THE S&P 500 BULLS BEWARE
History shows we're overdue for a bear market correction.

History would suggest that we're probably overdue for a bear market correction. According to Yardeni Research, the S&P 500 has undergone 35 stock market corrections of at least 10%, since 1950. This works out to a 10% swoon about once every two years. However, we haven't had a bear market correction (a drop of 20% or more) since 2009, which is also when we suffered through our last economic recession. Since 1929, we've had 14 recessions of varying lengths, working out to one every six years or so. In other words, based on our historical data we're overdue for a recession and/or bear market correction.
Stock market volatility ,fear gauge for S&P 500 , the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) on Monday fell to its lowest level in two years. Monday’s level is also extremely close to the lowliest readings over the past five five years. When the VIX is low the stock market is complacent ( not afraid of falling ) But this action is not unusual right before the bull market takes a dump.
