The world of the undead, once again, is once again the focus of the work of filmmaker **Zack Snyder** and a team that takes real pleasure in creating visually exciting scenes, but always with very empty weight (with only a few exceptions) for the events that you are trying to build, along a story that does not bring depth to the project. This has happened before, and it is very clear that Snyder is a director who finds his driving force in visual aspects, and nothing, absolutely nothing else. That's not exactly a flaw, but it's a factor that's very limiting and worrisome for a director who believes he's as creative as he likes to call himself.

Using a very thin line to try to build a broader narrative, the script (which was also written with Snyder's help) works with the idea of an "alien" experience that was under the command of **Area 51**. Basically (this is a to my conclusion, because the movie doesn't make that clear), a team of scientists must have used extraterrestrial technology to modify a zombie, which in a freakish way, ended up being released in the middle of a highway, and after killing a team of soldiers, go straight to the city of Las Vegas to make more victims and create a true army that will be a resistance force against anyone who wants to enter the place (which becomes their new home)
Very briefly, the political side of the film comes into play. This happens through a talk show where there is a few seconds of an interview showing the reasons the US government has created, and maintained, a "bubble" of protection in the city of Las Vegas. This resulted in a separation between the zombie side and the human side. Within this aspect, there is an interesting flirtation that sheds light on issues involving the situation of immigrants in the country, but it is all very superficial, and there is no interest in going deeper into this throughout the projection (which is a pity, because it would be a great argument to enrich a plot that is too weak). In fact, the entire movie is completely shallow.

In the middle of some good ideas (like using zombies in a more strategic way to create the idea that they are getting smarter, to the point of organizing themselves in a "military" way, to protect themselves against enemies and thus, keep intact to its own population... rising the ideas about the "smart zombies" and who are not just hungry for flesh and thirsty for blood) the script fails in a number of very large aspects, and ones that cannot be ignored. One of the worst moments in the film is introducing excessive elements and not being able to explain anything about all the aspects that are being proposed. There is just a jumble of ideas, which gets worse and worse.
Among them: A couple of zombies that are at the top of the "food chain" of the dead (and which is even the focus of a totally nonsense subplot) at random, some "robot zombies" (yes, robots), idiotic motivations of the characters in search of easy money (although this is acceptable, because in the essence of some of them it is perfectly aligned) and the lack of information about what is at stake within this great and mysterious assault. None of this is explained, the movie just ends and no one knows the real motivation for it to have existed (because even as pure entertainment it fails), and if there is a sequel (as is being considered)... It's very likely that everything will follow this path.

Narratively, the movie is really a disaster. On screen, the cast pours out a level of acting that is something very similar to amateurism and - *ironically* - the worst of them is precisely the protagonist (who is badly played by **Dave Bautista**... an actor of limited talent and total lack of charisma). The supporting team alternates between the average and the bad, parading quality performances with highly questionable levels. The script doesn't do much for them either, because their characters are everything you can imagine about clichés that are present in movies of this genre, and there is no effort to turn them into minimally interesting or funny characters.
Proving that he is a director with a very specific niche, Snyder squanders his talents to create more and more stylish visual impact scenes and events (but which in my point of view are also quite tiresome because they are predictable and, at times, very obvious) , loud and in this movie, in particular, something more colorful and more soundly polluting (considering the fact that the soundtrack work here, it's something that's pretty ridiculous). There doesn't seem to be any control over what's being done in this movie... Just an overdose of gunfire, blood, and (lots of) lack of good narrative sense. Without a doubt, it is one of the worst works by this director (which I already consider one of the most boring).

***Army of the Dead*** is that kind of movie that you don't understand the reasons why it was made, but still manages to have some points that are briefly interesting, and provocative (up to a point). However, these lapses of creativity are swallowed up by a sequence of errors and lack of depth that makes it an inert production, without relevance and without the slightest charisma to win over viewers (and I think even those who like the work of Snyder will be very disappointed with the final result of this movie). Long, tiring and unnecessary... Three adjectives fit like a glove to describe this failed new project.

