<h1><center>5 Things That Complete Every Animator's Desk</center></h1>

Being in the industry for over 8 years now, I've come across many work environments, from the corporate style cubicles to the more chill and relax 'freedom for artist' kind of work spaces that you usually see in google headquarters. What i'm about to share with you guys are not only the things you'll find on the desk but most of them are essentials which plays a important role in our work tasks daily. So these objects actually have uses for them besides being aesthetically looking on the desk.

<h1><center>The Mirror</center></h1>

NOPE! We are not that vain to actually have a mirror on our desk to check our new hairdo or our makeup from time to time, though that would come in handy as well. We usually use these face mirrors to grab references for lipsync and facial expression animations for our project. Most of the time, we can only imagine so much but without proper reference, our imagination would...you know... just be an imagination aka unreal/unnatural.

In my office, the company would provide for each of us a small mirror which we would place right beside our monitors so whenever we need to give that face a look, we can.

<h1><center>A Wooden Mannequin</center></h1>

Not those creepy ass mannequins in clothing stores. This artist mannequin helps corrects the poses and proportions of our characters. It is pretty useful if you think about it. You can basically adjust the most basic anatomy limbs that humans have to see if that pose looks nice because when I get into performance acting, the silhouette and the poses are really important to deliver a strong message across

<h1><center>Headphones</center></h1>

A decent pair of headphones is needed if you'll be attending team meetings through online video calls. No webcam is needed of course, but a headset with microphone would suffice. When we are not using these headphones for meeting calls, this two earpads would help drown out the sound of your animation audio. Imagine the whole department blasting their lipsync on stereo speakers. I'm pretty sure it'll be havoc.

On a more relaxing occasion, we can listen to our favourite tunes on spotify.

<h1><center>A Drawing Tablet</center></h1>

I wouldn't say this would be recommended for all artist in this industry but only for those who have preference in using this tool. Animators do use this not only to draw but to replace the common mouse mechanics normal pc users have. It also allows them to draw on sketches immediately rather than using the mouse.

<h1><center>A Figurine</center></h1>

One of the things that keeps us sane during high pressure work hours. You'll be able to see figurines on many animator's desk even if they're not a hardcore fan collecting them. Even if its just the basic lego to the 3D printed model of a project they've accomplished. I would always want to print the characters in my animation series but I haven't got to asking permission from the bosses yet.

And that's about it! There are definitely other things that are pretty essential too like having two monitor screens, a toilet roll beside you, a calender, etc but I guess that'll do for now.
