Yeah it's a topic that could hardly be skipped for anyone who knew about it. 

Ethereum's price are far from their all-time high. I mostly see these as fluctuation rather than real valuation increase.

Thank you for your interest. I going to put this as simple as possible but I won't cut corners. The wealth distribution is one of the most important factor for all crypto. If all Bitcoin were own by one person Bitcoin would worth 0$. Bitcoin has the best distribution. All other crypto owners are early Bitcoin miners and investors. Those who were first to mine Bitcoin were the first to mine Litecoin and all other altcoins. They are the one owning the most altcoins. Because the wealth of those altcoins is more concentrated than Bitcoin people will try to diversify their altcoin investment into Bitcoin if they have the chance. 

To get a better understanding, take a look at (https://bitinfocharts.com/) the columns wealth distribution and addresses richer than. Compare Bitcoin to Litecoin, Dash, Dogecoin and Peercoin. The price going up or down doesn't change those %. 

When coins move toward the top of the pyramid or concentrate the coin ultimately lose some value. I.e. if someone owns all Ethereum then the value of Ethereum is 0$. Ethereum seems pretty widely concentrated. https://etherscan.io/accounts Worst than Dogecoin, Litecoin or Dash.  isdue to the initial distribution made through its ICO. That being said the technology behind Ethereum is great. It might not solve humanity's most pressing problems but it might do very good for the cryptocurrency world. 

Monero's distribution can't be known yet it must be pretty concentrated too but I have no idea how it compares to other crypto.  

All that being said, since January 2016, Ethereum, Dash and Monero all had crazy price performance even compare to Bitcoin itself. They have beaten Bitcoin by many magnitudes. 

Steem and Steem distribution is another matter onto itself.

"Is Ethereum safe? I don’t think so. I absolutely cannot guarantee that the network won’t be 51% attacked" - The same applies to Bitcoin or any other PoW-blockchain. No one can guarantee there wouldn't be attack. Luckily for us as ethereum network grows rapidly in value, thanks to so many devs on all kinds of projects, there will be more miners and hashrate making this 51÷ attack ingreasingly difficult.

"I cannot usually guarantee that a smart contract will behave as expected " - Just as with any programs - there can be bugs. Lots of people are working on making this problem go away though. 

Bashing other chains won't make Steem rise and them fall - I'd say the effect will be quite the opposite at least in terms of brain leak.

Some differences between ethereum and steem, while we are on the topic:
1. Ethereum was announced well in advance by Vitalik. There were no shady mining and relaunching of project like in steem. Rather they setup an ico where everyone is eqial. Do you see the difference? 

2.Steem ecosystem has so many less devs than ethereum that it isn't even funny. Course won't change anytime soon. Believe me.

When the other frontrunning coin is out there mass marketing that they are the digital cash of the future and everyone should use their (*cryptocurrency in it's infant stages without enough testing to secure billions of dollars*) product, it's refreshing to hear someone speak honestly about their product (as Ethereum always has) and try to keep the masses away at this early phase of the unknown.

Many feel that it's a much better approach, and can help ensure a slow gradual (some would say "proper") growth. It's the responsible approach I feel and it seems to have worked. I know I'm feeling no pain. =)

I linked both the tweet and his full post.  It was weird of him in my opinion. 

As for the technology, the scalability issue is a real issue for any coin which doesn't use graphene/DPOS. I'm not saying it can't be solved any other way than what DPOS handles it, I'm just reporting what I see about the issue.

That would be somewhat ironic.
