The Advantage Of A Blockchain Network In A DDOS Attack
How cool is this? This last week we had a DDOS attack on steemit and the site was unavailable for a day. There was also attacks on Facebook and Instagram that took them offline as well. But you know what was still functioning fine? The steem blockchain. In fact you could still play games and visit other steem interfaces like utopia, partiko and busy even.

This is a huge advantage that other sites do not have. And with anyone being able to make apps on the steem blockchain you can have thousands of working apps all using the same coin. And even if there is problems with one of them all the others will not be effected by it. 

And I also want to send my kudos to the steemit team for dealing with the attack swiftly. The site is running well :)

Bitcoin the original blockchain was designed with this very property in mind; By spreading out the attack vector so thin that there is no such thing as a "single point of failure".

We applaud Steemit.com for getting the site back up as quick as they did and hopefully they are willing to publicize a post-mortem of the whole thing. We'd love to study them.
