<div class="text-justify"> I am feeling pretty good today, as the remote client sessions I organized have been successful - there was 6 today and another 4 coming tomorrow. While not quite enough to make up a 40% cut, it is close enough that I can say that for this month at least, I will be back to a zero point in regards to my salaried job, even though I am still short for my own business by a "fair bit". But as said, I am feeling satisfied to be able to at least claw back something and the ground held here can become future gains. I think that in general, when there is uncertainty in the water or a highly dynamic environment - if there is the option to "sit this one out", many will - while there will be the minority who proactively push themselves to keep playing in the mud and rain. While it might not look like they are getting much at the time, those gains compound into the future and small amounts stack up into a strong foundation. https://i.imgur.com/q6F91On.jpg The other thing that it does is that it keeps and creates relationships and demonstrates a willingness to work while others are seemingly incapacitated and unable. This in itself is a big part of the process as *keeping* moving* is a habit building activity, while standing still will eventually be the default position. I think that this is a lot like how Hive operates when it comes to developing an audience or an account - there are those who had the habit of continuance through the thick and thin, those who left and those who degraded and offered far less than their best, because it wasn't worth the effort to do so. Pretty much everyone wants economic gains from Hive in some way, shape or form - but less are willing to do what it takes for those small gains. The current business environment is much like Hive during a long bear market, the competition in many areas has dropped away and there are those with resources who are wanting to spend, looking for something to spend it on. There are less in the pool as many are at home taking it relatively easy, with a lot of larger businesses not agile enough to maintain their base and therefore, some will slip through the cracks, especially when all businesses are looking to save on costs. A small business could offer much the same without the overheads of the large. "Overheads" is an important factor in the future of Hive, as it will hopefully allow developers and business share costs in various ways, meaning that there end deliveries can be lower priced. Factor in the automation of the economy and the precision of calculation, and there is far less leakage to middlemen operators. On top of this, there can be the stability of the distributed ecosystem, where it isn't reliant on any one large business, but rather, many small. This means there will be economic efficiencies and business inefficiencies that balances the books and still gives opportunity for newcomers into the market, competition and collaboration. The collaboration part is an important component of a decentralized network, as while individuals can go in an infinite number of directions, to solve large problems and create large solutions, it requires cooperation; and that cooperation needs to be enduring over time for long enough that a suitable outcome is reached. This is something that is hard to do and what consensus looks to achieve in some way, but going past hardforks, it is likely that multiple groups will need to collaborate to accomplish the larger goals of the network, those that might be needed for adoption. I think that this is where the Hive Development Fund would be at its most valuable, creating tools that are not standalone, but can be *easily* integrated into other tools to improve the experience of end users, to make it easier to onboard, to help people along their journey to track and grow, invest and divest, *breathe* with Hive being part of their daily experience. In time, this intertwines and develops more relationships and encourages end users to bring in more end users to benefit from the community in multiple ways, and then the community benefits from them. For most of those who gain in this life, there are periods of hustle and while many might "make hay while the sun shines", there are others who plant the seeds when the ground is fertile, before the earth is trampled by many feet, when the rains support growth. There are always opportunities in an economy, in the ups and the downs. From a development perspective however, it might be better to grow the market that loves the product, than try to steal a market who can be stolen when something better comes along. Apps will come and go, platforms can work like cities, they can endure flood, plague and all kinds of disaster - as long as they quietly keep supporting their citizens. A city doesn't care how we live - it just needs some hustle and bustle around it. Taraz [ Gen1: Hive ] </div>

>While it might not look like they are getting much at the time, those gains compound into the future and small amounts stack up into a strong foundation. That's why majority of people do not achieve success as initial effort to money seems too small. But what they miss is the opportunity cost. It rarely starts really big, or at least i have not heard of such cases. >Pretty much everyone wants economic gains from Hive in some way, shape or form - but less are willing to do what it takes for those small gains. This is the type of people that say "oh, if i only started YT channel when it launched i'd be millionaire now". It's just the type of people. Not every venture succeeds not all the time is justified. I gave up on steem a while ago, for reasons I've mentioned many times if anybody would listen. I'm giving Hive a shot, will see how it goes. At least i'm enjoying the content creation part now since it feels more fair for me at least. I still think Hive lacks utility at least for now, there is not much you can do with the token but stake it, it can be forked again with basically same functionality in case part of community decides to move on and lose it's value. So it is still speculative. from financial perspective i can not justify my time spent on the platform, but i just enjoy it. Your earnings can go to almost 0 or they can bloat up. I guess that's the most attractive part of it. Hope and fun while it lasts :)

Once again, I agree. We have needs (big solutions) but we actually have a path toward finding them. Ordinary people (me) need to remain active, providing support or, just as important, non support and feedback either way. Nobody gets a free pass :) I'm not sure quite how it fits here, but some money is following the depressed markets pretty carefully around here. Short term rental housing is a screaming bargain right now as are used cars. Particularly the used car market is really in the toilet and about to get much worse. Hertz is considering bankruptcy which would put 500,000 more units into the used market. So, no matter where you turn there is opportunity in the market, be it brick and mortar or Hive.

>Hertz is considering bankruptcy which would put 500,000 more units into the used market. This is a massive amount into any market - I think that is a quarter of all the cars in Finland though! Not everyone can develop or run a business, but since we are all consumers, we can make better buying decisions.

I like the way you expressed your thoughts. Iβm glad there are many devs working so hard on Hive, that would help the community later on. These developments will later help when the team focuses on marketing. Then, there will be a product to sell - advertise. That notwithstanding, there are not so much support for content creators and SEO enthusiasts whose works can help the platform on a long run.

>That notwithstanding, there are not so much support for content creators and SEO enthusiasts whose works can help the platform on a long run. I think that there is an element of helping oneself in this arena too, meaning that while I do believe content creators should be rewarded in various ways, I also think that each should also be a consumer of the platform too, buying in, powering up - helping others. It is interesting when I see on one-hand someone say they aren't rewarded enough for their content, yet are also posting about the new consumer items they have purchased - but are yet to buy a single HIVE. I have seen this from some people for almost 4 years and I think it strange that some still don't get it. This is about ownership, not getting paid. The rewards give a chance for ownership.

I have to agree with you on that. It is relevant that one show commitment to the platform by buying tokens, powering up, and so on. That is true, but it doesnβt negate the fact that without support, eventually Hive would lose good content curators. For example, in a company, one way they market themselves is through contents. It is not surprising that most companies hire SEO experts, and content creators that would help them rank on Google. As I commented earlier in a post about SEO, that can be found on the trending page, Hive needs to give attention to that. It needs to attract more SEO centric writers, whose works would bring in new visitors. It is the best way to market the site organically.

Do you find this happens often? I find it does, partly because there are some people who take stock of events and circumstances and then try to work out what they mean in combination - many people these days grab headlines and then move onto the next without connecting a dot - a fragmented view of the world and one that isn't conducive to building a coherent approach to action.

Yes, I do find it happens often. I believe - partly - that it is because one can't listen to advice he doesn't want to hear. He just glides over the words without paying too much attention.

Where I live is a small city, it isn't very hustly or bustly :) I like to visit very large cities, but I am not sure if I would want to live in one long-term. These days, I like walking in the forests close by with the dog.

Problem is that people have become short-cut crazy. They want to do as little as they can, as quick as they can, with little effort. If something even smells like work, they head for the hills. Missed chances and missed opportunity people. Offer 1000 Hive in a challenge and you will easily draw hundreds of entrants. Ask for help that takes some work and you will be lucky to get five answers. In the end it will be always that five that will make it.
