From factory to customer: First Tesla car self drives from Gigafactory Texas to its new customer, 30 min away. Cool, but one thing is missing.

Tesla hat den Direkt-Vertrieb von Autos revolutioniert. Praktisch auf so vielen Ebenen den Mittelmann wegrationalisiert. Man braucht keine Zwischenhändler mehr, um Autos zu kaufen und vor Kurzem hat Tesla sogar ein Auto mit dem autonomen Autopiloten direkt von der Fabrik zum Kunden ausgeliefert. Science Fiction.

Ok, Letzteres war eher ein Marketing-Stunt, da FSD noch nicht so weit ist, wie man das gerne hätte, aber Tesla zeigt damit klar, in welche Richtung es geht.

Alles wird immer mehr automatisiert, Arbeitsplätze, Mittelmänner und Zwischenhändler eingespart.

Aber trotz der ganzen Automatisierung fehlt noch etwas. Und zwar der Preis für Autos müsste dramatisch fallen.

So wie das bei allen Technik-Produkten in den letzten Jahren der Fall war, müssten E-Autos tendenziell sehr viel billiger werden.

In den USA oder Deutschland produzierte Autos sind aber immer noch zu teuer und können trotz Automatisierung nicht mit der chinesischen Konkurrenz mithalten. Zumindest preis-mäßig.

Woran liegt das eurer Meinung? Warum werden Autos nicht sehr viel billiger und zugänglicher?

Fun fact: Was bei den autonom fahrenden Autos etwas creepy ist, sind die vielen Kameras, die anscheinend den Kamera-Feed direkt an den Hersteller übertragen können. Ähnlich wie bei Laptops sollte es eine Möglichkeit geben, zumindest die Kamera im Inneren des Fahrzeugs deaktivieren zu können.

Tesla has revolutionized direct car sales. It has essentially eliminated the middleman on so many levels. You no longer need intermediaries to buy cars, and Tesla recently even delivered a car with its autonomous autopilot directly from the factory to the customer. Science fiction.

Okay, the latter was more of a marketing stunt, as FSD is not yet as advanced as we would like, but Tesla is clearly showing the direction it is heading in.

Everything is becoming increasingly automated, saving jobs, middlemen, and intermediaries.

But despite all the automation, something is still missing. Lower prices. The price of cars needs to fall dramatically.

As has been the case with so many tech products in recent years, electric cars should tend to become much cheaper.

However, cars produced in the US or Germany are still too expensive and, despite automation, cannot compete with their Chinese counterparts. At least price-wise.

Why do you think that is? Why aren't cars becoming much cheaper and more affordable?

Fun fact: What's a little creepy about self-driving cars is the many cameras that can apparently transmit the camera feed directly to its manufacturer. Similar to laptops, there should be a way to at least disable the camera inside the vehicle.

I think, besides the fact that the cost of producing a car is just lower in China because of lower wages in general etc., especially german car manufacturers took too long to realize that many people don't want to spend loads of money on a big car but just want a cheap car that does the job of getting you from A to B.
Most of them don't really offer any small cars at the moment, but mostly SUVs and middle class cars and therefore people who just want a cheap car will prefer other brands like Hyundai where you can get a smaller model for about 15.000€.

Kleinwagen werden in Deutschland kaum gekauft. Die Leute kaufen lieber dicke SUV weil die angeblich "sicherer" sind. 
Dann müßten die aber eher mit der Bahn fahren, das ist viel sicherer als autofahren. Ist ein Scheinargument / Ausrede für mich.
