**ACLARATORIA:** Los productos y mezcla de estos, procedimientos y pasos que orientan cada una de las fases empleadas en el tratamiento de la ***quemadura de segundo grado*** en referencia, son producto de la combinación de conocimientos adquiridos en talleres sobre medicina verde, testimonios orales fiables de practicantes botánicos y de curanderos de la etnia Wayú con quienes he compartido experiencias durante la formación y ejercicio de mi profesión. Siendo importante declarar que, la decisión de iniciar y desarrollar el tratamiento con productos no convencionales fue propia, en contra de la opinión y voluntad de mis acompañantes.
Por tanto, este artículo *no constituye una guía, recetario procedimental o recomendación terapéutica que pretenda sustituir o reemplazar* las buenas prácticas de la medicina convencional.
# <div class="phishy">A modo de introducción</div>
Como describo en el primer párrafo, hay diversas causas o medios por las cuales puede ocurrir leve o severas lesiones cutáneas y del tejido corporal por quemaduras. De allí que exista una clasificación gradual de la herida y tratamiento a seguir de acuerdo a evaluación médica. En grosso modo hay tres niveles de quemaduras:
> Las quemaduras de primer grado afectan solo la capa externa de la piel. Causan dolor, enrojecimiento e hinchazón.
>> Las quemaduras de segundo grado afectan ambas, la capa externa y la capa subyacente de la piel. Causan dolor, enrojecimiento, hinchazón y ampollas. También se llaman quemaduras de espesor parcial.
>>> Las quemaduras de tercer grado afectan las capas profundas de la piel. También se llaman quemaduras de espesor total. Causan piel blanquecina, oscura o quemada. La piel puede estar adormecida. [Medlineplus, 2018, párr. 2](https://medlineplus.gov/spanish/ency/article/000030.htm)
Ahora bien, en mi caso sufrí parcialmente quemaduras de segundo grado en los miembros inferiores. Se trató de mi segunda desagradable experiencia; en este sentido, ya conocía el procedimiento de primeros auxilios y tratamiento que se recibe en la sala de emergencias de un centro de salud cuando se ingresa con quemaduras de este tipo. En verdad fue mi primera experiencia la que marcó un antes y un después sobre qué hacer en casos como este; sobre todo lo relacionado con el método para realizar la profilaxis cutánea, en mi opinión muy doloroso.
Desde entonces despertó mi interés por conocer productos a base de minerales y especies que pudieran emplearse eficazmente en el tratamiento de quemaduras leves a moderadas, siempre y cuando no requirieran estrictamente atención médica. Sobre la base de estos conocimientos actuúo con conocimiento de causa y asumo la responsabilidad de auto tratar la herida con la asistencia y colaboración de valiosos seres queridos.
# <div class="phishy">*Aloe vera* - La planta milagrosa</div>

<img src="https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmf3i7eynH7Vf9XithdA4BtkZ2dDTVPfbpW3LiL4n68knA/S%C3%A1bila.jpg"><center><sub>Atribución y cortesia: @emiliocabrera</sub></center> </div> Cuando se hace una revisión de experiencias relacionadas con esta especie, uno se encuentra con cualquier cantidad de relatos mitológicos, legendarios, recetas e indicaciones curativas, decretos de protección imperial, entre otros aspectos dignos de estudio. Sin embargo, este post se circunscribe al empleo de este producto natural en el tratamiento de las <strong><em>quemaduras de segundo grado</em></strong>.

