5 Gründe, warum die STEEM-Blockchain NICHT zu TRON migriert wird (aus Sicht eines Entwicklers)

## #1 Technischer Aufwand ist zu groß ##

Gute Blockchain-Entwickler sind rar und teuer und so ein komplexes System wie Steem vollständig in Tron nachzubilden bedeutet einen enormen technischen Aufwand. Das geht nicht von heute auf morgen und würde vielleicht sogar Jahre dauern.

Denkt doch einmal darüber nach, wie lange Steemit Inc. gebraucht hat, um Communities oder SMT zu implementieren und wie viele Bugs bei jedem Hardfork aufgetreten sind.

Oder wie lange Voice trotz EOS-Backing und technischer Expertise braucht, um an den Start zu gehen und selbst Voice läuft übrigens auf einer Sidechain und nicht EOS.

## #2 Skalierung ##

Stellt euch vor alle DApps, Gambling Apps und sozialen Netzwerke würden auf einer einzigen Blockchain wie Tron oder EOS laufen. Ich sage euch, das ist technisch im Moment gar nicht möglich, da Blockchains von Natur aus sehr schlecht bis gar nicht skalieren. Daher macht es durchaus Sinn, dass man stark genutzte DApps wie Steemit auf einer eigenen Chain betreibt, die sich dann nur auf Social Media fokussiert.

## #3 Risiko ##

Ein komplexes über 4 Jahre gewachsenes System wie Steem auf eine andere Chain zu migrieren, stellt ein enormes Risiko dar. Nicht nur die Implementierung, sondern auch die Community. Es würde dann ziemlich sicher zu einem Fork kommen und das wäre sicher nicht im Interesse von Tron.

## #4 Was passiert mit dem alten Content bei einer Migration? ##

Eine Migration oder Neuentwicklung würde viele ungelöste Fragen aufwerfen. Zum Beispiel was passiert mit den alten Daten (Beiträge, Kommentare, Delegationen, etc.), wie können diese auf Tron migriert werden, ohne Tron zu überlasten? Was passiert mit dem Steem Dollar, und und und.

## #5 Selbst Facebook hat bei der Übernahme von WhatsApp und Instagramm die Produkte nicht auf facebook.com migriert ##

Akquisitionen sind in der Wirtschaftwelt keine Seltenheit sondern gängige Praxis. Aber nicht immer gelingt es den Großkonzernen Startups vollständig in ihre Firma zu integrieren, sondern oft ist es sogar besser das Team einfach weiterarbeiten zu lassen und die Produkte nicht zu verschmelzen. Bestes Beispiel ist Facebook, das immer noch 3 separate Messaging-Dienste betreibt: Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp und Instagram Direct Messages.

Selbst Microsoft hat Skype lange Zeit unabhängig weiterarbeiten lassen und sogar sein eigenes Messaging Produkt (MSN Messenger) eingestellt.

Ähnliches auch bei der YouTube/Google-Übernahme.

## Fazit ##

Insgesamt gesehen glaube ich, dass es wahrscheinlicher ist, dass Steem erhalten bleibt, aber dass Brücken zu Tron gebaut werden und man vielleicht in Zukunft auch TRX auf Steem/Steemit verwenden kann und umgekehrt. Eine Kooperation mit Tron hat jedenfalls auch großes Potential und könnte Steemit wieder zu einem Top-Kryptoprojekt machen.

5 reasons the STEEM blockchain will NOT be migrated to TRON from a developer point of view

## #1 Technical effort is too high ##

Good blockchain developers are extremely rare and expensive and to reproduce such a complex system like Steem completely in Tron means an enormous technical effort. This can't be done overnight and might even take years.

Think about how long it took Steemit Inc. to implement communities or SMT and how many bugs occurred with each hardfork.

Or how long it took Voice to launch despite the EOS backing and technical expertise of Dan Larimer, and even Voice is running on a sidechain and not EOS at the moment.

## #2 Scaling ##

Imagine all DApps, Gambling Apps and social networks of the world running on a single blockchain like Tron or EOS. I tell you, this is technically impossible at the moment, because blockchains by nature scale very badly or not at all. So it makes sense to run heavily used DApps like Steemit on a chain of their own, which can then only focus on social media for example.

## #3 Risk ##

Migrating a complex system that has grown over 4 years, such as Steem, to another chain represents an enormous risk. Not only the development, but also the community, which is even more important. A migration would almost certainly result in a fork and that would certainly not be in the interest of Tron.

## #4 What happens to the old content during a migration? ##

A migration or new development would raise many unresolved questions. For example what happens to the old data (blog posts, comments, delegations etc) how can it be migrated to Tron without overloading Tron? What happens with Steem Dollar and so on?

## #5 Even Facebook, when acquiring WhatsApp and Instagram, did not migrate the products to facebook.com ##

Acquisitions are not a rarity in the business world, they are common practice. However, large corporations do not always succeed in integrating start-ups fully into their company. In fact, it is often better to simply let a proven team continue working and not to merge the products. ## Conclusion ##

Overall, I think it is more likely that Steem will be preserved, but that bridges to Tron will be built and maybe in the future TRX can be used on Steem/Steemit and vice versa. Anyway, a cooperation with Tron also has great potential and could make Steemit a top cryptoproject again.
