<p>I asked myself the very same question.&nbsp;</p>
<h3>If these million dollar bloggers don't earn their money on steemit, where does the revenue come from then?</h3>

<p><strong>There are some content creators out in the internet that make over $100,000 per month.&nbsp;</strong></p>
<p>Not surprisingly a lot of people - like us :-) - are trying to enter this prosperous market.</p>
<p>Steemit is providing a genious opportunity to monetize content. However, from a global perspective the top bloggers are making their living otherwise (still).</p>
<h3>These are the top 3 income categories:</h3>
<ol>
  <li><strong>Affiliate earnings (via affiliate links)</strong> - Money bloggers own for referring sales to another company through blog posts</li>
  <li><strong>Advertising </strong>- Money bloggers get paid for to show ads on their site or get clicks on these ads.</li>
  <li><strong>Products &amp; Services</strong> - Money bloggers get for selling their own products and services to their blog audience.</li>

<h3><strong>Probably in the near future there will appear a point no. 4: "Blogging on steemit" :-)</strong></h3>
<p>Since steemit's blogging interface still doesn't permit to integrate any advertising or affiliate embeds and I personally don't have any products or services to offer, I've started to call some attention for my blog in a different way.&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Nobody gets famous / rich overnight.&nbsp;</h2>
<p><strong>Every journey starts with the very first step which in this case means: "making some noise".&nbsp;</strong></p>
<p>My blog posts are mainly dedicated to <em>outdoors</em>, <em>surfing</em>, <em>nature </em>and other related topics. The brands I've started to reach out are directly related to that thematic group.&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Bearing in mind that the final goal is to establish the blog in the relevant markets, your approach should be sales oriented from the very first instance.&nbsp;</h3>

<h3>These are neither groundbreaking achievements nor measurable impacts on the visibility of my blog.</h3>
<p>However, they are little steps towards the greater goal of more attention.</p>
<p><strong>Ah, and the fact that "O'Neill Women" (which is one of my very favorite surf brands) liked my tweed was very good for my ego, haha!&nbsp;</strong></p>
<p>What I will do starting from now is to...</p>
<ol>
  <li>...keep communicating in the same line to build "identity".</li>
  <li>...produce content that enables me to smartly include some other established brands or products ("place" them into my videos for example).</li>
  <li>....talk constantly about topics that match with my blog's image and theirs as well.&nbsp;</li>
</ol>
<h2>There are still a lot of cool brands I want to reach out. "Carver" is one that didn't react on my corresponding tweed (tag) for instance:&nbsp;</h2>

<h2><strong>Nice side effect: Besides the promotion for your content, these publications generate traffic from the outside to steemit which strenghthens the platform in general and contributes to its growth in the long term.</strong></h2>
<p><strong>Content is King, but promotion is Queen!</strong></p>
<p>It would be nice to know how you promote your blog outside of steemit's borders, if you are interested in further monetization opportunities (in addition to the rewards you earn on steemit) or if you don't care about these aspects at all.</p>

indeed steemit is a blog that can generate dollars, I hope steemit can continue to grow and can be ranked at the top of the block that can generate dollars

Right ONN - you couldn't have said it better. 

Since I am very new to steemit, I can hardly promote myself. The best thing in my case is to probably concentrate on content and curation. 

What would your advice be for someone who wants to generate more traction on steemit ?

Well I'll tell you what I tell anybody: you need a lot of patience and consistency here. Building a blog - which is a "brand" in the end - needs time and effort. You've already defined your niche (photography) what is an excellent first step. Now, if I were you I'd have a look at your "competitors" (which may become your friends at the same time, since this is a "social" network). Study their blogs, their writing style, their behavior (comments, votes, etc.) and learn from them. If you wanna make it right you should come over at least once per day, vote, comment, blog and learn. As I said: it's work :-)

Thanks for the tips.  As new users are entering the steemit matrix, it is thoughtful of you to point them in the right direction.  When I first started on steemit, I kind of just jumped right in, which has it's good and bad.  

If I hit a replay button, I'd do more research on getting started and read more posts like this one.  In addition, I would entertain a variety of advice on how to accrue more followers.  I'm still kind of all over the place, but at least I'm less spammy, haha.  

It's good to set personal goals in one's steemit activity.  I started making steemit to-do lists: 
* Daily 
* Weekly 
* Monthly  

<h3>A huge point to keep in mind here:</h3><center><h1>**"Steemit activity is way more <br> than just posting!"**</h1></center>

<h4>Being productive on here includes:</h4>
* Upvoting things you read and like
* Replying to posts
* Resteeming Posts
* Trying different [looks on syntax style](https://guides.github.com/features/mastering-markdown/)

So submitting a story is just one aspect of steemit to do's.  Essentially, you don't even have to post on here, and still have a pretty sweet page as a content curator.

Wow! Are you German, too?? Haha! Sorry for that one, but your approach is very analytical. 
To be honest, I haven't ever had any to do lists or strategy papers. However, the points you mention here are all true and important. With regards to the style (format), I think everybody has to find their own one. There is no right or wrong. You should meet some basic rules in order to assure a good reading flow (e.g. leaving spaces between preferably short parragraphs) and highlighting what should be seen first.

I think the most important part of all is the networking. Most people forget the social aspect which is key. They believe that they only need to create (what they consider) "good content", and then people will overrun their blogs... But it's not like that. 

Walking in the streets, how many strangers would tell you that your outfit is good looking? :-)

I'm American, however I do like all things German.  The language, the Art, the women, the beer, the food, the engineering.

I guess I do get emotional about math sometimes, so it's easy for me to over analyse.  

It'll be cool to see how steemit expands outside the screen.  Little Steemit parties popping off around the globe.  Can't wait.

Hi Marly,  just my opinion (( I just joined Steemit yesterday )) but I think You should
directly connect with the CEO's & Marketing Directors of any of the brands You like, use
and want to promote... don't be afraid. Just ask for their secretaries and introduce Yourself...
share Your Steem Videos, Your Tweets, etc... and explain that the world is changing rapidly
EVERY DAY... the traditional/conventional ways of marketing is in the process of an accelerating, transformational, paradigm shift that is occurring right before our eyes...

You may even be hired part-time to promote their products in ways we may not even know, possibly a magazine advertisement or some other type of marketing media they are already using...

You are a VERY likeable person and I feel that You have many more opportunities than You may currently realize...

this is a big thing - learning how to make promotional efforts measurable. otherwise I think it's easy to run in circles working hard on things that might not be super effective. Do you have any ways of measuring, or is it not an important part of your strategy?


The great thing, all internet anxieties aside, is that it IS POSSIBLE. and it doesn't have to be something that happens when you're super young, like people think. My soundcloud page was stuck at 200 followers for years, then I started putting out way more material and promoting better and hit 2,500+ within six months, and 1,900+ on another band account.

It's a long journey tho.

Would you mind to share your soundcloud account? 

It's hard to measure things that don't generate a direct response. If I receive a like, comment, follow or even share (e.g. on Twitter) then it's something I can instantly appreciate. Shares generate even more likes and followers, etc. However there is a huge grey zone, since I have no idea how many of them come over to steemit and effectively read my stuff or even start following me here. 
During the past weeks the number of people who are following my steemit blog has significantly increased. However, this is supposedly due to the general wave of new subscribers. 
Measurement is not my main focus. In the end what counts is that the blog keeps growing, and currently it does...:)

Twitter is really working well for me so far. It's very easy to tag someone else even if you are not directly connected. Plus: a lot of accounts have huge amounts of followers and a simple comment or share can bring you a complete set of new followers, too.
