on the spot.

I guess because of how fast they were probably playing, that is why black did not see the threat of Qxe6, so he still went ahead to play Bc6, and finally white saw the winning move, then played it. On realizing the threat, black resigned after moving his king to h8.

# Game 2

# @Tangibleay vs @stranger27 
Tangibleay is a hive chess player who has had a top-three podium finish in the last three rounds of the Saturday Hivechess Tournament. This shows how impressive his consistency is in this tournament. While @stranger27 is also a hive chess player, but have been away for a while. I am sure now that he is back, he will see there is a huge difference in the HiveChess tournament with the presence of new chess players. Let's look at the game that had stranger27's king in the center that led to his loss. 

**1. e4 c6 2. Nc3 d5 3. Nf3 dxe4 4. Nxe4 Nf6 5. Qe2 Be6**

Caro-Kann Defense: Two Knights Attack is the name of the opening, and it comes when white is going for a strong attack against black's Caro-Kann setup. Most times, I play this setup when I am looking for a quick win, or especially when I berserk my opponent like what Tangibleay did in this game. It was the last game to seal in 3rd position finish, which makes more sense why he would berserk.

The sac that leads to black losing the opportunity to castle. Nxf7 is quite strong because of the threat it creates. A double attack on the queen and rook, known as a fork. That is not, there is also a threat of Ne5 if black captures the knight on f7 with his king, as it was played in the game.

Whit did not stop there, he still went ahead to introduce more of his pieces into the game, so he could attack the black king stuck in the center. So he castled and placed his bishop on  c4, stramlining the available squares to the black king.

The game was long over after the sac, but when white brought in the power of the bishop pair, the win was now sealed for white. Bishop checks the black king, and it attacks the queen at the same time. That is not all, the king is also in the dangerous square and now about to lose its most powerful piece as well.