Esto sucede a través de un programa de entrevistas donde hay unos segundos de una entrevista que muestra las razones por las que el gobierno de Estados Unidos ha creado y mantenido una "burbuja" de protección en la ciudad de Las Vegas. Esto resultó en una separación entre el lado zombi y el lado humano. Dentro de este aspecto, hay un coqueteo interesante que arroja luz sobre temas que involucran la situación de los inmigrantes en el país, pero todo es muy superficial, y no hay interés en profundizar en esto a lo largo de la proyección (lo cual es una lástima, porque sería ser un gran argumento para enriquecer una trama que es demasiado débil). En medio de algunas buenas ideas (como usar zombis de forma más estratégica para crear la idea de que se están volviendo más inteligentes, hasta el punto de organizarse de forma "militar", para protegerse de los enemigos y así, mantener intactos a su propia población... elevando las ideas sobre los "zombis inteligentes" que no solo están hambrientos de carne y sedientos de sangre) el guión falla en varias formas muy importantes, y algunas que no pueden ignorarse. Uno de los peores momentos de la película es introducir elementos excesivos y no poder explicar nada sobre todos los aspectos que se proponen. Solo hay un revoltijo de ideas, que empeora cada vez más.
Entre ellos: Un par de zombis que están en lo más alto de la "cadena alimenticia" de los muertos (y que es incluso el foco de una subtrama totalmente absurda) al azar, algunos "zombis robot" (sí, robots), motivaciones idiotas de los personajes en busca de dinero fácil (aunque esto es aceptable, porque en la esencia de algunos de ellos está perfectamente alineado) y la falta de información sobre lo que está en juego dentro de este gran y misterioso asalto. Nada de esto se explica, la película simplemente termina y nadie conoce la verdadera motivación para que haya existido (porque incluso como puro entretenimiento falla), y si hay una secuela (como se está considerando)... es muy probable que todo seguirá este camino.
Narrativamente, la película es realmente un desastre. En pantalla, el elenco derrama un nivel de actuación que es algo muy parecido al amateurismo y - *irónicamente* - el peor de ellos es precisamente el protagonista (que está mal interpretado por **Dave Bautista**... un actor de limitado talento y falta total de carisma). El equipo de apoyo alterna entre lo medio y lo malo, exhibiendo actuaciones de calidad con niveles muy cuestionables. El guión tampoco hace mucho por ellos, porque sus personajes son todo lo que puedas imaginar sobre los clichés que están presentes en las películas de este género, y no hay ningún esfuerzo por convertirlos en personajes mínimamente interesantes o divertidos.
Demostrando que es un director con un nicho muy específico, Snyder derrocha su talento para crear escenas y eventos de impacto visual cada vez más estilizados (pero que desde mi punto de vista también son bastante tediosos porque son predecibles y, a veces, muy obvios), fuerte y en esta película, en particular, algo más colorido y más contaminante (considerando el hecho de que la banda sonora funciona aquí, es algo bastante ridículo). No parece haber ningún control sobre lo que se está haciendo en esta película... Solo una sobredosis de disparos, sangre y (mucha) falta de buen sentido narrativo. Sin duda, es uno de los peores trabajos de este director (que ya considero uno de los más aburridos).
***Ejército de los Muertos*** es ese tipo de película en la que no entiendes las razones por las que se hizo, pero aún así logra tener algunos puntos que son brevemente interesantes y provocativos (hasta cierto punto). Sin embargo, estos lapsus de creatividad son engullidos por una secuencia de errores y falta de profundidad que la convierte en una producción inerte, sin relevancia y sin el más mínimo carisma para conquistar a los espectadores (y creo que incluso aquellos a los que les guste la obra de Snyder serán muy decepcionado con el resultado final de esta película). Largo, agotador e innecesario... Tres adjetivos encajan como un guante para describir este nuevo proyecto fallido.

