Hola, mi linda gente de Hive! En esta oportunidad les contaré un poco de mi experiencia sobre esta aventura en la que decidí embarcarme hace más de 3 años llamada Emprendimiento y quiero empezar diciéndoles que Emprender es una odisea que está llena de riesgos y grandes sacrificios, en especial cuando empiezas desde cero y sin ningún capital.
Mi esposo y yo llegamos a Chile, como muchos venezolanos, con poco dinero en el bolsillo, pero con el corazón lleno de sueños; sueños que estamos determinados a cumplir.
Nos establecimos en la ciudad de Antofagasta con mi suegra que se había venido a Chile 10 años antes.
Mi emprendimiento empezó cuando tuve que vender quesillos, un postre típico venezolano parecido al flan, para generar algo de dinero mientras mi documentación estuviera en regla y así buscar un trabajo formal como profesora en un país donde nadie me conocía. Lo que no sabía en ese momento era que estaba naciendo un proyecto de vida que ahora se llama @zu_pasteleria.
En un principio, comencé vendiendo mis quesillos en el negocio de un tío político de mi esposo, Fernando. Allí, también vendí unas pocas tortas, las cuales eran muy sencillas y debido a que no tenía ningún tipo experiencia en decoración de tortas, me quedaban realmente feas. Lo bueno, es que se vendían en raciones y no se les notaban los defectos.
Mi primer pedido de torta lo hizo justamente una de las chicas que trabajaba en el negocio del tío de Fernando. Ella probó una de mis tortas, le encantó y me pidió que le hiciera una para su cumpleaños. No pueden imaginarse lo feliz que estaba con mi primer pedido. Me sentía en la cúspide.

I want to start by telling you that Entrepreneurship is an odyssey that is full of risks and great sacrifices, especially when you start from scratch and without any capital.
>My husband and I arrived in Chile, like many Venezuelans, with little money in our pockets, but with our hearts full of dreams; dreams that we were determined to fulfill.
>We settled in the city of Antofagasta with my mother-in-law who had come to Chile 10 years earlier.
>My entrepreneurship began when I had to sell *quesillos*, which is a typical Venezuelan dessert similar to flan, to generate some money while I got my papers in order and thus look for a formal job as a teacher in a country where no one knew me. What I didn't know at that time was that a life project was being born that is now called @zu_pasteleria.
>At first, I started selling my *quesillos* in the business of my husband's uncle-in-law. There, I also sold a few cakes, which were very simple and because I had no experience in cake decorating, they were really ugly. The good thing is that they were sold in portions and you couldn't see the flaws.
>My first cake order was placed by one of the girls who worked in Fernando's uncle's business. She tried one of my cakes, loved it, and asked me to make one for her birthday. You can't imagine how happy I was with my first order. I felt on top of the world.

# De puerta en puerta, sin rendirse
Al mismo tiempo, estaba aprendiendo a hacer galletas, las que empecé a vender inundada de miedo, yendo de puerta en puerta. Fui ignorada por mucha gente y alguna que otra persona me compraba una bolsita de galletas para ayudarme, acto que hasta el día de hoy agradezco.
Por otro lado, hice algunos volantes con mi número de teléfono y mi cuenta de instagram que contaba con solo 5 seguidores y unas pocas fotos de mis primeras tortas. Ingenuamente, creí que haciendo esto me iban a llover los pedidos y que haría dinero de la noche a la mañana. No podía estar más lejos de la realidad.

>At the same time, I was learning how to make cookies, which I started fearfully selling door to door. I was ignored by many people, but some people would buy me a bag of cookies, probably as an act of charity, which I am grateful for up to this day.
>On the other hand, I made some flyers with my phone number, my Instagram account which had only 5 followers, and a few pictures of my first cakes. Naively, I thought that by doing this I was going to get orders pouring in and that I would make money overnight. I couldn't have been further from the truth.

# Todo en exceso es malo
Poco tiempo después, empecé a trabajar como profesora de inglés en dos institutos, pero sin dejar de lado mi emprendimiento. Tenía tres trabajos y evidentemente, esto me generó un tremendo estrés e hizo que mi cuerpo colapsara. Estaba tan exhausta con las clases, las cuales eran hasta las 12 de la noche, que una mañana de invierno me desperté y no podía moverme del dolor tan horrible que sentía. Fue ahí  cuando decidí dejar de trabajar en uno de los institutos para poder recuperarme lo más pronto posible y seguir adelante con mis planes.

