La mañana llegó, llegó de una vez, y Marcos demoró en darse cuenta de que hoy no tenía que ir al trabajo. Había pedido sus vacaciones y tenía toda una semana para organizarse en su nueva vivienda y en su nuevo barrio. Mientras se preparaba el desayuno, unas tostadas francesas con un zumo de frutas, alguien tocó el timbre. En lo que demoró desde la cocina a la sala, quien había tocado a la puerta desapareció de una vez. No había nadie, solo un sobre amarillento sobre la alfombra. Marcos tomó el sobre entre las manos y lo primero que notó fue lo frío que estaba, más frío que cualquier objeto en el ambiente. Marcos no prestó atención ninguna, simplemente colocó el sobre sobre la mesa y continuó en sus tareas cotidianas. Arregló algunas puertas y ventanas de la casa, y al mediodía, cuando ya estaba cansado de todas las faenas, decidió recostarse un rato. Y ahí estaba, sobre la mesa, en el mismo lugar donde lo había dejado, el sobre que le fue entregado por la mañana.
Marcos tomó el sobre entre sus manos y volvió a notar la frialdad del papel amarillento. Era un sobre amarillento, pero se veía y sentía la calidad del satinado papel. No había ningún remitente en el sobre, pero sí tenía escrita en una bellísima letra cursiva a tinta su nombre completo. Abrió el sobre solo para encontrar una tarjeta un poco más reciente que, escrita a máquina con tinta dorada, decía: **"ESTA NOCHE TU VIDA CAMBIARÁ"**, todo escrito en mayúsculas, haciendo que se sintiera como si la tarjeta le gritara en la oreja, pero no un grito de terror y tormento, más bien un grito melodioso.
Intrigado, Marcos comenzó a examinar el sobre, cada rincón de la hoja. Lo rompió y desdobló en busca de cualquier indicio del remitente, cualquier dirección, pero no había el más mínimo registro. *"No queda otra,"* pensó Marcos mientras decía en voz alta:
*"Debe ser alguna especie de broma."*
Así que decidió hacer lo que cualquier persona normal haría: lanzar el sobre a la chimenea. Pero segundos antes, vio cómo un contenido antes oculto se revelaba en tonos amarillos ante el calor de la llama del fuego de la chimenea. En el sobre había dibujado con tinta invisible, que reaccionaba al calor, un plano de su casa. Con todo el contenido revelado, Marcos examina a conciencia cada centímetro del mapa. Todo parecía normal, un simple plano de su nueva casa, pero había algo que lo intrigaba:
*"¿Qué es esto? ¿Este cuadrado es una habitación?"* - dijo en voz alta mientras un escalofrío recorría toda su espalda y le erizaba cada vello del cuerpo.
Subió al piso indicado de la casa y vio que solo en el lugar marcado en el plano había una pared, nada de puertas, solo una sólida pared. *¿Y si detrás de la pared había algo?* No lo parecía, hasta que golpeó la pared y vio lo hueca que era.
Marcos bajó corriendo a la cocina y tomó el martillo que estaba usando en la mañana. Subió las escaleras a toda velocidad y, con el martillo, comenzó a golpear la pared. Una brisa de aire lo golpeó en su rostro. Y al cabo de varios golpes y al crear un agujero por donde podía pasar, se vio ante un vestíbulo gigante, que era imposible que estuviera ubicado en los adentros de su casa.

*"¡ES IMPOSIBLE, IMPOSIBLE!"* - dijo Marcos en voz alta, y el eco del gran vestíbulo hizo resonar su voz.
Con miedo, Marcos decide avanzar por el vestíbulo, saca su teléfono y ve que no tiene señal:
*"Debe ser el grosor de las paredes,"* - piensa, así que decide encender la linterna.
Y ve ahí las paredes llenas de antiguos cuadros y armaduras oxidadas. Al final, una gran mesa y en ella rastros de una cena pasada. Sobre la mesa, un cuadro despintado de una familia. Sus vestimentas y poses hacen recordar las épocas pasadas de un libro de historia. Marcos observa cada uno de los rincones y se abren solas grandes cortinas, mostrando la luz de la luna:
*"Imposible,"* - vuelve a decir Marcos - *"estoy dentro de mi casa… ¿o no?"*
Ahora ya no necesita la linterna; la luz de la luna se filtra entre los cristales de los grandes ventanales y se siente observado, observado por miles de ojos invisibles. Entonces Marcos lo ve, otro sobre amarillento como el primero. Y dentro de él, una nota dorada: **"Bienvenido de nuevo."**
*"¿De nuevo?"* - susurra Marcos.
De repente escucha unas carcajadas escondidas que hacen silencio cuando comienza a buscar de dónde provienen. La risa lo guía a una nueva habitación. En ella ve una fotografía y casi cae al ver el rostro de quien estaba posando: era él, pero usando una ropa y en un lugar que no recuerda haber visitado.
Sobre una mesa cercana hay un libro del cual siente un gran magnetismo. Al abrirlo, ve algo que lo deja atónito: su nombre escrito cientos de veces con cientos de letras distintas y al lado, fechas, muchas fechas.

Al rotar su cara, ve un espejo y detrás del espejo, una figura fantasmal. Marcos corre, corre en busca de la salida, pero no la encuentra. No encuentra el agujero en la pared ni encuentra puerta alguna que no lo lleve a una nueva habitación. Marcos se tira al suelo y, entre lágrimas, siente a alguien acercarse. Ve su rostro repetido en sombras que desaparecen, dejando atrás otro sobre. En él está escrito: **"La casa te ha escogido de nuevo. Para escapar, tienes que recordar."**
