> Chivalry 2 is a multiplayer first person slasher inspired by epic medieval movie battles. Players are thrust into the action of every iconic moment of the era - from clashing swords, to storms of flaming arrows, to sprawling castle sieges and more.

<h3>When does the beta start?</h3>
There will be a closed beta on all platforms before the June release. The test phase will take place from April 23rd to April 26th and will also offer crossplay for the first time.

Participation is only open to players who pre-order either the digital standard version or the special edition of Chivalry 2.

<h3>What content does the beta offer?</h3>

The closed beta gives you a first look at the general gameplay of Chivalry 2. The following features are included in the beta:

*Map:* Siege of Rudhelm
*Game modes:* Team Objective, Team Deathmatch & Free for All

All four classes with their various sub-classes are ready to play

*Tutorial:* Before going into battle, you can learn the most important techniques

<h3>Which editions of Chivalry 2 are there?</h3>

Chivalry 2 comes in two different versions, both in physical retail and digital. Depending on which version you purchase, you will receive additional bonuses within the game, which are primarily optical in nature.

*Chivalry 2: Standard Edition*
What's in it? The standard edition only contains the full version of Chivalry 2 both digitally and physically. However, it is available in retail outlets with the “Day One Edition”, which contains a download code for the “Royal Zweihänder” weapon skin.

*Chivalry 2: Steelbook Edition*
What's in it? The steelbook edition contains the base game in a special steelbook case. There are also digital extras:

*Skins:* Jousting Knight Armor, Royal Broadsword, Gold Horseman's Ax, Roses Novelty Item, Royal Two-Handed Sword
5,000 gold - currency that can be earned in the game
1,000 crowns - premium currency that gives access to new skins

<h3>An army of black knights</h3>

Chivalry 2 is based on a motto devised by the developers: »Refuse to die«. 
Players should refuse to die. No matter how badly we are injured, it always goes on. Even with one arm we can still stab our counterpart. Anyone who loses their entire life is not immediately considered dead. Instead, we can crawl around on the ground for a while.

If you still manage to knock down an opponent while crawling, you can get up again and continue fighting. Or we are simply resuscitated by a teammate. Incidentally, that doesn't work if a two-handed sword separates our skull from our shoulders. Then we are really done immediately.

<h3>Why do we even fight?</h3>

You don't really need to know much about the exact background of Chivalry 2. After all, it doesn't play that big a role and there is no story campaign in the pure multiplayer battles anyway. It's about illegitimate kings and lots of claims to power. 
The brave but ruthless knights of the Mason Order (red) and the loyal and honorable Agatha knights (blue) get into each other's hair.

But who we fight for, we notice at the latest after the battle begins. Then the soldiers rush into battle with their blades raised and scream slogans like: "For the order!" Or "For the cross and the lion!".

Yes - in Chivalry 2 we have a voice command with which we can insult the mothers of our enemies. The black humor, inspired by Monthy Python, has always been part of the special chivalry charm. This is expressed not only through the numerous battle cries and orders. But also the sometimes absurd slapstick.

The first chivalry in 2012 was short-term fun for me, in which I spent a few very entertaining weeks and which I rarely touched again afterwards. That's nothing unusual for me as a player, especially when it's a pure multiplayer game. In the case of Chivalry 2, I was obviously not the only one, because the one-time hit is hardly played anymore. *Mordhau* - the big competitor at that time -  also quickly fell to an average level after its initial hype. 
So the challenge for Chivalry 2 is to keep players on the axe longer.

At the moment it is difficult to say whether he will succeed. 
Chivalry 2 seems to inherit all the strengths of its predecessor and deliberately eradicate most of its weaknesses - if not all. The result could be one of the most entertaining multiplayer games of the year. 

At least if you don't expect a deadly serious battlefield simulation.
