Installing Thermal Faceplate

Some time ago, I wrote about how I was approved for a government program that provides funding to improve energy efficiency in every home. The program primarily funds changes in windows and frames, installation of air conditioning, thermal faceplate systems, and other measures. In my previous post, I mentioned how I changed my doors and frames, and now it's time to install the thermal faceplate.

Here's how the thermal faceplate is installed:

The first step is to check the walls for mold or damaged old paint that needs to be removed. Once that is done, they start by applying primer to the walls. After all the walls are fully covered with primer, it is left to dry for one day. The primer is applied because without it, the next material won't adhere properly.

The following day, they install the insulation material, which is an expanded polystyrene foam. To ensure that it adheres to the wall, they use a special glue.

After fully installing the EPS, they secure it by using special nails and a net to hold everything together. Additionally, they apply glue to the entire surface. Following this step, one day is needed to proceed with the next phase, which involves applying the paste for the final stage.

The paste used is similar to colored cement. In my case, when they finished with the exterior, we also installed it on the interior since my neighbor didn't want me to install a thermal faceplate, which would have created a messy situation.

After 10 days everything is over now all that is needed is a good clean up! Lets hope next winter i will reduce my energy consumption for heating to - 50%