# Everything in Excess Is Bad
>Soon after, I started working as an English teacher in two high schools, but without leaving my business. I had three jobs and obviously, this generated tremendous stress and made my body collapse. I was so exhausted with the classes, which, by the way, were until 12 o'clock at night, that one winter morning I woke up and could not move because of the horrible pain I felt. That's when I decided to stop working at one of the institutes in order to recover as soon as possible and move forward with my plans.

# Persevera y los cambios vendrán
Mi esposo y yo, apenas pudimos, alquilamos un pequeño apartamento donde me sentía feliz y libre de usar la cocina a mis anchas para elaborar mis tortas y postres sin molestar a nadie.
Como vivíamos en el centro de la ciudad, pensamos que era buena idea vender nuestros postres a los diferentes locales del lugar. Así que sin pensarlo mucho, metimos 20 vasitos de postres en un bolso térmico que tenía un estampado, que francamente, me parecía espantoso y fue mi esposo quien al igual que yo, salió lleno de miedos, pero con mucha actitud y no, no fue fácil, ni los primeros días ni los siguientes, sobre todo cuando la gente puede oler tu miedo y se aprovecha de eso para reflejar sus carencias. En consecuencia, muchas personas lo rechazaron e incluso lo trataron  mal. ¿Pero saben qué?, Fernando nunca se dio por vencido y así fue como nos dimos a conocer, poco a poco y sin rendirnos. En ese proceso, aplicamos algunas estrategias como concursos y rifas para hacer crecer nuestra clientela y la cuenta de instagram @zu_pasteleria que para ese momento se llamaba Zuquesillo. A la fecha tenemos más de 2500 #zulovers que nos ganamos con esfuerzo, trabajo y mucho cariño.

# Persevere and Changes will Come
>My husband and I, as soon as we could, rented a small apartment where I felt happy and free to use the kitchen at my leisure to make my cakes and desserts without disturbing anyone.
>Since we lived in the center of the city, we thought it was a good idea to sell our desserts to the different local shops. So without thinking too much about it, we put 20 little cups of desserts in a thermal bag that had a print, which frankly, I found frightening and it was my husband who, like me, went out full of fears, but with a lot of attitude. It was not easy, neither the first days nor the following ones, especially when people can smell your fear and take advantage of that to project their shortcomings. Consequently, many people rejected him and even treated him badly, but you know what, Fernando never gave up and that's how we made ourselves known. Little by little and without giving up. In that process, we applied some strategies such as contests and raffles to grow our clientele and the Instagram account @zu_pasteleria which by that time was called Zuquesillo. To date we have more than 2500 #zulovers that we earned with effort, work and lots of love.

# Siempre escucha a tus clientes. Innova!
Debo decir que gracias a las sugerencias y recomendaciones de algunos clientes, a quienes siempre estuvimos abiertos a tomar en cuenta, mejoramos muchos aspectos de nuestros productos y como resultado, empezamos a ofrecer tortas y postres saludables sin gluten, sin lactosa y sin azúcar. Este hecho, nos permitió ampliar la gama de opciones en nuestro menú sin descuidar la calidad.
Sin duda, la clave para que tu negocio crezca es conocer a tu cliente y escucharlo; capacitándote cada vez que puedas, aprendiendo cosas nuevas, especialmente en educación financiera.

# Always Listen to your Customers: Innovate
>I must say that thanks to the suggestions and recommendations of some customers, which we were always open to take into account, we improved many aspects of our products. As a result, we began to offer healthy cakes and desserts without gluten, lactose, and sugar. This allowed us to expand the range of options in our menu without neglecting quality.
>Without a doubt, the key for your business to grow is to know your customer and listen to them; training yourself every time you can, learning new things, especially in financial education.

# Nuestro gran pequeño equipo
Mi equipo de trabajo está conformado por mi esposo y por mí. Él se encarga de las finanzas y las compras; me ayuda a atender a los clientes y a hacer cotizaciones. Yo me encargo de todo lo que implica la elaboración de las tortas, lavar los utensilios y de la limpieza en general. Además, soy la fotógrafa, la que maneja las Redes Sociales y se encarga del  Marketing; soy la chef y la que atiende el hogar.  Ah, también soy la CEO y la supervisora del negocio.
Actualmente, contamos con un espacio un poco más grande pero, como hemos invertido en equipos como mesas, neveras, estantes y un par de bolsos térmicos para delivery, entre otras cosas, el lugar se nos está quedando pequeño.

