All my life I have grown up playing Need for Speed in terms of racing games with real cars, with the occasional rally games whose name I really don't remember, I have heard a few times about Forza, but honestly it's a completely new experience for me, and I think it has been quite pleasant.

Forza Horizon 2 came out on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, I only had access to the old-gen version though (Xbox 360), however, despite the graphical differences it's at a fairly adequate level and that in my opinion compete with the best graphics on the console.
Forza is based more on vehicles than anything else, so we only play an anonymous character who was invited to the second Forza Festival, which takes place in the south of France, as you can expect in said festival we will participate in different events, we will earn money, and we will buy vehicles to continue winning and make even more money, as we complete a group of events, we can advance to another area to participate in the following ones, a detail about this is that the map is a kind of open world because we can travel freely through it in any of the vehicles in our possession.

Racing games always have as their maximum goal that we arrive in the first place, or finishing in the best possible time, however, I consider that Forza Horizon 2, despite having elements that make it very challenging, is made for different purposes, whether you're a casual gamer or someone who wants to crush the competition on maximum difficulty, there's something here for everyone.
As soon as we start we can choose a simple vehicle with which to start racing, then once we have more money we can choose from more than 200 different vehicles with a very open price range and with brands for all tastes, from a classic Volkswagen Bettle to a Lamborgini, each vehicle has a very faithful external and even internal modeling, as can be seen when activating the first-person camera, where we can appreciate the interior of each vehicle.

When choosing a car we also have different types of paint to choose from, there are the original ones in which said car went on sale as well as gradients and more customizable colors, we can also sell cars that we no longer want to have in addition to changing between them at all times from the pause menu, obviously this applies outside the races as it would not be very logical for this to be allowed while we compete.
Difficulty levels range from the easiest to the most extreme, and this is modifiable in each race, the greater the difficulty, the greater rewards we can obtain, even in each difficulty we have different parameters that we can modify to make our experience perfect to suit us, I personally only played with everything in normal because I considered it to be the "standard" experience.

One of those elements that some might call a blessing, and others a way of cheating, is the possibility of "rewinding" the game, that is, let's say we have 2 perfect laps in a race to crash due to carelessness in the third and finish in the last place, pressing Y everything will start to run for a few seconds in reverse, so we can re-join from that point and avoid that fatal error that made us lose the first position, if that point is not enough for us, we can rewind even more until we are satisfied, this works in racing and also in free exploration on the map.
I confess that I used the option a couple of times in some races, because my approach to Forza was more in search of something relaxing, and not really a challenge that made me cry blood, since I already had Dark Souls for that, and the truth is I think there is nothing wrong with it, after all if the game offers an option of this style there should be no problem with some people using it and others not.

Continuing with the “chill vibes”, from the beginning Forza Horizon 2 gave me that impression of being a game that tries to transport you in all possible ways to its world, which is very well designed and with an impeccable technical level, from that cinematic initial that leads to the start of the game, I knew it would be very likely that I would like it.
Other additions that seem relevant to me (the truth is there are many, so I will only say two) are the photo mode and the vibration. First, the possibility of taking photos at any time with such a graphic level becomes a delight for people like me who like photography, unfortunately I don't have any image that I have taken personally and that I can show you, but the amount of options that this photo mode offers is impressive and just adds a much more artistic touch to the overall game.
And the vibration, which honestly does nothing more than increase the level of immersion, as it varies according to the type of ground on which we ride, if we go on a road in good condition we will hardly feel that the control vibrates, but if we change to a road of stones this feeling will become evident, the same happens with the grass and other types of ground, in addition to collisions and drifts, obviously I get the idea that this is nothing compared to, for example, the "Rumble HD" of Nintendo Swtich or all the capabilities of the PlayStation 5's DualSense where even the triggers offer resistance depending on the game, but this is another matter.

Finally, radio stations, perhaps many think directly on GTA, and it's understandable since the system is similar, during races and exploration we can switch between stations that have different musical genres according to our taste, ultimately, we can choose to turn off the radio and play with our own music, which on the Xbox 360 can be done with any game.
Without a doubt, Forza Horizon 2 seems to me a very complete racing title and with an exceptional duration if we want to complete all the event categories, the only thing I regret is that I don't own a wheel to have the full simulation experience/arcade racing, but it's a safe recommendation for any motorsports lover.

Forza Horizon 2 salió en Xbox 360 y Xbox One, sin embargo yo solo tuve acceso a la versión de old-gen (Xbox 360), sin embargo considero que a pesar de las diferencias gráficas está a un nivel bastante adecuado y que en mi opinión compite con los mejores gráficos de la consola.
Forza se basa más en los vehículos que en cualquier otra cosa, por lo que solo interpretamos a un personaje anónimo que fue invitado al segundo Festival Forza, que se lleva a cabo en el sur de Francia, como pueden esperar en dicho festival participaremos en diferentes eventos, ganaremos dinero, y compraremos vehículos para seguir ganando y hacer aún más dinero, conforme completemos un grupo de eventos, podemos avanzar a otra zona a participar en los siguientes, un detalle sobre esto es que el mapa es una especie de mundo abierto pues podemos viajar libremente por él en cualquiera de los vehículos en nuestra posesión.

