Please join an experiment: Don´t sell Hive for one week!
Dear top stake holders @arcange, @ausbitbank, @blocktrades, @darthknight, @deathwing, @emrebeyler, @good-karma, @gtg, @guiltyparties, @howo, @khaleelkazi, @mika, @neoxian, @ocd-witness, @pharesim, @quochuy, @ranchorelaxo, @roadscape, @roelandp, @smooth, @steampeak, @stoodkev, @themarkymark, @therealwolf, @theycallmedan, @threespeak, @trafalgar, @twinner, @xeldal, @yabapmatt and all others interested in the Hive price!

I am sorry for the mass tagging. As you know, I never do this (only to remind the chess players about upcoming Hivechess tournaments) but I saw no other way to create the visibility for this experiment that is needed to have an impact.

The concept is very simple: I would like to know what the effect on the Hive price would be if **for one week no Hive user would sell a single Hive** on exchanges. That´s it.

If as many Hive users as possible participate - only for this week - would it have a noticeble effect on the price?
Or is the selling pressure coming from many other, bigger factors, or will major Bitcoin movements overlay any such effect? If we have luck, BTC goes sideways this week, so one confounding factor less.
Will you get hurt by not selling Hive this week (until this Sunday)? I hope not!

In order to find out, why not start **right now**, in this week of the @hivefest?

Now that many people are gathering at the main event of Hive in 2024 (and hopefully have done their travel expense spendings already), wouldn´t that experiment not only be possible but also **cool**? As it is completely community driven, every single Hivian can decide to participate or not. The more join, the better the likelihood of success.

In the same time Bitcoin went up 6.4! That means there was no noticeable effect and the experiment failed.

The 1/3 of hive kept on the exchanges is likely the controlling factor here.
Who that is is difficult to know for sure.

We can strongly suspect that the people selling for daily expenses are not holding it.
Who can afford to take the risk of keeping hive on exchanges?

Somebody is supporting the price, when they get tired of doing that maybe we will reach the point where the price to power ratio is more likely to attract investors.
Unfortunately, that price is below 10 cents.
Any purchase above 10 cents does not give an attractive power bump to the buying account.

This price to power ratio may be the straw that finally breaks the hive's back.

Unless/until the ninjaminers are diluted we can expect no changes.
It was them that drove people off by the 100's of 1000's hoping to maintain their grasp on the whole.

Not selling is a great strategy, but those with zero dollars in their millions of hive can only be unseated by folks buying, and powering up, more hive.

A fork that gets rid of them or, at least, levels the field, is a viable, if unattractive, option.
As long as the top accounts have 20k times a minnow's power, or even 11k times, nobody is buying in to play the game and the best strategy may be selling until 'the whales' get tired of controlling the whole.

The ~~80k~~ 90k hive taken by the top curating account split among ~8k authors/curators would attract a lot more authors/curators, instead it goes to one account.

The math of that top account no longer reaping the pool wouldn't be an even split, it would just devolve onto the next highest account.
This 'fact of the math' requires that more than just the top 1 or 2 be reined in.

I suggest a 1000mv limit on voting from the pool.
A person can hold more than that, and vote in their witness/proposals, but if you want to attract more users, it's not gonna happen until these 'facts of the math' are changed.

The top 20 accounts take 50% of the rewards each day.
Who buys in to make those with game breaking amounts even more game breaking?
8 years of declining numbers says not very many.

Especially, as the biggest HIVE stakes stem from early mining and bid bot use in the past and got increased since them for many years.
In case I would buy a significant amount of HIVE I only would make the top whales richer because they benefit the most from an increasing HIVE price.

I am not opposed to the idea ... but remember, @dalz already did the work on this ... until HBD stabilizer and the DHF are doing something different than what they are doing now, then the inflation is going to continue. I'm not going to sell any Hive next week because I'm not going to sell any Hive next week, but if I DID, it would not even dent what Hive's internal mechanisms are responsible for.

I also would like more people to understand: Hive is an altcoin, and altcoins lag Bitcoin tremendously. 90-99 percent of the value comes out in bear markets and throwing effort down that hole won't change it until the market is ready for altcoins to be up. This can be studied and understood from market data. 

Now, I also read in these comments that a million people wanted to be here, and people protecting their gravy train drove them off -- if that is true, and every aggrieved person tells *seven people,* then Hive has a burden other altcoins do not, and it will take serious, focused marketing to overcome it. Hating content creators and blaming them for all that goes wrong has a cost: they are content creators. They talk. That's a problem if that million-number is anywhere near true. 

As great as we know Hive is, Hive has to be accountable for its on internal mechanisms, understand its position in in the market and market cycle as an altcoin, and focus on making friends and not enemies. If we can't do that for more than a week, no one else in the world has to be bothered. Not selling Hive is a good idea ... we just need to address the HBD Stabilzer and DHF on that to see real change ... and then hang on and be patient and not alienate newcomers.

Forget about selling $HIVE! In fact, I'm buying HIVE once a week with my two alternate accounts that play Splinterlands and unstake $SPS rewards. Over the last 2 unstaking periods, I've bought about 40 HIVE each week. Now my goal is to try and earn the September HPUM award. I got to day 19 in August before I goofed and missed a day. I hope more of my Splinterlands buddies start to spend more time on Hive's other dapps and invest/powerup on the blockchain!

Plus, I buy HIVE on the internal market weekly while the price is under 20c.

I support the idea, one week won't hurt anyone, however it's unlikely that large stakeholders will join in. I'm not even talking about their willingness or not, but because they are large players, they already have a schedule of what to do with their assets, and if a liquidation is on their agenda, it doesn't make sense for their planning to go a week without selling.
