Viele hundert mal habe ich das gemacht. 

Ich habe das Zeug in Großpackung leer bekommen und muss mir jetzt langsam wieder eine neue besorgen. 

Der Normalo, soll einfach seine zwei Würste draufmachen und ein bisschen hin und herverschieben, damit es einen netten Unterdruck gibt. Das Gefühl dabei, spielt die wichtigste Rolle. Weder die Qualität der Wärmeleitpaste noch das Auftragen alleine reichen da aus, wenn man wirklich auf das letzte Grad raus will. 

Es ist ein Zusammenspiel- Denn wir werden nie wirklich wissen, wie es unter unserem Heatspreader aussieht. Dafür müsste man immer wieder gegentesten, unter gleichen Bedinungen. 

Ich vermisse Silber als Hauptbestandteil in Wärmeleitpasten. Aber der Zug ist seit Ewigkeiten abgefahren und war quasi unbekannt. 

Deswegen war das Zeug übrigens früher auch so Teuer.

Als Lackaffe, kann ich dir auch Wärmeleitpaste zammixen und als Schlangenöl verkaufen. Alles keine Kunst. Aber mit der Liebe zum Detail eine Wissenschaft. :-)

Übrigens, habe ich auch schon eine GPU so kaputt gemacht. Es kam ein Sandkorn drunter beim Einbau... Dann war es das, mit der GPU normalerweise.

Deswegen, lieber nicht machen!!!

I tend to go for the pea sized blob in the centre, which seems to work fine based on cpu temps whenever I do it. I've been impressed with people going to the lengths of using a clear plastic covering to demonstrate the different spread and coverage - and I seem to remember the X and pea sized blob came out pretty much the same.

Seit der 12 Intel Gen verwende ich lieber das X als den Punkt, da die CPU ja nun nicht mehr Quadratisch ist sondern ein Rechteck, da hat man mit dem X die bessere Chance eine Gleichmäßige und relativ Flächendeckenden Bereich zu erwischen. 

Zum gleichmäßigen verstreichen bin ich immer zu faul. Bzw. endet das meist in einer Sauerei bei mir. :D

Another important piece of information with thermal pastes is that they dry and get less efficient with time. 

Of course you can have your computer work for 10+ years with the factory thermal paste, but if you are looking for perf optimization, you need to replace the thermal paste every 2-3 years.

Also liquid metal and graphene based pastes are more difficult/dangerous to handle since they are conducting current. If these pastes ooze out of the cooler area you can fry your motherboard.

My pc runs on factory thermal paste for almost 10 years lol

I have never actually built a PC but the videos I see usually apply thermal paste using a dot. 

i didnt know that there is a difference in applying thermal paste.

i havent build a pc yet so i dont have any idea. but thanks for explaining the video. 

Habe zwar schon Componenten getauscht, aber bisher keine CPU. Und eher nur alle PCs auseinander genommen, aber nicht neu zusammengesetzt.

Hmm bräuchte aber echt mal einen neuen.

This is actually the first time I am hearing about termal paste

It's been a few years, but have considered building a newer one rather than swapping out components like I've been doing. Thanks for the info, I'll have to check if my new CPU comes with it if not I'll be trying out your X method!

The last time I assembled a computer was in 1998. 25 years ago. I installed a fan on the Pentium 90 MHz processor and did not use thermal paste. And now I’ve been using laptops for 2 centuries.

Früher habe ich sehr oft PC‘s zusammengebaut und immer Keramikpaste verwendet. Die Liquit Metal gab es damals auch schon, auf Grund der Leitfähigkeit habe ich die aber nie verwendet.
