Situation vacant: The LSE is already interviewing candidates for chief executive
The embattled London Stock Exchange is already interviewing candidates for chief executive as it scrambles to head off a campaign by billionaire investor Sir Chris Hohn.
Hohn, 51, is seeking to oust chairman Donald Brydon, who he blames for forcing former chief executive Xavier Rolet to quit.
Shareholders will vote on whether 72-year-old Brydon should go at a crunch meeting later this month.
Rolet only left two weeks ago but the exchange is already lining up a replacement.
Sources said it has appointed headhunter Egon Zehnder to find a boss, with candidates being considered from across the globe.
Finance chief David Warren has stepped in to run the business on a temporary basis but is not thought to want to do it permanently.
Internal names mentioned in connection with the role include Mark Makepeace, head of the company’s data business.
Shares in LSE rose 1.1 per cent, or 43p, to 3833p." |
