<div class="text-justify"> I am now on the train back home after what I consider a successful training event, even though the material I created for it was very much lacking, as I had missed a couple translation errors and left a bit un translated. Luckily, I was the second trainer today and the lead was really good and knew the content very well in Finnish, so was able to make up for it. It was also nice to be the second trainer who was essentially "in charge" of keeping people involved and engaged. Not a bad deal. The train I am on is almost empty, even though it should be one of the busiest times for commuting from the capital back to the other cities. With so many people working remotely, it is amazing there are trains running at all, let alone several every hour between the larger cities. I don't mind the emptiness. While home is where the heart is, home at the moment is apparently a pretty cold place to be, hence the blue hue of the pictures. Yesterday, the radiators were installed upstairs, today - *we have no heating at all* and with the overnight temperatures expected to be around -5 Celsius and about zero now, the house is already quite cold and cooling down fast. We have one electric radiator that we can put into Smallsteps' room so she won't freeze, but that isn't going to cut it. It is quite frustrating and disappointing, considering that this is an entirely new heating system installed in late April and we have had trouble with it the whole time. Last night, I was able to catch up with a friend and he was saying how several of his colleagues are on burnout leave and I know several others around the place the same. This is something I predicted at the first mention of "go remote" and the subsequent lockdowns, and I mentioned this to my supervisor to make sure that they keep an eye on how staff are affected. I believe that since it was *so easy* to actually start working remotely, people underestimated the impact it will have on their mental well-being, especially when it is compounded by the other factors of why people had to go remote. People are still living in fear, they are still worried about family, they are still being forced to behave in unnatural ways, they are still uncertain about the future - and many don't have anyone to talk to about it in a way that helps them cope. If anything good does come out of this nonsense, I think it might be that people could realize how despite their protestations, they actually rely on their community heavily for their own health. Normally, we can get annoyed and take people for granted, wishing we could be left alone at times - but once that absence is actually felt, it seems that many of us start to crumble when left to our own devices. Quite fitting in this day and age as, we are literally left to *our own devices* and when we "do as we please" - we don't seem to do a very good job of managing ourselves or our time effectively. Like my friend said last night, many people don't seem suited to making the choice of what they should work on and do better when they have to get up and go to work each day, essentially having their tasks outlined for them. It is an interesting conflict when so many people wish to "be free" yet when they are to even some degree, they look for structure and culture to tell them what to do. I think that many people are actually quite glad for the lockdown restrictions dictated by governments, as it means they can feel like they are doing something useful without having to think about what is useful or if it is relevant themselves. For me, I know that I need both the space to be alone and the space to be with people I can relax with and talk about all kinds of things. I also know that while the digital world is suitable for some parts of social experience, it falls far short of being able to completely fill the social void, no matter how much people seem to want it too. Many seem to think that real life is too messy, so seek out the escape of digital, but I get the sense that the people who are living too much digital life are the messiest among us, people who are often suffering all kinds of mental ailments. It could be that without the tempering effect that socializing can have on us, the mind starts to wander, lose structure and unravel - whilst simultaneously losing the connection and compassion for real people. Everyone becomes an avatar in an engineered world, feeling invincible alone in the digital world, but also lonely and vulnerable, making them less likely to venture out to find real connection. I think more people are feeling blue than they will have let on, but also do not want to show the world that they are uncertain, unsure about their place in an environment that has shifted in ways that most people didn't predict. >Blue are the people here that walk around Blue like my corvette its standing outside Blue are the words I say and what I think Blue are the feelings that live inside me. I think the anarchist should be having a field day with this, they are left to their own devices for once. People think a structureless life is what they want, that they want to be the ones calling the shots. With the lock down, it is the people now that are in charge of themselves. Nature is not structureless, it has form and that form flows to function, people just do not function well in a structurless society.

>people just do not function well in a structurless society. It is much like how everyone wants to have the money and lifestyle of a wealthy entrepreneur, but don't actually have what it takes to do the early work required to live that life later. Even later, most of those wealthy entrepreneurs are still working harder than most people doing things most people would feel uncomfortable doing as it would mean missing out on Dancing with the Stars.

Is "Dancing with the Stars" still on TV? Yeah, people think that having it handed to them is going to solve all their problems. I am glad I am not one of the rich and famous, I mean it would be boring as hell waiting for someone to tie your shoes, no wonder so many of them wear the slip on kind of shoes.

