### Serendipity
##### When you get answers to questions that you did not even ask.
It was while browsing through [my sister's Facebook picture with our mother,](http://www.bestadsontv.com/profile/137592/elizabeth-dias) that I was reminded that Mum specifically loved [_Tea for Two_.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_for_Two_(song)) I also thought that this was a good way to further introduce the Steemit community to some part of my background & to where I come from.
##### Serendipity.
I regret that I had never asked her why when she was alive.
So, I began my quest to get into her head.

After listening to it on a phonograph, conductor [Nikolai Malko,](http://www.morethanthenotes.com/read-the-book/nikolai-malko) in 1927 challenged composer [Dmitri Shostakovich](http://www.newyorker.com/books/page-turner/julian-barnes-and-the-shostakovich-wars) to compose an arrangement of _Tea For Two_ . Malko wagered 100 roubles for Shostakovich to re-orchestrate the song from memory in under an hour. Shostakovich won; in 45 minutes. His "Tea for Two" arrangement, _Opus 16_, was incorporated into the _Tahiti Trot_ in his ballet _The Golden Age_.
