Making my best effort at connecting to the palce I live, I revived the @whatamidoing account as a Japanese /Wnglish Bilingual diary. I’m thinking about using Twitter in Japanese only and most importantly, I’ve started thinking seriously about translating my novella series into Japanese. I find a lot of people of people here in Tokyo are interested in reading it but are discouraged because the English is too difficult for them. I do not have money to pay for a top-grade translator and I don’t want a shitty translation either so I’m thinking of translating it myself and then slowly checking sentences with friends and language exchange partners to make sure it’s got the right feeling. The whole thing would be too much for me to handle but a chapter every two months is reasonable. This will double up as Japanese study! I was even thinking of offering some free lessons to a student or two for helping me look over a few pages each. Anyway, im going to get this done.  Perhaps I will release a few chapters as zines first. I spent way too much time here not really connecting as I should. I was waiting for the right circumstances (more money, more time, better health) without making the best of what is in front of me. My podcast and youtube channel are fun and good but I think I was relying on them as a substitute for feeling unfulfilled in my physical life. The same went for Hive when I was posting 7 days a week and spending 3-4 hours a day here. As I learn to find my excitement, I realize that I can do all the things I want to do, but some of them require a long slow grind and don’t need to come out on a weekly or daily schedule. I’m an artist, not an “influencer”. Any influence I end up having does not need to be in the style of someone who would label themselves an influencer. You can say I have a brand but I don’t need to be sucked into that way of looking about it. I just need to focus more on the things that make me excited and stop wasting my energy strategizing because as soon as I step into the flow, doors start to open up. I don't know much about Novells but I watched a lot about manga creators. its sad they don't really get paid much for their job and they have to sacrifice a lot to keep doing what they love.
