Super curious to how the people who voted for Trump will comment to this post...

I've been watching this video on [North Korea](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VISDGlpX0WI) and it is FASCINATING... the effort that has gone into controlling its population is immense.

According to your values. And, more importantly, based on the information that the media *you* consume gives *you*. Just as you say, it's hard to trust these days. We judge by who we are, not by what we know, as the latter is distorted. 

Whistle-Blowers are only ever cherished if the information they disclose goes against the values of those who are reached and have enough power to amplify and reach more. Someone has to care. And as soon as someone cares, emotions are involved, and as soon as emotions are involved, manipulation is so easy as everything in our media consumption is pure emotion. 

Information is so 1995. 

We know that. Most of those actively choosing HIVE know it, I think. That's why they're here. 

Also, it would be great to have some links to the headline that you posted, to be able to read the article without having to re-type the headline. Defending journalism and such... sources are important! 

It's sad how easily truth gets lost in all the noise. We’ve reached a point where personality matters more than principles, and loyalty often overrides logic, when people stop questioning and just pick sides, it’s not about what’s right anymore it’s just about winning.

There are honestly so many layers to this.  Probably more than I could get into in a single comment.  Actually, I think it's more likely that I would need to come up with some kind of outline to actually organize my thoughts.  I'm not surprised by this, there has always been a disdain for journalists.  I think the first red flag was that one that got assassinated.  Like a decade ago I think.

Yup.. all the negatives personified.. indeed! and u don't need to be a whistle blower to see that! 😁😉🤙

Internet is really exploited in such a way that there's an increasing number of scam issues and all those fake news which you can't rely on.

Mainstream media has been abused for as long as it's run, ruling party always coerce the narrative that is released.

Under Apartheid with Nationalist Party they did it, along came ANC who learned manipulation tricks along with corruption to the "T". 

Never a leader Mr Trump works with a Team orchestrating an outcome he thrives for, an efficient one that I see from my side of the pond. As does Mr Ramaphosa with ANC Cadres, some are good, majority rotten to the core.

Research and read for oneself wherever possible, find the right people to listen to. From where we stand more likely than not individuals on podcasts. Too much money tied up in politics along with big pay checks to those who spin the narrative in their favour.

We Americans, in our self-righteousness, have long been the most gullible of peoples on the earth; because 50% of us trust our obviously corrupt government, administration after administration. I don't believe a word that comes from the White House now, but neither did I believe a word that came from the Biden White House. If one follows either of the two major parties unquestioningly, or nearly so, that one has been bamboozled.

His supporters see something very different, *because they are being shown something very different,* and disbelieve reports to the contrary. Just as Biden or Obama supporters could not, *would not,* give any credence to negatives that the right attributed to both of them. Politics is all for show, it's entertainment that skillfully keeps us 50-50 at each others' throats.  

The Trump supporters live in an alternative reality where alternative facts are created for them. And no amount of real data you throw at them will make any difference. 

Sadly even when Trump actions impact them negatively they will believe that it is all "Demoncrats" fault. 

The media should be impartial. It should objectively reveal what is happening. The bias and unreliability of the media causes us to see the truth. We learn what is right and wrong and vice versa.

You really make a strong point i must say. The truth is if a government forces journalists to reveal their sources, free speech is in danger, no matter who’s in power. Trump is just one face of a deeper problem: many people would rather follow a familiar voice, even if it harms them, than admit they might be wrong. When truth feels optional, everyone picks a side and digs in. I really don't like Trump myself because of his government policies. Imagine coming into power for the second regime not up to two year you have already disorganised everything on your own way. Many people do say that he is doing all these because he loves his country dearly. I hope that's true!

The sad part is that with all our technology and information, trust keeps shrinking. Hardly can one find a legit new and information today on Internet without a bit of propaganda. Maybe the first step back is choosing to question our own biases before blaming “the other side.”
