The way I met this game is curious; I was playing a game of Super Smash Bros and sounded a soundtrack that I liked, when I looked for where it came from I found this game and it seemed an interesting proposal, so I did not hesitate to try it and see how it was. **ARMS** is a 1 VS 1 fighting game where we will fight against a rival and the winner will be the one who manages to knock out the other for more rounds, the typical.

On this occasion the game does not have a story and neither does it give us a context, we must intuit that we are in a world where **there are fighters with extremely long and flexible body parts** with different special abilities that will benefit them in some way when it comes to fighting.

During the fights we will be able to dodge, block, jump, grab and hit with our two arms, **each arm will be controlled separately** and we will be able to decide whether to attack with the right or the left one. We will also be able to curve the blows to try to predict the trajectory of our rival and, although it is a mechanic that at first may seem simple, as we go fighting we will realize that it is more complex than it seems.

The main objective will be to win 2 rounds by reducing the opponent's life. And although it may seem that the dynamic of the fights is simply spamming blows, the smartest way to play will be dodging and attacking when the time is right, because every time we throw a blow, our arm will have a small cooldown where the opponent can take advantage to hit us, so the fights end up being much more strategic.

During the confrontation we will see how a small icon in our life bar is recharged with each successful and received hit, this icon will represent our ultimate ability, when it is completely full we can activate it, which will allow us to launch a series of special hits for a few seconds. The type of hits will depend on the type of fist we have equipped.

**And speaking of fists; Before each confrontation we will choose which fists we want to use**, we will have to choose a total of 3 pairs of fists and each of them will have an ability and fighting style, there will be fists that throw projectiles, others that disperse, some will be fast, others slow and many other things that will allow us to create strategies. We will also be able to mix them, placing a fist model on the left arm and another on the right.

And in case we get bored of fighting, we will have a couple of **game modes** that will have slightly different mechanics. For starters, we will have a **Volleyball mode** where we will play on a court against an opponent and we will have to use our long arms to hit a giant ball that will explode after a while. If the ball explodes on our side we lose a point and if it explodes on the opponent's side we score a point.

Then there will be the **basketball mode**, which will be played on a basketball court with only one hoop. Our goal here will be to grab the opponent and put him in the basket with one shot. The player who manages to score 3 points first will have won.

Finally, we will have the **target shooting mode**, where we will be in a shooting range in front of our rival and targets will appear constantly. Each target that we manage to destroy with our fists will add us points, in addition, we can also try to hit the opponent at the same time that we break the targets, which will subtract points.

Another interesting thing is that as we play we will complete different **challenges of the game**, for each completed challenge will give us an amount of **coins** that we can redeem to access a kind of mini-game (identical to target shooting). It will be in this mini-game where we will unlock new models of fists to use. The amount of unlocked fists will depend on our score in this mini-game.

**The game is great** and I'm surprised I've never heard of it, especially considering it's a **2017** game, I don't know if it was because it went unnoticed or it was just me who overlooked it. Be that as it may it's a title that can be good to have a few games from time to time, especially if you have the chance to play it with someone else, although if you play solo (like me) it's also a lot of fun, the A.I. has a decent enough difficulty to sweep the floor with you a couple of times.

La forma en la que conocí este juego es curiosa; Estaba jugando una partida de Super Smash Bros y sonó una banda sonora que me gustó, cuando busqué de donde venia me encontré con este juego y me pareció una propuesta interesante, por lo que no dude en probarlo y ver que tal estaba. **ARMS** es un juego de lucha 1 VS 1 donde combatiremos contra un rival y ganará quien logre noquear al otro por más rounds, lo típico.

En esta ocasión el juego no tiene una historia y tampoco nos da un contexto, debemos intuir que estamos en un mundo donde **existen luchadores con partes de su cuerpo extremadamente largas y flexibles** con distintas capacidades especiales que los beneficiaran de algún modo a la hora de luchar.

Durante los combates podremos esquivar, bloquear, saltar, agarrar y golpear con nuestros dos brazos, **cada brazo se controlará por separado** y podremos decidir si atacar con el derecho o el izquierdo. También podremos curvar los golpes para intentar predecir la trayectoria de nuestro rival y, aunque es una mecánica que al principio puede parecer sencilla, conforme vayamos luchando nos daremos cuenta de que es más compleja de lo que parece.

El objetivo principal será ganar 2 rounds reduciéndole la vida al oponente. Y aunque puede parecer que la dinámica de los combates es simplemente spamear golpes, la forma más inteligente de jugar será esquivando y atacando cuando sea el momento correcto, ya que cada vez que lancemos un golpe, nuestro brazo tendrá un pequeño cooldown donde el rival puede aprovechar para golpearnos, por lo que los combates terminan siendo mucho más estratégicos.

Durante el enfrentamiento veremos como se recarga un pequeño icono en nuestra barra de vida con cada golpe acertado y recibido, este icono representará nuestra habilidad definitiva, cuando este lleno por completo podremos activarla, lo que nos permitirá lanzar una serie de golpes especiales durante unos segundos. El tipo de golpes dependerá del tipo de puño que tengamos equipado.

**Y hablando de puños; Antes de cada enfrentamiento elegiremos que puños queremos usar**, habrá que elegir un total de 3 pares de puños y cada uno de ellos tendrá una habilidad y estilo de pelea, habrá puños que lancen proyectiles, otros que se dispersen, unos serán rápidos, otros lentos y muchas cosas más que nos permitirán crear estrategias. También podremos mezclarlos, colocándonos un modelo de puño en el brazo izquierdo y otro en el derecho.

Y en caso de que nos aburramos de luchar, tendremos un par de **modos de juego** que tendrán mecánicas un poco distintas. Para empezar, tendremos un **modo Voleibol** donde jugaremos en una cancha contra un rival y habrá que usar nuestros largos brazos para darle a una pelota gigante que explotará luego de un tiempo. Si la pelota explota de nuestro lado perdemos un punto y si explota del lado del rival marcaremos un punto.

Luego estará el **modo basquetbol**, que se jugará en una cancha de básquet con un solo aro. Nuestro objetivo aquí será agarrar al rival y meterlo en la canasta de un golpe. El jugador que logre marcar 3 puntos primero, habrá ganado.

Por último, tendremos el **modo tiro al blanco**, donde estaremos en un campo de tiro frente a nuestro rival e irán apareciendo dianas constantemente. Cada diana que logremos destruir con nuestros puños nos sumará puntos, además, también podremos intentar golpear al rival al mismo tiempo que rompemos las dianas, lo que le restará puntos.

Otra cosa interesante es que conforme juguemos iremos completando distintos **desafíos del juego**, por cada desafío completado nos darán una cantidad de **monedas** que podremos canjear para acceder a una especie de minijuego (idéntico a tiro al blanco). Será en este minijuego donde desbloqueemos nuevos modelos de puños para usar. La cantidad de puños desbloqueados dependerá de nuestra puntuación en dicho minijuego.

**El juego es genial** y me sorprende nunca haber escuchado sobre él, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que es un juego de **2017**,  no sé si fue porque pasó desapercibido o simplemente fui yo quien lo pasó por alto. Sea como sea es un título que puede estar bien para echarse unas partidas de vez en cuando, sobre todo si tienes la posibilidad de jugarlo con alguien más, aunque si juegas en solitario (como yo) también es muy divertido, la I.A tiene una dificultad lo suficientemente decente para barrer el suelo contigo un par de veces.
