Not feeling like arting much today so I thought I might share a few works in progress. The first two are preliminary images from an NFT storybook idea I am working on, tentatively titled “ Shadows Don’t Have Eyes” a storybook for adults about the horrors of being a child who has nightmarish visions.  This is based on my own experiences as a child and my parents attempts to comfort me not understanding the depth of my terror. I slept with my parents until third grade and still keep a nightlight on as an adult. I remember seeing faces in the dark that just became scarier and scarier until I thought I would go mad from their stares. My grandmother finally gave me what sounded like good advice. “Stare them down” Did not go as well as you would think. Anyway; the story will feature an inner journey and a cast of characters on the way.  My other project is my “Dark Ladies” series for #nftshowroom made up of pencil drawings edited in Procreate. The top image below, “Mischievous Sisters” is one I need to step back from because I am having difficulty making executive decisions.  This next Image “ Imparting Knowledge” is one I was working on for a contest but of course I misconstrued when the deadline was so I missed it; part of why I am feeling rather bummed and uninspired today.  Kind of out of order because I am posting from my phone; but here are some preliminary sketches from my “ Dark Ladies” series.    I just got some crayons to color with maybe that will inspire me. Hi Dania, This is a cool story, and I can relate. While I had always my own bed, I used to be so scared of monsters I slept with my blanket over my head and tightly wrapped around me, almost choking because it was hard to breathe. The thought of getting out of bed I had the fear if I stuck my feet out some monster under my bed will grab them. Eventually, this changed. In school I surprised myself, though being one of the smaller kids, that I won all my fights. So the time came when this old line was my leading thought: "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, because I am the meanest son of a bitch in the valley".

The fear of being a child, especially one with a deep imagination, is not something to be flippant about. I wonder if parents forget or if they just didn’t know. Did you ever have visions as well? I might imagine someone with your creativity might. You may have forgotten if they didn’t linger. Perhaps it was because I grew up in the pitch blackness of the woods but I had Level 5 CEVs since I was little so I was too concerned about the monsters surrounding my bed staring at me to look underneath. My mom would keep saying “ its just the shadows” while I am in terror of these eyes staring at me.