<center>**CRÍTICA DE FILME** - "Army of the Dead: Invasão em Las Vegas" (2021)</center>
**Sinopse:** *Após um estranho e inesperado surto de zumbis em Las Vegas, um grupo de mercenários une forças e talentos específicos para se aventurar em uma zona de quarentena totalmente inóspita com um objetivo audacioso: realizar o maior assalto de todos os tempos. No entanto, tudo sai do controle e há uma mudança de planos: lutar para salvar as próprias vidas enquanto eles estão sob intenso ataque.*
O mundo dos mortos-vivos, mais uma vez, volta a ser o foco dos trabalhos do cineasta **Zack Snyder** e de uma equipe que tem um verdadeiro prazer em criar cenas visualmente empolgantes, mas sempre de peso muito vazio (com apenas algumas exceções) para os acontecimentos que está tentando construir, ao longo de uma história que não traz profundidade para o projeto. Isso já aconteceu anteriormente, e fica muito claro que Snyder é um diretor que encontra à sua força motora em aspectos visuais, e nada, absolutamente nada além disso. Isso não é exatamente uma falha, mas é um fator que é muito limitante e preocupante, para um diretor que acredita ser tão criativo como ele mesmo gosta de se autointitular.
Usando uma linha muito fina para tentar construir uma narrativa mais ampla, o roteiro (que também foi escrito com a ajuda do Snyder) trabalha com a ideia de uma experiência "alienígena" que estava sob o comando da Área 51. Basicamente (isso é uma conclusão minha, porque o filme não deixa isso claro), uma equipe de cientistas devem ter usado tecnologia extraterreste para modificar um zumbi, que de um jeito esptapafúrdio, acabou sendo liberado no meio de uma auto-estrada, e após matar uma equipe de soldados, parte para a cidade de Las Vegas para fazer mais vítimas e criar um verdadeiro exército que será uma força de resistência contra todos que quiserem entrar no local (que se torna o novo lar deles)
De uma maneira muito breve, o lado político do filme entra em cena. Isso acontece através de um *talk show* onde há alguns segundos de entrevista mostrando as razões do governo americano em ter criado, e mantido, uma "bolha" de proteção na cidade de Las Vegas. Isso resultou em uma separação entre o lado dos zumbis e o lados dos humanos. Dentro desse aspecto, há um flerte interessante que traz uma luz para questões envolvendo à situação dos imigrantes no país, mas é tudo muito superficial, e não há o menor interesse em aprofundar isso ao longo da projeção (o que é uma pena, porque seria um ótimo argumento para enriquecer uma trama que é muito fraca). Aliás, o filme inteiro é completamente raso.
No meio de algumas boas ideias (como utilizar os zumbis de uma maneira mais estratégica para criar a ideia de que eles estão cada vez mais inteligentes, a ponto de se organizarem de maneira "militar", para se protegerem contra os inimigos e dessa forma, manter intacta à sua própria população... elevando as ideias sobre os "zumbis espertos" e que não estão apenas famintos por carne e sedentos por sangue) o roteiro falha em uma quantidade de aspectos muitos grandes, e que não podem ser ignorados. Um dos piores momentos do filme é introduzir elementos excessivos e não conseguir explicar nada sobre todos os aspectos que estão sendo propostos. Há apenas uma confusão de ideias, que fica cada vez pior.
Dentre elas: um casal de zumbis que estão no topo da "cadeia alimentar" dos mortos (e que inclusive é foco de uma subtrama totalmente nonsense) de maneira aleatória, alguns "zumbis robôs" (sim, robôs), motivações idiotas dos personagens em busca de dinheiro fácil (embora isso seja aceitável, porque nas essências de alguns deles isso está perfeitamente alinhado) e a falta de informações sobre o que está em jogo dentro desse grande e misterioso assalto. Nada disso é explicado, o filme simplesmente termina e ninguém sabe a real motivação para ele ter existido (porque até como puro entretenimento ele falha), e se houver uma continuação (como está sendo cogitado)... É bem provável que tudo siga este caminho.
Narrativamente, o filme é realmente um desastre. Na tela, o elenco despeja um nível de atuação que é algo muito semelhante ao amadorismo e - *ironicamente* - o pior deles é justamente o protagonista (que é pessimamente interpretado pelo **Dave Bautista**... um ator de talento limitado e total falta de carisma). O time de coadjuvantes alterna entre o mediano e o ruim, desfilando performances de qualidades com níveis altamente questionáveis. O roteiro também não faz muito por eles, porque seus personagens são tudo o que você consegue imaginar em relação a clichês que estão presentes em filmes deste gênero, e não há o menor esforço em transformá-los em personagens minimamente interessantes ou engraçados.
Provando que é um diretor com nicho bem específico, Snyder esbanja seus talentos para criar cenas e acontecimentos de impacto visual cada vez mais estilosos (mas que no meu ponto de vista também são bem cansativos por serem previsíveis e, em alguns momentos, muito óbvios), barulhentos e neste filme, em específico, algo mais colorido e sonoramente mais poluente (considerando o fato de que o trabalho da trilha sonora aqui, é algo que é bem ridículo). Não parece haver o menor controle sobre o que está sendo feito neste filme... Apenas uma overdose de tiros, sangue e (muita) falta de bom senso narrativo. Sem dúvidas, é um dos piores trabalhos deste diretor (que eu já considero como um dos mais chatos).
***Army of the Dead: Invasão em Las Vegas*** é aquele tipo de filme que você não entende as razões pelas quais ele foi feito, mas que ainda sim, consegue ter alguns pontos que são brevemente interessantes, e provocativos (até um certo momento). No entanto, esses lapsos de criatividade são engolidos por uma sequência de erros e falta de profundidade que o torna em uma produção inerte, sem relevância e sem o menor carisma para conseguir conquistar os telespectadores (e eu acho que até mesmo quem gosta do trabalho do Snyder vai se decepcionar muito com o resultado final desse filme). Longo, cansativo e desnecessário... Três adjetivos se encaixam como uma luva para descrever esse novo projeto falho.
