When I heard that this rotting hotel had been ‘*Jake’d*’, I took some notice. Jake is a YouTuber, or GoonTuber as @grindle names them.  Regardless of what I think of Jake’s ethics, I follow him to see what he’s been up to as he has a habit of leaving plenty of clues.  The one had little in the way of personal possessions and may well have been sealed up since @dizzydiscovery and I visited in Mid June, so I won't be so secretive about its whereabouts.  The hotel was the first one our list of many that day and scouting the place out was the first thing. This was once the car park of a mid-sized hotel. It has seen little action of late.  I was confident of the '*way in*' (thanks Jake), which was relatively easy once we managed to get around some casual walkers who were most annoyingly '*walking about*' and peering inside.   Being closed since 2012 has not done the place any favours, with large bits of floor missing in parts of the upper section.   The filing cabinets held not a thing besides some name tags attached to the front.   Don’t expect banisters to hold on to, they tend to be the first things to drop off.     What a mess; it was really dark inside with creepy corridors to boot!     Being a newer type of building, we get new furniture of sorts. It always looks out of place to me when situated inside a wreck.  Something died some time ago, perhaps a fish that lost its way?     I came for the photography. It was hard to find anything great at '*The Rotting Hotel*'.  These were once standard hotel fare rooms and many were the same. Not too much of interest and we didn’t delve into each one of them.  £44 quid a night and £30 at weekends tells me this was a budget hotel. £30 seems quite the bargain but then look at the date. In 1986 it wasn’t quite such a good deal!  I love greenery coming from the outside; it makes for good shots… sometimes, but not this time.  More correspondence; I should have taken a closer look.  32 Luxury bedrooms, there were a lot of them and another separate extension.      We sought out the front area and found the toilets instead, and I mean big ones!     The reception desk has seen better days, as has the bar.  Downstairs was the cellar, cold quiet and creepy.. but we went down there anyway.  Nothing there besides a rusty safe that refused to open.    After emerging, I heard people outside and saw more walkers dithering about looking at the hotel.  <center>...'*Can you please fuck off?*'...</center>  It was far too dark for them to see me so I kept quiet until they left and ditched the light.  Overall not the most exciting explore with little left besides the old receipts. It was a big old place though.  <center>***...'this is where the walkers were when I was inside. It did cross my mind to grab the bars and wail, 'HELP ME.. I HAVE BEEN TRAPPED FOR YEARRRRSSSSSSSSSS!'...***</center> Maybe not... We checked some of the outer buildings and found another that was possibly a separate wing but it looked quite sealed.  I am surprised it has not been on the Urbex radar before now. Maybe the demolition crew has visited recently opening it up for everyone?  A good start to the day, but it was not to last. The next FOUR places we visited were consecutive fails. Makes me speculate about the going-on's of this place if they had the "desk next to safe" on speed dial 😂 It looks pretty interesting! Too bad there weren't many things left behind; are there usually at hotels? I don't believe I've ever explored a hotel, not that I can think of, so excuse my ignorance but I would imagine they are usually for the most part pretty void of personal affects.
