Was ist AGI?

AGI ist eine Abkürzung für Artificial General Intelligence (Allgemeine Künstliche Intelligenz) und stellt einen wichtigen, evolutionären Entwicklungsschritt Richtung starker KI dar.

Starke KI und AGI werden oft synonym verwendet.

Eine AGI kann alle intellektuellen Aufgaben verstehen, lernen und bewältigen, die auch ein Mensch mit dem notwendigen Know-How und der notwendigen Erfahrung lösen kann.

Vermutlich ist dafür irgendeine Form von agentenbasierten Bewusstsein, ein Gedächtnis (Speicher) und ein reflexionsbasierter Lernmechanismus notwendig, um zum Beispiel komplexe Aufgaben in Unteraufgaben zu unterteilen und diese dann abzuarbeiten.

Unter starker KI versteht man eine KI, die ein Bewusstsein, Selbstbewusstsein und ein Empfindungsvermögen ähnlich wie ein Mensch besitzt.

Die Grenzen zwischen AGI und starker KI verschwimmen und sind auch nicht 100% exakt definiert, da wir bis jetzt noch nicht genau wissen, was ein Bewusstsein überhaupt ist und wie dieses technisch funktioniert.

Auch wenn Modelle wie GPT-4 bereits "Funken von AGI" aufweisen, sind wir von AGI noch relativ weit entfernt. Andererseits ist es meiner Meinung nach nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis wir AGI erreichen und das wird dann tatsächlich dramatische Auswirkungen auf die Gesellschaft haben.

AGI ist nicht das Ende der Entwicklung, sondern eine Vorstufe zu ASI (Artificial Super Intelligence), eine künstliche Intelligenz, die intelligenter wird als die gesamte Menschheit zusammen.

Wie lange wird es eurer Meinung noch dauern, bis wir echte AGI erreichen? Monate, Jahre oder Jahrzehnte? Was denkt ihr? Denke mittlerweile, es könnte schneller gehen als die meisten denken.

What is AGI?

AGI is an acronym for Artificial General Intelligence and represents an important evolutionary step towards strong AI.

Strong AI and AGI are often used synonymously.

An AGI can understand, learn and master all intellectual tasks that a human with the necessary know-how and experience can also solve.

Presumably, this requires some form of agent-based consciousness, memory (storage), and a reflection-based learning mechanism, for example, to divide complex tasks into subtasks and then work through them.

Strong AI refers to AI that has consciousness, self-awareness, and sentience similar to a human.

The boundaries between AGI and strong AI are blurred and are also not 100% precisely defined, as we do not yet know exactly what a consciousness even is and how it technically works.

Even if models like GPT-4 already show "sparks of AGI", we are still relatively far away from AGI. On the other hand, I think it is only a matter of time before we reach AGI and that will indeed have a dramatic impact on society.

AGI is not the end of development though, but a precursor to ASI (Artificial Super Intelligence), an artificial intelligence that will become even more intelligent than all of humanity combined.
