After a few busy days, spent with a thousand commitments, I finally found some time to dedicate to myself. Fate had it that an old friend of mine, Simone, an extreme fisherman himself, had written to me a few days before, asking me if I was free and if I wanted to try a quick fishing trip at Ghost Park, a private body of water located in the province of Padua. A quick fishing trip means in a day, about 12 hours of fishing, which is very little in this discipline that often requires several days to get results, as the fish are not always active, you have to create a feeding spot to attract them and find the perfect spot to drop the bait, because it may seem absurd, but on a medium-sized lake like this, which has a circumference of 3 km, even an error of just one meter in bait placement can make the difference between catching several fish or none at all. But sometimes, even if everything has been calculated in detail, it's not enough, as the fish is very sensitive to many factors, including lunar phases and meteorological changes, which can heavily affect the outcome of the session.

>Dopo alcuni giorni, trascorsi occupato da mille impegni, ho trovato finalmente un po' di tempo da dedicare a me stesso. Il caso ha voluto che un mio vecchio amico, Simone, anche lui pescatore estremo, qualche giorno prima mi aveva scritto, chiedendomi se ero libero e se volevo andare a tentare una pescata veloce al Ghost Park, uno specchio d'acqua privato che si trova nella provincia di Padova. Per pescata veloce si intente in giornata, circa 12 ore di pesca, che sono molto poche in questa disciplina che richiede spesso diversi giorni per ottenere risultati, in quanto il pesce non è sempre attivo, bisogna creare uno spot di pasturazione per attirarlo e trovare il punto perfetto per calare l'esca, perchè sembra assurdo, ma su un lago di medie dimensioni come questo, che ha una circonferenza di 3 Km, anche un errore di solo un metro nel posizionamento dell'esca può fare la differenza tra catturare diversi pesci o nessuno. Ma a volte, nonostante si abbia calcolato tutto nel minimo dettaglio non basta, il pesce è molto sensibile a tantissimi fattori, tra cui fasi lunari e cambiamenti meteorologici, che possono condizionare fortemente il risultato della sessione.

This beautiful crystal lake is often visited by fishermen from all over Europe, looking to catch the huge fish living inside it. Yesterday, I met some groups of fishermen from Holland and Austria. Both groups had arrived at the lake on Monday to fish all week, and to give you an idea of the difficulty of fishing in these crystal-clear lakes, the Dutch guys, despite being very well equipped with everything, had not caught any fish since Monday. While the Austrian group was having a good session with an average of 10 fish a day, some of them very big. The Austrians certainly knew the lake well and it wasn't their first time there, as they were fishing as I would have done in their position and on the best spots, while although the Dutch guys' positions were also excellent, they were completely wrong in their approach, fishing from 40 to 70 meters from the shore when they should have gone out between 150 and 200 meters.

>Pensate che questo splendido specchio d'acqua cristallina è spesso visitato da pescatori provenienti da tutta Europa, per cercare di catturare gli enormi pesci che vivono al suo interno. Ieri ho incontrato alcuni gruppi di pescatori provenienti dall'Olanda e dall'Austria. Entrambi i gruppi erano giunti al lago il lunedì per pescare tutta la settimana e per farvi capire la difficoltà di pesca in questi laghi cristallini, i ragazzi Olandesi nonostante fossero molto ben attrezzati di tutto, da lunedì non avevano ancora catturato nessun pesce. Mentre il gruppo Austriaco, stava vivendo una buona sessione con una media di 10 pesci al giorno e alcuni di taglia molto grande. Sicuramente gli Austriaci conoscevano bene il lago e non era la prima volta che venivano, perchè pescavano come avrei fatto io nella loro postazione e sui punti migliori, mentre sebbene anche le postazioni degli Olandesi erano ottime, stavano sbagliando completamente l'approccio in partenza, pescando dai 40 ai 70 metri da riva, quando in quelle postazioni avrebbero dovuto uscire tra i 150 e 200 metri.

Perhaps by giving this information, I have only created confusion, but it was to make you understand the difficulty of this fishing and how a detail can make the difference. That's why even my extreme fishing day was not very extreme, as I didn't catch any fish, unfortunately...

Simone, on the other hand, was luckier or more skilled, I say luckier because the difference is only one fish, he made only one catch, but what a catch! A huge sturgeon, which looked like a barrel as thick as its circumference. A truly wonderful specimen that stopped the needle of the scale at 24 kg.

>Forse dando queste informazioni ho creato solo confusione, ma era per fare capire la difficoltà di questa pesca e quanto un dettaglio può fare la differenza. Ecco perchè anche la mia giornata di pesca estrema è rimasta poco estrema, dato che non ho catturato nessun pesce ahimè...