Las principales características de esta planta destacan por su color verde y grisáceo en todo el arbusto, con imponente follaje espinoso y triangular que se va deformando hacia las puntas, agrupado en forma de racimo con un tallo muy corto que muchas veces no se aprecia por la roseta basal que conforman sus hojas. Se dice que es originaria de la India y Sur de África; sin embargo, su valor farmacológico, terapéutico y comercial la introdujeron en regiones tropicales y subtropicales hasta naturalizarla. Por estas razones se han adaptado a distintos sustratos, desde áridos a moderadamente nitrificados. En Venezuela abunda en muchos estados.
## <div class="phishy">Composición química</div>
Aunque en las últimas cinco décadas esta especie sido objeto de interés científico, sus principales productos con valor farmacológico y terapéutico se tiene sus hojas; cabe destacar que aunque derivan del follaje desde la perspectiva química son diferentes, se trata del acíbar (o Aloe) y el gel (compuesto gelatinoso)
> [Acíbar] Se utiliza principalmente como laxante, acción que le confieren los derivados hidroxiantraquinónicos que contiene, principalmente las aloínas A y B (aloína, barbaloína) y aloerresinas A, B y C (glucosilcromonas).
> [Gel <em>Aloe vera</em>] ...contiene mayoritariamente agua y abundantes polisacáridos, como: glucomananos, glucogalactomananos, galactoglucoarabinomananos y mananos acetilados. Entre ellos, sobresalen como componentes activos importantes el acemanano, mezcla de polisacáridos complejos de tipo beta-(1-4)-manano O-acetilados, y el aloérido, polisacárido de elevado peso molecular constituido por glucosa, galactosa, manosa y arabinosa.
>> Además, el gel de áloe contiene aminoácidos, glucoproteínas, enzimas, heterósidos hidroxiantracénicos, derivados de cromonas y pironas, saponinas, esteroles, ácidos y sales orgánicas, sales inorgánicas y vitaminas. Son muchas las propiedades y actividad farmacológica propias del acíbar, entre las que destaca sus indicaciones para el tratamiento de problemas intestinales, como laxante, hemorroides, etc. Otro valioso componente está en el Gel <em>Aloe vera</em> muy empleado en la aplicación tópica; en la combinación de estos productos naturales es que se basó ampliamente el tratamiento.
## <div class="phishy">Propiedades</div>
Son múltiples propiedades las que posee y sobre todo la acción directa e inmediata que ejercen sus componentes químicos al hacerse un adecuado uso de ellos. Estudios a nivel mundial y particularmente en Venezuela, realizados para obtener *antraquinonas* del exudado o zumo del ***Aloe vera*** (acíbar), por referir uno de estos, en 2012 se llevó a cabo en el Departamento de Química. Facultad de Ciencias. Universidad de Los Andes un estudio bajo esta línea de investigación, donde se obtuvo *antraquinonas* mediante el método de cristalización, las cuales son ricas en aloína, que es un catártico caracterizado por su utilización farmacológica en la elaboración de medicamentos para tratar enfermedades del aparato digestivo y respiratorio; además, las notables cualidades bactericidas y antivirídicas le han proporcionado un decente lugar como potente antibiótico con atributos analgésicos impresionantes.
Por otra parte, *las glucoproteínas, la alantoína y otros compuestos de ligero peso molecular, y los azúcares, polisacáridos y compuestos fenólicos* si sinérgicamente se combinan para inhibir las toxinas que atacan células cutáneas y tejidos que ocasionan dolor.

El amplio abanico de propiedades curativas de acuerdo su composición química y biológica, hacen que esta substancia penetre las capas cutáneas y tejido para contribuir con el tratamiento y regeneración de la zona afectada.
## <div class="phishy">Origen y causa de las lesiones sufridas</div>
En fecha 12 febrero 2018, en horas de la tarde me encontraba en compañía de amigos y seres queridos disfrutando de las bondades del majestuoso cuerpo hidrobiológico denominado *Las Aguas Calientes*, ecosistema que bordea la populosa población El Pilar, capital del municipio Benítez, estado Sucre (Venezuela); cumpliendo con el propósito de la visita: Recreación e investigación, habiendo recolectado interesantes datos sobre la flora, fauna y algunas condiciones propias del biotopo premontano de la zona; nos disponíamos a retirarnos de las fumarolas donde emergía desde las profundidades de la roca, el vapor de agua con mezcla de gas y azufre.

Se trata de fisuras localizadas que vienen desde el subsuelo hasta la superficie, expulsando agua desde los acuíferos a través de un proceso geotérmico en el que intervienen factores como temperatura, presión, gases, arrastre de minerales, fricción y otros, para conducir fluidos hirvientes capaces de suspenderse de la corteza terrestre y formar corrientes de agua que van descendiendo su temperatura aguas abajo.

