For a long time, we have talked about and demonstrated the importance of education for our children and even for ourselves as part of our personal and professional development.
We have talked about many things, but today I want to expand on this topic a bit and refer to artistic education as an essential element in the learning of children and young people.
First of all, art is a medium that allows us to perceive and, I might even say, translate life with greater depth, since it is done, mostly, through our emotions.
The practice and consumption of art, in any of its forms, makes human beings more sensitive, more understanding, more imaginative, less rigid in their thinking, and more empathetic.
Therefore, it makes us better people.
Art offers us a new form of expression. Through the many artistic manifestations, we can not only communicate with others, but also gain insight into ourselves.
Art, by its very nature, fosters imagination and prepares us to search for solutions and methods that are not at all schematic.
In other words, it improves our problem-solving skills.
Art improves the social skills of those who practice it. Therefore, using art in general education programs will provide a significant quantitative and qualitative increase in students' social skills in the short and long term.
Art helps people with autism interpret emotions and situations.
Art also has a significant impact on the brain, especially in children. Or rather, especially if it is practiced from infancy.
This will impact their entire lives.
What is first evident, from the first few weeks, is a reduction in stress. Art is a stress reliever par excellence.
Art activates multiple areas of the brain that benefit various organs and systems in our body.
We've already talked about children's imagination, understanding, and improving their analytical skills. Now I'll focus on the more physical aspects.
To give just one example, music activates what we might call the emotional brain.
When we listen to, sing, or play music, our bodies produce and release the so-called happiness hormone: dopamine.
This is the cause of the feeling of well-being and joy we experience when listening to upbeat music.
However, the limbic system isn't exclusively associated with happiness, but with all emotions, so don't be surprised if we also feel like crying out of sadness, nostalgia, or anger.
The limbic system also causes the release of endorphins. These have a positive effect on our immune system, regulate blood pressure, and, as I mentioned earlier, eliminate stress.
Artistic education is also beneficial for improving memory. This is essential during school years.
There are studies on diseases like Alzheimer's that use music to evoke memories and improve memory.
The effect of art on the brain is vital for a child's development. Although our schools don't include it, I believe that we, as parents or guardians of our children, should ensure that they engage in some form of artistic expression.
The brain is where we receive and interpret all the information that comes from the world. The more active we are, the better our cultural heritage will be and the better tools children will have to build their future.

Durante mucho tiempo hemos hablado y demostrado la importancia que es la enseñanza para nuestros hijos e incluso para nosotros mismos como parte de nuestra superación personal y profesional.
Hemos hablado de muchas cosas pero hoy quiero complementar un poco este tema y referirme a la enseñanza artística como elemento imprescindible en el el aprendizaje de los niños y jóvenes.
En primer lugar, el arte es un medio que nos permite percibir e incluso podría decir que traducir la vida con mayor profundidad, ya que se realiza, mayoritariamente, a través de nuestras emociones.
La práctica y consumo de arte, en cualquiera de sus manifestaciones, vuelve a los seres humanos más sensibles, más comprensivos, más imaginativos, menos rígidos de pensamiento y más empáticos.
Por lo tanto, nos vuelve mejores personas.
El arte nos brinda una nueva forma de expresión. A través de las múltiples manifestaciones artísticas, no solamente podemos llegar a comunicarnos con otros, sino también a llegar a conocernos nosotros mismos.
El arte por esencia propia fomenta la imaginación y nos prepara para la búsqueda de soluciones y métodos poco o nada esquemáticos.
O sea, mejora nuestras habilidades para solucionar problemas.
El arte mejora las habilidades sociales de los que lo practican. De ahí que utilizar el arte en los planes de enseñanza general, proporcionará un gran incremento cuantitativo y cualitativo de las habilidades sociales de los estudiantes a corto y largo plazo.
El arte ayuda a interpretar emociones y situaciones como a los autistas
El arte, además, tiene una gran incidencia en el cerebro; sobre todo en el caso de los niños. O mejor dicho, sobre todo si se practica desde la infancia.
Esto repercutirá en su vida completa.
Lo que primero se evidencia, ya desde las primeras semanas, es la disminución de la carga de estrés. El arte es un antiestresante por excelencia.
El arte activa múltiple zonas del cerebro que benefician varios órganos y sistemas de nuestro organismo.
Ya hablamos de la imaginación, la comprensión y mejoría de la capacidad analítica del niño. Ahora me centraré en los aspectos más físicos.
Por solo poner un ejemplo, la música activa lo que podríamos llamar el cerebro emocional.
Al escuchar o, cantar o tocar música, en nuestro organismo produce y libera la conocida como la hormona de la alegría: la dopamina.
Esa es la causa de la sensación de bienestar, de alegría que tenemosnal escuchar temas alegres.
Sin embargo, el sistema límbico no está asociado exclusivamente a la alegría, sino a todas las emociones, así que no te extrañe que también nos den ganas de llorar por tristeza o nostalgia o nos enojemos.
El sistema límbico también causa la liberación de endorfinas. Estas influyen favorablemente en nuestro sistema inmunológico, regulan la presión arterial y como dije anteriormente, eliminan el estrés.
La enseñanza artística también es beneficiosa para mejorar la memoria. Algo imprescindible durante los años de estudio.
Existen estudios sobre enfermedades como el Alzheimer que utilizan la música para poder evocar recuerdos y mejorar la memoria.
La acción del arte sobre el cerebro es vital para el crecimiento de un niño. Aunque nuestros centros educativos no lo incluyan, creo que nosotros, como padres o tutores de nuestros hijos, debemos preocuparnos porque practiquen alguna manifestación artística.
En el cerebro es donde recibimos e interpretamos toda la información que viene del mundo. Mientras más activo lo tengamos, mejor será nuestro acervo cultural y mejores herramientas tendrán los niños para construir su futuro.
