I'm happy to be back again with another interesting topic. > I remember sharing a blog post a few days ago about how Nanotechnology is going to totally transform the field of medicine. There are more things nanotechnology can do besides giving us more advanced and effective methods of handling diseases link cancer. Nanotechnology can transform our entire environment. In today's blog post I'll share a few thoughts on the positive changes or impact that nanotechnology will have on our environment. It really has a way of effectively helping us deal with big environmental problems. Indeed naonteech or nanobots are tiny but they are designed to bring some of the biggest changes. It's really all about working with really tiny materials to make our world cleaner and healthier. Lets see how nanotechnology is being used in fighting environmental pollution, making water much safer to drink, and also changing the way we get energy.  #### The Fight against Environmental Pollution There are so many diseases that come out of polluted air and water. We've got the famous cholera and even the flu. Now there's an actual strategy scientists are using to clean the air and managing to get these bacteria that pollute the air we breathe out of it. --- Now imagine if buildings could clean the air around them. Buildings can literally do the job that the cleaners are hired to do but this time in spots they can't reach like 50 feet in the air. How does this happen you might ask? Well, with nanotechnology, this is very possible. There are very tiny particles called titanium dioxide (TiO2) that can easily break down bad stuff in the air when the sun shines on them. You could have these giant factories producing a lot of waste and harmful substances into the air. With the titanium dioxide carried by nanobots, they floating in the air, attach themselves to the harmful substances produced by these factories and completely break them down to make them less harmful. By doing that, we have successfully purified the air. What can be done is that these particles can be put in air filters and on building surfaces, and they help reduce pollution in cities. > What a purified environment that would be right. You can confidently come out into the open space or even close to huge factories, breath the air around and still know that it's clean air and nothing bad is going to happen to you.  > Now let's see how this can purify the water as well. Think about dirty water, nanotechnology can definitely help here too. There are these super small materials like carbon nanotubes and graphene oxide that can easily suck up bad stuff in water. > They operate just like water filters, but much better. Water filters can purify water to certain degrees. There will still be harmful bacteria that would escape these water filters. However with carbon nanotubes, they operate on much more tiny materials and can easily suck up the tiny and harmful materiels. They are usually used to clean up wastewater and make it safe again. I know the idea seems a bit uncomfortable but after the process, the waste water becomes as clean as your regular clean water without any harmful substances.  Having clean drinking water is super important, especially in places with no fancy water treatment plants. There are quite a lot of towns and villages and even sometimes cities that have issues with dirty water. Water is used for so many things we put through our mouths and into our bodies. This means if we don't take clean water seriously, it could lead to almost fatal consequences. > Nanotechnology can still help in situations like this. In some far-off places or during emergencies, we use portable devices with very tiny filters made from things like silver nanoparticles. These filters can remove germs and viruses from water, so you can drink it without worrying at all. It perfectly purifies the water making it very safe for you to drink. This is all thanks to the wonders of nanotechnology. --- Nanotechnology does not stop at purification, it can also operate as a converter. Nanotechnology is helping us turn salty seawater into fresh drinking water. Using the same carbon nanotubes and special membranes, Scientists are able to make a process called desalination. Desalination is simply making saltwater drinkable. The normal process without nanotechnology takes a longer time and it turns out to be more expensive. With Nanotubes for desalination, the process becomes faster and cheaper. > So in the end it becomes more cost effective and can be used on an even large scale.  #### Let's Talk Energy > Nanotechnology is also making clean energy sources like solar power and batteries much better. Scientists behind Nanotechnology experiments found ways to make solar panels work even better with tiny things called quantum dots. Solar panels work by capturing sunlight and converting it into electricity to power our cities, factories, cars and other techs. What the quantum dots do is to help the solar panels capture even more sunlight and turn it into electricity. > I'm pretty sure you know what this means right. It means solar power is getting cheaper and more people can use it. That's one issue with solar power that has limited its adoption. It's usually more expensive. However with nanotechnology, it's going to get cheaper and you're going to be seeing every single house with solar panel because why not. --- Another thing that nanotechnology is doing when it comes to energy supply is; giving our batteries a boost. > I'm pretty sure you're still angry at your phone's battery for dieing off too soon. Some phones are so ridiculous that you can take about 2 hours to charge it and in less than an hour of use it's already back to 20 percent 😂😭. Well nanotechnology has the solution to that problem too. By using special nanobots with the batteries, it can last longer and even store more energy. This means the lifespan of batteries are longer and so your watch or car battery ain't dieing anytime soon.  In conclusion to today's blog post, nanotechnology is really pulling its weight behind our environmental progress. From the cleaner air we'll breathe or cleaner water we'll drink to the extended life span of our batteries and less expensive solar panels, life is certainly going to be great with nanotechnology and nanobots. As I mentioned earlier on, nanotech is going to transform our entire lives and make it better.
