 Hello hivers, Today I will tell you about Surkanda Devi, 60 kms from Dehradun, which comes in Dhanaulti, Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. We left on our scooter at 8:30 in the morning, the weather was quite sunny, and we did not feel any cold till Mussoorie, but as soon as we crossed the Mussoorie area, the cold suddenly started increasing. Where there was no sunshine, it was more cold. We stopped our scooter and enjoyed the mountains, and we reached the base of Surkanda Temple Trek in about three and a half hours.  We parked the scooter, took prasad and left for the temple on the pedal path. The way to reach the temple is about 1.5 km, there is also a ropeway to reach the temple, which was 220 rupees per person. We chose the walking path, which did not seem difficult to climb. The road is very good and beautification work was going on, and sheds were also being installed to protect from sun and rain.  Surkanda Devi is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas and it is said that Goddess Sati's father Daksh organized a Yagya and invited all the Gods, sages and saints but did not invite Lord Shiva to the Yagya, because he was not happy with the choice of husband of his daughter Sati. Sati avenged the insult of her husband Lord Shiva by burning herself in the fire of her father's Yagya Kund. It is believed that 51 pieces of Sati's body fell in different places, and her head fell in Surkanda, due to which the name of this place is Surkanda and there are 51 Shakti Peethas in India.  Nanda Devi mountain, Dehradun, Haridwar, Bandarpooch, Kalanag, Nandaghunti, Dunagiri, Chaukhamba and Kedarnath can be seen from the 360 view of the temple. Most of the time there is fog here but we were lucky that the weather was clear and we saw many peaks from here.  After sitting inside the temple for a while, we took the prasad and sat inside the temple for a while, after a while the temple was closed for offering food. I was very hungry and in the courtyard of the temple, a broken coconut was offered as prasad near the idol of Lord Krishna, I ate from it.  Many people had come for darshan, we met some people, talked to them and then left for home. The way from Dehradun to Sukanda Devi temple is very beautiful, Dehradun is not so cold because of the valley, but as soon as you step into Dhanaulti, you start feeling cold, there are some places where cold wind always blows. I went to Dhanaulti for the first time 7 years ago. I find this place very beautiful.  People come here to visit the temple even in May-June because at that time a fair is held here which is quite famous. The temple is open all the time, so devotees can come here and visit any month. If someone wants to do a short trek in the snow with less risk, then this place is very less risky.