>Simone invece è stato più fortunato o più bravo, dico fortunato perchè la differenza è solo di 1 pesce, ha fatto una sola cattura, ma che cattura però! Uno storione enorme, che sembrava un barile quanto era spessa la sua circonferenza. Un esemplare davvero meraviglioso, che ha fermato l'ago della bilancia sui 24 KG.

But unfortunately, after this single exciting event, the day passed by watching the lake, but I'm not sad about it, also because Simone is a very funny character who continues to say a lot of nonsense and makes me laugh out loud, so even if things go wrong like in this case, having fun with him is always guaranteed. Also, it's always nice to spend a day in nature and feel part of it.

So while I was waiting for some fish to bite, I walked along the shores of the lake to take some pictures of the wild nature. There was this splendid pike, which I swear went up and down the bank from morning until evening. I didn't count, but it must have passed by me at least 30 times. It was a pity that I didn't have the equipment and bait for predators because it would have been nice to catch it, and I probably could have, as it was obviously on the hunt.

>Ma purtroppo, dopo questo unico emozionante evento, la giornata è passata a guardare il lago, ma non sono triste per questo, anche perchè Simone è un personaggio simpaticissimo che continua a dire un sacco di cazzate e fa morire dal ridere, così anche se va male come in questo caso, il divertimento con lui è sempre assicurato. Inoltre è sempre bello passare una giornata in mezzo alla natura e sentirsi parte di essa.

>Così mentre aspettavo che qualche pesce abboccasse, ho passeggiato lungo le sponde del lago, per fare qualche foto alla natura selvaggia. C'era questo splendido esemplare di luccio, che vi giuro da mattina a sera, ha continuato a fare su e giù per la sponda, non le ho contate, ma sarà passato davanti a me almeno 30 volte. Peccato che non avevo l'attrezzatura e le esche per i predatori, perchè sarebbe stato bello da catturare e probabilmente ci sarei anche riuscito, perchè era palesemente in caccia.

As I continued my walk, I came across this beautiful horse, which I think belongs to the lake owner. It may sound strange coming from me, but it was a real asshole!!!

I called it, and it approached me without any problems, so I started to pet it. Suddenly, out of nowhere, it tried to bite me three times. It became aggressive all of a sudden, but I noticed that it was also excited, and it had revealed its entire cannon. This made me think that it wanted to bite me and then mount me because I know that when horses mate, the male holds the female still by biting her mane. So, putting two and two together, it wanted to bite me and mount me, making it a asshole twice over!

>Passeggiando ancora, ho incontrato questo splendido cavallo, che credo sia della gestrice del lago, che vi sembrerà strano detto da me, ma era davvero uno stronzo!!!

>L'ho chiamato e si è subito avvicinato senza problemi, così ho iniziato ad accarezzarlo, quando ad un certo punto, dal nulla ha provato a mordermi il braccio per 3 volte. Tutto all'improvviso, ha iniziato ad essere aggressivo, però ho notato che si era anche eccitato, aveva tirato fuori tutto il suo cannone. Questo, mi ha fatto pensare che voleva prendermi con i denti per poi montarmi, perchè so che quando i cavalli si accoppiano, il maschio tiene ferma la femmina mordendola sulla criniera. Per cui, facendo 1 più 1, voleva mordermi e montarmi, per cui era stronzo due volte!

I didn't take long to leave the area because the fence it had was there just for show, and it could have jumped over it at any moment. I thought it was best to leave before I found myself in an unpleasant situation and returned to my fishing spot.

It was now evening, and I hadn't caught anything when suddenly this beautiful swan appeared from the reeds. It was probably attracted by the smell of cooked corn, so since the fish weren't biting, I gave some corn to the swan, at least it would appreciate it, and it did. It continued to dip its head in the water until it had picked up every single grain. A bit of satisfaction for me too, there are still those who really appreciate my cooking :D.

>Non ci ho messo molta ad andare via da li, perchè la recinzione che aveva era tanto per essere stata messa li, ma avrebbe potuto saltarla in qualsiasi momento, per cui ho pensato di allontanarmi da li prima che mi potessi trovare in situazioni molto spiacevoli e me ne sono tornato in postazione.

>Ormai era giunta sera e non avevo preso nulla, quando ad un certo punto, compare dal canneto questo splendido cigno, che probabilmente era stato attirato dal profumo del mais cotto, così visto che i pesci non mangiavano ho dato un po' di mais al cigno, almeno lui lo avrebbe apprezzato e così è stato. Ha continuato ad immergere la testa in acqua fino a quando non aveva ravvolto ogni singolo chicco. Un po' di soddisfazione anche per me, c'è ancora chi apprezza la mia cucina in fondo :D.

In the end, it was still a beautiful day, even though I personally didn't catch any fish. But it's not just about that; it's a passion that you have primarily for the love of nature, and just being able to spend a day like this is wonderful to me.
