Leesha awoke with a male organ thrusting into her hungrily. She opened her eyes. “Travis!” she cried out quietly.
	
“Shh!” he urged. “I needed a turn while Fain is outside.”
	
“You may have me whenever you like,” Leesha permitted. “Am I allowed to have favorites?”
	
“You may not refuse anyone in this building,” Travis reminded her. “But if you like me, I’ll have you whenever you like as well.”
	
“I do like you,” she replied, smiling. She liked Fain a little more, but only a little.
	
“Then shut up!” he growled, lowering himself enough to take her lips as he pounded into her. She met each thrust with her own lustful ones.
	
“Have me!” she cried out in her mind, wondering whose child she might conceive first. As he emptied his seed into her, she knew that life could be worse. She could be forced to work in the mines like her late father was, dying of a terrible lung disease when she was little – forcing Leesha and her mother to take up being barmaids at the pub. Then her mother died in childbirth, leaving Leesha on her own. Having her own child would give her the family she always wanted.
	
Leesha lay inexplicably happy as Travis rested upon her, his organ still inside her twitching its final drops of seed into her, even as she saw Fain come back into the room. If she could not refuse anyone, then he could not get angry with her for laying with another guard.
	
She caught his eye as he approached.
	
“Give me my woman back,” Fain demanded.
	
“She likes me too,” Travis returned, pulling out of her. “Under the conditions of women of the guardhouse, I will take her whenever I like.”
	
“Give her back,” he repeated. He looked at Leesha again, catching her eye. “You might want to wash up. Stella is coming to check the new ladies.”
	
“There was also the woman Nidan likes…,” Travis said. “Take her for a spin.”
	
“Nidan is better with the sword than I,” Fain replied.
	
“As am I,” Travis reminded.
	
“Not that much better.”
	
Travis kissed Leesha again, possessing her mouth. Then he got up. “I’m a sharing type,” he said. “She’s yours tonight.”
	
Fain grunted.
	
Leesha tried not to laugh as she went to clean up and put on one of the skimpy outfits like what Nancy wore this morning as she came in, Nidan right behind her.
	
“Stella is here,” Nidan’s voice sounded. “Where is Valston and his little panther?”
	
“I think they slept in the stables last night,” Travis said with a grin. “That one is too wild for this room!”
	
“I will find her when we are done,” an old woman said as she came in much more briskly than should have been possible, Leesha observed. “There are two new women in here if I’m correct? Asaya, remain so that I can examine you as well.”
	
Leesha realized that this woman wasn’t used to being disobeyed!
	
She stopped first where Nancy had stopped. She got out a crystal and waved it over the young woman.  Stella looked at her with sorrow. “I’m sorry, but I don’t think you will ever carry a child. Did your husband do something to you?”
	
“He beat me, Stella. He did things that no one should do to a human being, putting things up inside me other than himself. That was meant to be punishment for bleeding when I should have been carrying his child.”
	
“I’m sorry, Nancy, but I think he did permanent damage to you.”
	
Her eyes filled with tears, making Leesha pity her.
	
“I am still better off here than I was with my husband,” Nancy replied. “I’m sad I cannot bear children, but I can serve the King’s Guard without fear.”
	
“I will give you some herbs if you wish to bolster your chances, but the chances are still slim,” Stella added.
	
Nancy nodded sadly.
	
Leesha wondered if she could bear such bad news so well. She almost feared as the old woman turned her gaze upon Leesha. She approached and waved her crystal around. “Do not fear, child,” Stella said. “Nancy’s bad news is not yours.” She smiled reassuringly.
	
Leesha wondered what that meant.
	
“You are pregnant, child,” Stella said with a smile.
	
Leesha looked at Fain instantly. They had been together first, after all.
	
Stella shook her head. “It isn’t his. Travis is the father.”
	
Leesha looked at Travis then, somehow grateful at the news, but also feeling bad for Fain. “How?”
	
Stella shrugged. “Faster? Better timed? I cannot speculate further than that. Now, I need to see the young woman in the stables. I presume she was also given reason to wonder this morning?”
	
“Yes… our new King...” Nancy said. “It was dreadful.”
	
Stella nodded. “I will tend to her.”
	
The old woman left.
	
Asaya looked at Nancy with shock. Evidently, she knew what they had said. “Is she okay?” Asaya asked.
	
“Probably. Immagen is a tough girl – but that’s exactly why the King treated her the way he did,” Nancy explained. “It was one of our coworkers who betrayed her to the King.”
	
“What scum!” Asaya replied.
	
“He’s here now, so I think Valston will stick with her to protect her from him.”
	
“Valston?” Asaya asked, looking surprised. “Is he in love?”
	
“Maybe,” Nancy admitted.
	
“That would be good. I would have chosen him for the father of my baby had it not been Chester. Valston is a good man.”
	
“I’m glad to hear that. However, if you should happen to see that slinky, slimy Jake, you should never trust him with anything.”
	
“I will remember that.”
	
“We all should. I don’t know what that man is capable of. He may be a lazy weakling, but he’s smart and dangerous.”
	
“Then I pray that he gets what he deserves – quickly,” Asaya bade.
