I also can only recommend the dustsweeper - until your 1% vote value is >2c 😃. Then you don´t need it anymore. And indeed voting after 24h decreases your curation rewards by 1/3. After 3 or 4 days it is even more, as far as I know. So ideally you should vote only within 24h after the post. By this your curation APR gets >8%. But yours is not too bad either (https://hivestats.io/@cryptothesis) And I keep my voting power always around 90%. Not meaning that this is better, just I have good experience with it.
