It may well amaze you that besides digging ‘*weird stuff*’ I am, or was into some of the nineties dance tunes that popped up, also known as 'House Music' in some cases.

Speaking from my perspective as a dinosaur, this to me was the last decade of anything decent and probably why the majority of my tunes are from this period or earlier.

At the ripe old age of 20, @dismayedworld can't abide today's music and listens to all this old stuff, but not necessarily my picks. At that age, I couldn't have listened to the crap my late father was into, though we had a few things in common such as the excellent 'Can't Slow Down' by Lionel Ritchie.

As for ‘Dance Classics’, I can’t see this being an especially long series of tunes, as I was pretty selective even then.

One thing I do from time to time is check these old artists on Wikipedia, just to see what they are up to now. Many of them had one or two hits and then vanished into obscurity. Kym Sims tried to follow up, but this was ultimately her big hit.

In the USA this song barely registered unless you were into the dance scene, and '*Too Blind to See it*' fared much better on my side of the pond.

The distinct piano intro contains that typical nineties sound; not just the nineties but more so the early part. Later, this type of sound faded away and was replaced by Britpop, at least in the UK. 

Of course, the mandatory short rap crap part has to be somewhere in the middle and tolerated. It was a 'thing' then.

I did think this was from the nineties and never thought to look before now. I also had no idea that 'Rui da Silva' was a DJ. I am not a fan of these DJs making music, but if they get a decent singer then that can change things.

'Touch Me' is a thumping dance song of the finest calibre that adds more as it develops, culminating in ecstasy for those dance-floor types. Add one of those small white tablets and it would take you off into space somewhere.

I can't remember where I picked this track up from, but I did listen to the radio more in those times. DJs making songs is big business in today's world, but then it was only starting to develop.

Going back to 1991, we hear those familiar janky piano riffs again. I had no idea Jocelyn was 72 years old (now). It shows how old these tunes I am showing you really are.

This one has been in my ‘Slobberchops Choice Cuts' selection forever, a single repository of almost 900 mixed-up songs from all periods.

From the time when pop songs included horns and brass, I was surprised to find 'Always There' is a cover of an even earlier rendition made in 1976. I must have missed it the first time around, or Incognito changed it so much that it was unrecognizable.

So this is quite a cheesy post for me, and I am not subjecting you to another round of alternative weirdness, basically because I have little left in the pot to offer. 

There’s nothing wrong with a little mainstream, even if it is well over 30 years old. You might even catch one of these in your local supermarket, though I hope not.

Overplaying kills tunes, and makes us never want to hear them again. It's (almost) Christmas and soon we are all going to be subjected to another annual round of musical shite again. 

Make your trips to Tesco, short and snappy.
