Hello, everyone! Welcome to my blog. This is me, @ivorydawn, and it is my first time to post my travel blog here. Let me share to you the time when my friends and I visited the one of the most known mystical islands in the Philippines, the Siquijor Island. Siquijor Island is located at Negros Island Region in Visayas. The island is known for its folk healing and witchcraft. People around the world travel to Philippines just to experience this majestic island.
If you plan to travel to Siquijor, might as well give you some tips for free. Hehe kidding aside. Anyways, you can take a Roro or a fastcraft from Dumaguete City Port to Siquijor Island Pier. The fare ranges from ₱300 to ₱500 or $5 to $9, depending on what kind of vessel you choose. Travel time will approximately take 40-50 minutes. My friends and I decided to take the Roro instead, since it was more affordable than other sea transportation options.
When we arrived at the Siquijor pier, we immediately rent a motorcycle since we don’t have a vehicle to use for an island tour. Motorcycle rent price ranges ₱300 to ₱500 or $5 to $9, depending on what type of motorcycle you are going to rent.
There are many accommodations to choose from when you get there. Room rates range from $17.92 to $53.75 per night, with air-conditioned rooms suitable for two people. If you're a backpacker, there are also plenty of budget-friendly options available with cheaper price. But as for me and my other friend Joy, we decided to stay at Kamp Aninipot located at Barangay Road, Siquijor with an overlooking view of the island. I fell in love with the place the moment we arrived.
After we went to our accommodation and dropped off our bags, we decided to start exploring since there was still time before it got dark.
While on our way to explore the island, we came across a place to eat because we were already starving from the trip. This place is called Monkey Business. I ordered a burger and to my surprise, the burger was huge that I could barely finish it. Haha the place is 8/10 for me.
On the second day, before we headed off to our first destination on that day, we decided to dropp off first at Old Enchanted Balete Tree at Lazi, Siquijor. There you can see a natural spring flows from its roots into a man-made pool.
The pool is stocked with doctor fish (Garra rufa), giving visitors a soothing fish spa experience that gently nibbling dead skin off your feet. It really tickled my feet! Hahaha The entrance fee there is ₱20 or $0.36.
We then excitedly headed to Cambugahay Falls that has three-layered falls. But before you get to the falls, you need to brave steep stairs and slippery rocks, because getting there can be tough. But the place makes up for it with exciting activities like the Tarzan swing and Balsa (Bamboo) rides. You can also get enter the cave hidden behind the falls. Perfect place to cool off, unwind, and enjoy nature. By the way, there is an entrance fee of ₱50 or $0.89 per person but definitely worth it.
After we went to Cambugahay Falls, we then went to Paliton Beach located at San Juan, Siquijor. This is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the island. Paliton Beach is known for its white sand, clear blue water and the sunset? Wow, absolutely amazing and breathtaking! I swear, your stay won’t be complete if you don’t get to visit Paliton Beach. Hehe You must see it for yourself!
On the last day, before we headed back to our home in Negros Oriental, we went to Larena Triad Coffee Shop, a popular spot in Larena, Siquijor and is known for its fantastic views. You can order food there and I can say that their Halo-Halo is superb!
There are still a lot of places you can explore around Siquijor.
I hope that next time I visit, I’ll be able to share even more about this beautiful island. There is something about this island that will really make you say, "I'll definitely be back soon."