Los juegos de carreras siempre tienen como meta máxima que lleguemos en primer lugar, o en su defecto en el mejor tiempo posible, sin embargo, considero que Forza Horizon 2, a pesar de tener elementos que lo hacen muy desafiante, está hecho para diferentes propósitos, ya seas un jugador casual o alguien que desea aplastar a la competencia en la máxima dificultad, aquí hay algo disponible para todos.
Apenas empezar podemos elegir un vehículo sencillo con el cual empezar a correr, posteriormente una vez tengamos más dinero podemos elegir de entre más de 200 vehículos diferentes con un rango de precios muy abierto y con marcas para todos los gustos, desde un Volkswagen Bettle clásico hasta un Lamborgini, cada vehículo tiene un modelado muy fiel a nivel externo e incluso interno, como se puede apreciar al activar la cámara en primera persona, donde podemos apreciar el interior de cada vehículo.

A la hora de elegir un auto también tenemos diferentes tipos de pintura para escoger, están las originales en las cuales dicho auto salió a la venta así como degradados y colores más personalizables, también podemos venderlos autos que ya no queramos tener además de cambiar entre ellos en todo momento desde el menú de pausa, obviamente esto aplica fuera de las carreras pues no sería muy lógico que esto fuera permitido mientras competimos.
Los niveles de dificultad van desde lo más fácil hasta lo más extremo, y esta es modificable en cada carrera, a mayor dificultad, mayores recompensas podemos obtener, incluso en cada dificultad tenemos diferentes parámetros que podemos modificar para hacer nuestra experiencia perfecta a nuestra medida, personalmente solo jugaba con todo en normal pues consideraba que era la experiencia “estándar”.

Uno de esos elementos que algunos podrían llamar una bendición, y otros trampa, es la posibilidad de “rebobinar” el juego, es decir, digamos que llevamos 2 vueltas perfectas en una carrera para chocar por un descuido en la tercera y terminar en el último lugar, presionando Y todo empezará a correr unos segundos en reversa, por lo que podemos reaunar desde ese punto y evitar ese error fatal que nos hizo perder la primera posición, si no nos basta con ese punto, podemos rebobinar aún más hasta que estemos conformes, esto funciona en las carreras y también en la exploración libre en el mapa.
Confieso que usé la opción un par de veces en algunas carreras, pues mi acercamiento a Forza fue más en busca de algo relajante, y no realmente de un reto que me hiciera llorar sangre, pues ya tenía Dark Souls para eso, y la verdad no creo que haya nada malo con ello, a fin de cuentas si el juego ofrece una opción de este estilo no debería haber ningún problema con que algunos la usen y otros no.

Continuando con una partida “chill”, desde el principio Forza Horizon 2 me dio esa impresión de ser un juego que intenta transportarte de todas las maneras posibles a su mundo, el cual está muy bien diseñado y con un nivel técnico impecable, desde esa cinemática inicial que da lugar al inicio del juego, sabía que sería muy probable que me gustara.
Otros añadidos que me parecen relevantes (la verdad hay muchos, así que solo diré dos) son el modo foto y la vibración. Primero, la posibilidad de sacar fotos en cualquier momento con semejante nivel gráfico se vuelve una delicia para personas como yo a las cuales les gusta la fotografía, lamentablemente no tengo ninguna imagen que haya tomado personalmente y que pueda mostrarles, pero la cantidad de opciones que ofrece este modo foto es impresionante y simplemente le da un toque mucho más artístico al juego en general.
Y la vibración, que sinceramnte no hace más que aumentar el nivel de inmersión, al variar según el tipo de suelo sobre el que rodamos, si vamos sobre una carretera en buen estado apenas sentiremos que el control vibra, pero si cambiamos a un camino de piedras dicha sensación se hará evidente, lo mismo ocurre con el cesped y otros tipos de suele además de las colisiones y derrapes, obviamente me hago la idea de que esto ya no es nada comparado por ejemplo a la “Vibración en HD” de Nintendo Swtich o todas las capacidades del DualSense de PlayStation 5 donde incluso los gatillos ofrecen resistencia según el juego, pero esto ya es otro tema.

Finalmente, las emisoras de radio, quizás muchos piensen directamente en GTA, y es entendible pues el sistema es similar, durante carreras y la exploración podemos cambiar entre emisoras que tienen diferentes géneros musicales según nuestro gusto, en última instancia, podemos elegir entre apagar la radio y jugar con nuestra propia música, cosa que en el Xbox 360 se puede hacer con cualquier juego.
Sin lugar a dudas, Forza Horizon 2 me parece un título de carreras muy completo y con una duración excepcional si deseamos completar todas las categorías de eventos, de lo único que me lamento es de no poseer un volante para tener la experiencia completa de simulación/arcade de carreras, pero es una recomendación segura para cualquier amante del automovilismo.