Descrita las condiciones ambientales de este lugar, se puede tener una idea de las altas temperaturas; pues, objeto de un acto inseguro resbalo al saltar una roca y caigo al agua. Mi rápida reacción y ayuda de @emiliocabrera, hicieron posible que tardará entre 2 y 3 segundos en sacar los miembros inferiores de las aguas calientes. Ese tiempo bastó para ocasionarme ***quemadura de segundo grado***.
### <div class="phishy">Síntomas</div>
En general, la sintomatología inmediata fue:
* Dolor intenso
* Mareos
* Sudoración
* Palidez
* Apariencia de humedad en las lesiones
Después de aplicarme primeros auxilios que consistió en lavarme las partes afectadas con abundante agua fría y jabón azul (común) para luego aplicarme suficiente jugo de sábila (<em>Aloe vera</em>), presenté:
* Disminución inmediata del dolor en un 75% (al aplicarme el fluido natural <em>Aloe vera</em>),
* Ligero ardor
* Ausencia de sudoración y mareos, enrojecimiento de la piel,
* Ampollas pequeñas y grandes,
* Fiebre (pasadas tres horas de ocurrido el accidente).
### <div class="phishy">Asistencia oportuna de especialista en quemaduras</div>
Motivado los últimos síntomas presentados, se apersonó en la residencia y me asiste una enfermera con amplia experiencia y especialista en quemaduras (pariente de la familia donde me encontraba de visita), a decir verdad no sé su nombre, todos le llaman cariñosamente *Panchi*. Revisó cuidadosamente las heridas que se encontraban en la rodilla izquierda y pie derecho; me dice claramente que amerito asistencia médica y por consiguiente hospitalización. Mucho más estable, le digo que estoy consciente de la gravedad de las lesiones porque anteriormente experimenté ***quemaduras de segundo grado*** y el traumático tratamiento convencional me hizo investigar sobre métodos alternativos a base de productos naturales y minerales que fueran efectivos y a la vez menos dolorosos.
Me dice que conoce las propiedades curativas de la *Aloe vera*; no obstante, me alerta sobre lo perjudicial que es por su alto contenido de yodo (I<sub>53</sub>). Le explico sobre el proceso de destilación de este elemento para obtener un cristal completamente inocuo y listo para emplear como compuesto principal en el tratamiento de quemaduras este tipo. Conforme a las circunstancias me realizan una cura más profunda, retirando residuos, impurezas y tejido muerto. Procedimiento que repetiría los siguientes tres días, ya que posteriormente regreso a mi residencia en el estado Monagas.
## <div class="phishy">Fases de la lesión y tratamiento</div>
Para tener una clara apreciación de la afectación, se presenta evidencia documental desde la ocurrencia del accidente hasta la actualidad, esta relación temporal de las lesiones permite inferir mejor sobre la efectividad de la *Aloe vera* en el tratamiento de este tipo de quemaduras.

A simple vista apenas puede apreciarse una pequeña peladura humedecida; no obstante, el ardor y dolor eran intensos, en consecuencia experimenté debilidad general y repentinos mareos.
### Primeros auxilios y estabilización de la herida

Las zonas afectadas fueron limpiadas con abundante agua fría y base de jabón azul; simultáneamente hubo la necesidad de aplicar jugo de <strong><em>Aloe vera</em></strong> para disminuir el dolor y ardor, que efectivamente se redujo en un 75% en menos de dos minutos. Procedimiento analgésico que se repitió en diversas oportunidades para aliviar el malestar.
### Durante las primeras 72 horas

El fluido de sábila (libre de yodo) aplicado cada 3 horas sobre las zonas afectadas, humétaba y reducía en su máxima expresión el intenso dolor y ardor. El alto contenido de ácido salicílico y otros componentes analgésicos presentes en el mucílago, se manifiestan enérgicamente para aliviar las dolencias.
### Durante los primeros 15 días

La lesión presenta signos de mejoría con irritación localizada en zona donde hay daño de la dermis. Hasta el momento la limpieza se realiza con abundante agua fría (a veces se usó hielo), base de jabón azul y desinfectante de alto nivel (Gerdex), manteniendo medidas de higiene para prevenir focos de contaminación.
### A los 30 días

El compuesto a base de bicarbonato de sodio y <em>Aloe vera</em> demostró efectividad contra las toxinas y demás impurezas, al generar capas superficiales de células muertas que serían retiradas con facilidad durante las curas diarias. Por otra parte, se notó una reducción gradual del ardor y dolor que era permanente.
### A los 60 días
Durante este período se empleó gel de Aloe vera (previamente refrigerado) en el pie derecho, zona donde había mucho dolor, particularmente en horas nocturnas.

