Zwei Tage nach dem tragischen School-Shooting in Graz wissen wir immer noch nicht sehr viel über den Täter, was teilweise zu wilden Spekulationen und Verschwörungstheorien auf Social Media geführt hat.

Angeblich hatte der 21-jährige Attentäter keine Social Media-Profile (konnten nicht gefunden, zugeordnet werden), was in der heutigen Zeit schwer zu glauben ist, eine alleinerziehende Mutter, aber keine Informationen zum Vater, was zu wilden Spekulationen geführt hat.

Medien üben sich darin zu moralisieren, dass man möglichst wenig über den Täter berichten und Waffen am besten verbieten soll, die Polizei bittet darum keine Fotos und Videos zu posten, Psychologen erklären, dass man damit den Täter nicht heroisieren sollte, um Nachahmungstaten zu vermeiden. Das ist sicher auch nicht ganz unrichtig.

Auf der anderen Seite besteht nach so einer schrecklichen Tat, aber auch ein Aufklärungs- und Informationsbedürfnis, um das Geschehene auch irgendwie einordnen und verarbeiten zu können.

Letztendlich geht es auch darum, solche Anschläge in Zukunft verhindern zu können, und Fakten würden auch dabei helfen, Spekulationen und Verschwörungstheorien zum Beispiel über die Herkunft des Attentäters einzudämmen.

Was sagt ihr dazu? Ist ein Dilemma, wie viel man über den Täter berichten sollte. Denke, dass die Informationen in den nächsten Tagen und Wochen wahrscheinlich ohnehin veröffentlicht oder geleaked werden. Und auch die Einvernahmen etc. dauern eine Zeit.

**Update**: Mittlerweile haben alternative Medien mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit zahlreiche Social-Media-Profile des Attentäters identifizieren können. Sein Vater stammte ursprünglich aus Armenien, Arthur A. lebte aber seit Jahren bei seiner alleinerziehenden, österreichischen Mutter.

Two days after the tragic school shooting in Austria, we still don't know much about the shooter, which has led to wild speculation and conspiracy theories on social media.

Allegedly, the 21-year-old attacker had no social media profiles (could not be found or attributed to the shooter), which is hard to believe in this day and age, a single mother, but no information about the father, which has led to wild speculation.

The media is moralizing that as little as possible should be reported about the perpetrator and that weapons should be banned, the police are asking people not to post photos and videos, and psychologists are explaining that the perpetrator should not be glorified in order to prevent copycat crimes. This is certainly also true.
