Was ist der Unterschied zwischen Produktivität, Effizienz und Effektivität? Das sind drei Eigenschaften und Maße, die als Gemeinsamkeit haben, dass man alle drei gerne erreichen möchte. Im Idealfall möchte man sowohl produktiv als auch effizient und vor allem effektiv sein, aber was bedeutet das genau?

Produktivität ist die Schaffenskraft, das Hervorbringen von Produkten, wobei Produktivität nichts über die Qualität oder Effizienz dieses Prozesses aussagt.

Effizienz ist die Wirtschaftlichkeit oder auch wie schnell und unter welchem Ressourcenaufwand ich diese Produkte und Dienstleistungen erschaffen kann. Je effizienter, desto weniger Ressourcen (auch Zeit) brauche ich für die gleiche Leistung.

Effektivität ist die Wirksamkeit und das ultimative Ziel der Schaffenskraft. Es ist ein Maß dafür, wie geeignet und erfolgreich die Produkte überhaupt für das Erreichen eines vorgegebenen Ziels sind.

Wenn man zum Beispiel Autoverkäufer ist und das Ziel ist, möglichst viele Autos zu verkaufen, dann kann man produktiv sein (Beratungsgespräche führen und Autos verkaufen), effizient (wenn das ohne große Anstrengung und Aufwand gelingt) und effektiv (wenn Beratungsgespräche in den meisten Fällen zu einem Kauf führen).

Noch ein Beispiel: Künstler haben oft das Problem, zwar produktiv aber wenig effizient oder effektiv zu sein. Niemand kauft deren Kunstwerke (wenn davon leben das Ziel ist).

Sich diesen feinen Unterschied zwischen diesen drei Konzepten bewusst zu machen, kann manchmal sehr hilfreich sein. In welchen Dingen seid ihr noch nicht so produktiv, effizient oder effektiv?

*What is the difference between productivity, efficiency and effectiveness? These are three characteristics and dimensions that have in common that one would like to reach all three of them. Ideally, you want to be productive, efficient and above all effective in the things you do, but what does that mean?*

*Productivity is the power of creation, the production of products and services. However productivity says nothing about the quality or efficiency of this process.*

*Efficiency is profitability or how quickly and with what resources you can create these products and services. The more efficient, the less resources (including time) you need for the same output.*

*Effectiveness is the performance and the ultimate goal of production and creation. It is a measure of how suitable and successful the products and services you are creating are for achieving a given goal.*

*For example, if you are a car salesman and the goal is to sell as many cars as possible, then you can be productive (consulting and selling cars), efficient (if you can do that without much effort) and effective (if consulting leads to a purchase in most cases).*

*Another example: Artists often have the problem of being productive but not very efficient or effective. Nobody buys their artworks (if living on it is the goal).*

*Being aware of the subtle difference between these three concepts can sometimes be very helpful. In what things are you not yet as productive, efficient or effective as you wish?*