La cicatrización es evidente y empieza a regenerarse la piel. Desde este momento se empieza a aplicar fluido de Aloe vera (sin yodo) cada 6 horas y a una temperatura media de 10 ºC.
### A los 180 días (actualmente)

La lesión en la rodilla sanó 100%, mientras el pie cicatrizó en su totalidad y se encuentra rehabilitado un 98%. Aplico ligeramente gel de Aloe vera 2 veces al día. Uso calzado con normalidad y no siento molestia alguna. La pigmentación y tonalidad cutánea es significativa y paulatinamente se nota la mejoría.

A pesar de la gravedad de la quemadura, la rodilla izquierda apenas presenta <br> signos de haber sufrido lesión alguna.

Las presentes consideraciones son producto de mi experiencia como paciente con quemaduras de segundo grado, por tanto, en mi opinión y de acuerdo a las reacciones y efectos manifestados durante el tratamiento expreso:
El intenso dolor somático muscular que de manera punzante se expandía a las terminaciones nerviosas de la lesión y se manifestaba durante y después de la cura en los primeros 30 días, no llegó a disminuir al suministrarme las siguientes dosis:
2 tabletas de Motrin 800 mg
Paracetamol
3 tabletas bilingual de Notolac 30 mg
Dipirona 500 mg
Sin embargo, después de la cura el dolor cedía *casi instantáneamente* al colocarme gel de *Aloe vera* refrigerado (entre los 10 ºC y 12 ºC) donde se localizaba el dolor. De igual manera, terminada la cura sucedía lo mismo si colocaba compresas frías impregnadas con fluido de *Aloe vera*.
Por otra parte, al suministrarme oralmente dosis de 5 ml, 10 ml, 20 ml y 40 ml fluido de *Aloe vera* (previamente des-yodado) antes o después de la cura, no experimenté disminución del dolor hasta pasados 20 minutos, esto último ocurría cuando ingería las dosis de 20 ml y 40 ml. Durante los primeros 60 días mantuve estricto reposo en cama, siendo gradualmente paulatina la desinflamación de los miembros inferiores, especialmente del pie derecho.
De todas las propiedades benefactoras de la *Aloe vera* descrita y experimentadas durante esta indeseada vivencia, en orden de importancia destaca el impresionante poder analgésico de esta especie vegetal; en segundo instancia, su efectividad antiinflamatoria; posteriormente, sus cualidades bactericidas y antivirídicas. Aunque todas son relevantes, coloco el atributo analgésico del primero por la rápida acción que ejercen las diferentes capas de la piel y tejido para quitar el dolor en proporción realmente sorprendente.
Finalizo con lo dicho en el preámbulo de este post, ***este artículo *no constituye una guía, recetario procedimental o recomendación terapéutica que pretenda sustituir o reemplazar* las buenas prácticas de la medicina convencional***.
Los procedimientos y métodos empleados aquí se fundamentan en la experiencia social y familiar, talleres y una amplia revisión documental del autor, muchas de ellas con rigor científico. Pese a corroborar todos los conocimientos adquiridos, habría deseado nunca comprobarlos de esta manera.

## Project Details

## Why Did I Choose This Project?
Well, to be honest, I chose this project because all the other options were applications with boring names like Freecad and Jabref. I thought it would be fun (<strong>edit:</strong> less boring) to translate a game instead. And thank god... I was right!
I am sure my team members are very jealous that I get to translate strings like "Let's eat", "Giant tortoise", "I feel happy and sad", and "Oh my god" while they get to translate stuff like "resolving duplicate keys", "Port Design", "Constraining modifier key" and "Corrugated elements"... LOL!
Too bad for them, now they have to live with the choices they have made....MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
## Current Session
Here's a couple of strings from this session (#14) to give you an even better idea of what I am dealing with:

## Contribution Specifications
- Translation Overview: This is a really large project, approximately 80.000 words and obviously it's gonna take me a while to finish. In each part I plan to translate anywhere from 700 to 1200 words. For the most part, the translation is very easy as there are few, if any, technical terms.
- Languages: The project is being translated from English to Greek.
- Word Count: According to Crowdin, for Part 14# I translated 1.157 words, for a total of 16.145 translated words. Since most of the strings translated were part of the in-game dialogues there were only a handful (1, maybe 2%) that were left in the original language, e.g. screenshot.