# Our Great Small Team
>My work team is made up of my husband and I. He is in charge of finances and purchasing; he helps me with customer service and estimates. I take care of everything involved in making the cakes, washing utensils, and general cleaning. In addition, I am the photographer, the one who manages the Social Networks, and is in charge of Marketing; I am the chef and the one who takes care of the home.  Oh, I am also the CEO and the supervisor of the business.
>Currently, we have a slightly larger space but, as we have invested in equipment such as tables, refrigerators, shelves and a couple of thermal bags for delivery, among other things, the place is getting too small.

# Cada negocio crece a su ritmo
Por otro lado, uno de los grandes obstáculos que hemos presentado ha sido mudarnos a un lugar más grande, pero debido a la inflación, los alquileres están sumamente costosos y nuestro emprendimiento aun no da como para cubrir tal inversión. 
A veces me siento frustrada, porque las cosas no se dan rápido o porque veo como otros emprendimientos han logrado en poco tiempo lo que yo todavía no he podido, pero últimamente he estado tratando de disfrutar el proceso. También, he entendido que la situación de cada persona es completamente distinta y no debemos compararnos. Cada quién va a su ritmo.
Muchas personas optan por emprender porque piensan que trabajarán menos o tendrán más tiempo libre. Pero, no tienen idea lo equivocados que están, porque si bien es cierto que estableces tu propio horario y en muchos casos te permite trabajar desde casa, hay momentos en los que tendrás que trabajar hasta de madrugada, si realmente estás comprometido con tu proyecto de vida y contigo mismo.

# Every Business Grows at its own Pace
>On the other hand, one of the big obstacles we have faced has been to move to a bigger place, but due to inflation, rents are extremely expensive and our business is still not enough to cover such an investment. 
>Sometimes I feel frustrated, because things don't happen fast or because I see how other ventures have achieved in a short time what I haven't been able to do yet. However, lately I have been trying to enjoy the process. Also, I have understood that each person's situation is completely different and we should not compare ourselves. Everyone goes at their own pace.
>Many people choose entrepreneurship because they think they will work less or have more free time. But, they have no idea how wrong they are, because although it is true that you set your own schedule and in many cases it allows you to work from home, there are times when you will have to work until the wee hours of the morning, if you are really committed to your life project and to yourself.

# Un toque de locura
Evidentemente, no es mi intención desanimarlos, solo quiero mostrarles desde mi experiencia que nada es imposible, tal vez difícil, pero no imposible. Entonces, si queremos iniciar nuestro propio negocio, es importante que entendamos que cuando decidimos ser emprendedores debemos estar conscientes de cuál es nuestro talento y cómo podemos ayudar a otras personas con nuestro arte, lo que considero es lo más valioso que tenemos. Adicionalmente, este es un camino donde debemos reinventarnos todos los días, que requiere de esfuerzo, disciplina, formación y amor por lo que hacemos además, yo le agregaría, ESTAR UN POCO LOCOS.

# A Touch of Craziness
>Obviously, it is not my intention to discourage you, I just want to show you from my experience that nothing is impossible, maybe difficult, but not impossible. So, if we want to start our own business, it is important that we understand that when we decide to be entrepreneurs we must be aware of what our talent is and how we can help other people with our art, which I consider is the most valuable thing we have. Additionally, this is a path where we must reinvent ourselves every day, which requires effort, discipline, training and love for what we do and also, I would add, BE A LITTLE CRAZY.
# Vision
Si eres una persona que sabes y estas convencido a dónde quieres llegar con tu emprendimiento, entonces tienes el éxito garantizado y podrás ver materializado tus sueños.
En mi opinión, un emprendimiento es como ese hijo con el que no quieres rendirte nunca hasta verlo sostenerse por sí solo.
Aun no estamos donde queremos, pero hemos ido logrando pequeñas metas a pesar que iniciamos sin ningún capital. Sé que nos llevará tiempo, pero lo importante es seguir avanzando sin detenernos y sin perder de vista nuestro objetivo.

# Have a Vision
>If you are a person who knows and is convinced of where you want to go with your venture, then you are guaranteed success and you will be able to see your dreams come true.
>In my opinion, a venture is like that child that you never want to give up on until you see it stand on its own.
>We are still not where we want to be, but we have been achieving small goals even though we started with no capital. I know it will take time, but the important thing is to keep moving forward without stopping and without losing sight of our goal.
