My first coloscopy. This is how it went.
Koloskopie überlebt :) war nicht so schlimm, wie befürchtet.

Bei der Darmspiegelung (Koloskopie) wird eine Sonde (Endoskop) in den Darm eingeführt und dann der gesamte Dickdarm, wenn es geht bis zum Dünndarm, gescreent und unter Umständen Gewebe entnommen und es können sogar kleinere Polypen entfernt werden, was Darmkrebs vorbeugen kann.

Wollte meinen Darm checken lassen, da ich immer wieder Reizdarm-Beschwerden habe.

Habe ein bisschen Angst vor der Untersuchung gehabt, erstens vom Abführmittel, nichts essen und dann ist die Vorstellung so ein Gerät im Darm zu haben auch nicht so angenehm.

Aber es war nicht so schlimm wie befürchtet.

Das Mühsamste ist eigentlich die Vorbereitung für die Untersuchung. Musste bereits 4 Tage vor der Behandlung eine Diät einhalten, leichte Kost, keine Ballaststoffe, keine Kerne (kein Obst & Gemüse mit Kernen), keine Nüsse, keine Milchprodukte, keine Vollkornprodukte etc.

Dann einen Tag vor der Untersuchung darf man praktisch nichts mehr essen. Nur noch 2 Scheiben Weißbrot mit Honig zu Mittag und das war's dann.

Im Prinzip ist so eine Koloskopie wie ein Reset des Verdauungssystems. Die Vorbereitung ist Teil der Behandlung.

Habe dann am Abend mit dem Abführmittel begonnen. Man muss 1L Abführmittel trinken und dann noch mindestens 1L Wasser od Tee nachtrinken. Interessanterweise hat die Wirkung erst nach 2 Stunden nach dem Mittel engesetzt. Dachte schon es wirkt nicht.

Man sollte sich also mit dem Mittel Zeit nehmen. Das Mittel selber (Moviprep) ist nicht so schlimm wie befürchtet. Habe aber ein bisschen Bauchschmerzen bekommen, aber ansonsten war es ok. Mann muss sich aber Zeit nehmen und am besten so früh wie möglich damit beginnen. Das Mittel selber kann man relativ zügig trinken. Immer in 10 Minuten Abständen. Habe es in circa einer halben Stunde geschafft.

Mit der zweiten Dosis habe ich am nächsten Tag schon um 06:30 angefangen. Die Untersuchung war dann am frühen Nachmittag.

Untersuchung selber war eigentlich das Angenehmste. Man wird vorher sediert, bin eingeschlafen und habe nichts von der Behandlung mitbekommen und gespürt. Das war wirklich cool.

Hungergefühl war auch nicht so schlimm.

Ist gut verlaufen. Darm ist in Ordnung und habe auch keine Polypen oder Geschwüre :)

Nächste Schritte sind vielleicht einen Unverträglichkeitstest und Stuhltest zu machen, auch Probiotika werden empfohlen und das Wichtigste, so wie manche bereits angemerkt haben, ist natürlich die gesunde Ernährung und Bewegung. Das kann einem keine Behandlung abnehmen.

I survived the coloscopy :) and it wasn't as bad as I had feared.

During a coloscopy, a probe (endoscope) is inserted into the bowel and then the entire large intestine is screened, if possible down to the small intestine, and tissue can be sampled and even small polyps can be removed, which can prevent bowel cancer.

I wanted to have my bowel checked because I keep having irritable bowel symptoms.

I was a bit scared of the examination, firstly from the laxative, not eating anything and then the idea of having such a device in my bowel is not so pleasant either.

But it wasn't as bad as I feared.

The hardest part was actually the preparation for the examination. I had to stick to a diet 4 days before the treatment, light food, no fiber, no seeds (no fruit and vegetables with seeds), no nuts, no dairy products, no whole grain products, etc.

Then one day before the examination you are allowed to eat practically nothing. Just 2 slices of white bread with honey for lunch and that's it.

In principle, a colonoscopy is like a reset of the digestive system. The preparation is part of the treatment.

I started the laxative in the evening. You have to drink 1 liter of laxative and then drink at least 1 liter of water or tea afterwards. Interestingly, the effect only started 2 hours after taking the laxative. I even thought it wasn't working.

So you should take your time with the laxative. The drug itself (Moviprep) is not as bad as I feared. I did get a little stomach ache, but otherwise it was ok. But you have to take your time and it's best to start as early as possible. The laxative itself can be drunk relatively quickly. Always in 10 minute intervals. I managed it in about half an hour.

I started the second dose the next day at 06:30. The examination was then in the early afternoon.

The examination itself was actually the most pleasant thing. You are sedated beforehand, I fell asleep and didn't notice or feel anything about the treatment. That was really cool.

Feeling hungry wasn't too bad either.

Everything went well. Bowel is fine and I don't have any polyps or ulcers :)

Next steps are perhaps to do an intolerance test and stool test, probiotics are also recommended and the most important thing, as some have already mentioned, is of course a healthy diet and lifestyle. No treatment can replace that.

Tolle Beschreibung, aber ich finde die Koloskopie immer noch besser als eine Gastroskopie. Das Gefühl mit dem Schlauch im Hals ständig erbrechen zu müssen ist nicht angenehm.

Ich finds merkwürdig, dass die in der Klinik die gleiche Prozedur wie schon vor 20 Jahren beibehalten haben. Einige Kliniken in D verabreichen nur ein Abführmittel und am nächsten Tag darf man schon in die Untersuchung. Man 'quält' quasi den Patienten nicht eine Woche. 
Hauptsache alles gut verlaufen. Es gibt eine Weisheit die ich sehr zu schätzen gelernt habe: man ist sein eigener bester Arzt, denn niemand kennt den Körper besser als einer selbst.

Ich würde empfehlen, komplett auf Junkfood (auch bei Getränken (Cola, etc.) zu verzichten und auch auf prozessiertes Essen (Wurst, Tiefgekühltes, Fertiggerichte). Auch zuviel Obst und Ballaststoffe würde ich vermeiden. Es ist ein sich schon lange haltendes Gerücht, dass man 5x am Tag Obst oder Gemüse essen soll. Es gibt keine Studien dazu, dass das was bringt.