Life is not simple, the human being is complicated by nature. Looking for the correct answer is like looking for a needle in a haystack. So it is better to let everything happen naturally, since life itself is messy and as people we seek tranquility, to think aloud and perhaps reach the right people, we think so, but who knows life is complicated.

Perhaps we make it far more complicated than it needs to be, by trying to continually fight against our nature. There are some aspects that we should battle, yet we seem to take an approach that amplifies our negatives and undermines our positives.

I actually like to be alone. Well, with Sam, of course-and he's off visiting for a while. I know that if I spend too much time alone I get to thinking I know what I am talking about even if I'm not talking to anyone. So, it's a good thing that I go to a couple of meetings per week AND have a friend over a couple of times a week for coffee. I get a chance to say some of the crazy shit I come up with and read the reaction. :) I actually think a lot of people don't get their normal curiosity fulfilled when working remotely. They don't have any idea how to stimulate their own thoughts-they need somebodies input to start them thinking. If they don't have the input they don't think of anything but work. Your heating system is at full fail? How can that be? Is it because they were working on the system and didn't finish or is it more sinister than that? That's just pretty rude.

Having an outlet of some kind is important I reckon and it is more important that the outlet is face to face at least sometimes. A lot of our communication is non-verbal, which means that if we "go remote" we are actually losing a lot of the content that makes us human. We don't seem to consider that there is more value to communication than just to get our point across. I agree that most people these days don't seem to have much ability to entertain themselves, which comes through years of being conditioned to be fed entertainment. The heating system pipes were clogged and, the backup (it heats with electricity when the air/water exchanges isn't on) wasn't even attached......

I agree with you that many people now experience the blues. Mental health should be a priority and I think that there are a lot of people who would need a good word, a gentle touch, a comforting conversation. I think it takes a lot of mental power to overcome the social pressure of not being social anymore !ENGAGE 20

I have been dealing with ups and downs, I am mainly focused/concerned about my salon, as my city closed down due to a very high incident of covid. Quite busy with the handpainted leather bags and it feels nice to go out of my comfort zone. I feel the need for quiet and solitude as it helps me to restore my energy and think about the things I want to achieve. As for all, it was a tough 2020. Be close to nature and have moments with yourself in silence, this is one piece of advice I would give. It works for me and I have found that it is necessary for my well being to have moments away from technology, people, urban life, in order to remain balanced. How are you and smallsteps, how is work? I bragged to G-dog that I managed to shoot with a gun for the first time, I am still so very proud of myself lol

I think it isn't that hard over all, as HBD is a percentage of author rewards and the DAO, but doesn't appear elsewhere. Rather than doing the math to split author rewards into 50/50 HIVE/HBD, it could just be 100% HIVE, split in half HP/liquid. the DAO conversion I am not sure about. It would be interesting is if the internal market did integrate other tokens, wouldn't it? A credit card or SEPA transfer might be good also.<div class="pull-right"><a href="/@hive.engage"></a></div>

No idea what is actually wrong with it, but a guy came last night and did some jiggling and it is on at least. Will have to track it and see how it goes. I am not very happy as it is the single most expensive thing we have done to our house so far.

Interesting that here in the US we are also seeing reports of burnout as people's borders between their work and home life blur. Some surprises mentioned here include: People work longer hours, they spend more time on work then family, People call each other outside normal work hours, normally reserved for family time. People have no social interaction except work, which is terrible if you dislike your coworkers. Some Employers exploit the fact that many are out of work and have unreasonable demands for time, effort, productivity on workers. Humans have a amazing capacity for the super humane and the super inhumane. And we are amazingly adaptable, even to unhealthy situations until we are seemingly suddenly unhealthy, when perhaps we were sliding into unhealthyness all along. I travel for work like you and I was travelling in near empty planes and near empty airports for months. It had a zombie apocalypse kind of appearance. It made me somewhat accepting of the fact I could die young due to Covid-19. But the landscape was so barren, and the social events so few, it seems like some of my existence had died already.

>as people's borders between their work and home life blur. People used to go home to escape - then they would escape further into TV or Netflix, now there is no escape and they realize that they have retreated so far, they are alone. I fear that we are constantly being adapted to worse and worse conditions, getting us used to a life of debt slavery. Humans survived the concentration camps, it doesn't mean that they should have been subjected to those conditions in the first place. It seems that travel these days might be one of the safest places to be, considering how few people were on the train.
