I've created a graph showing the number of snaps in the past few weeks. 
We've seen a steady growth which declined last week. 
Week 51 seems to be a bit calmer too with less then 3 days left.

Interesting graphic; thanks for putting this together! 

I expect the recent decline is *(at least partially)* connected to the approach of the holidays... people are off doing *offline* things more than usual; gifts, decorations, preparations, parties, travel...

I don't think people stop snapping when the Hive price goes down. 
It might have more to do with certain actions like the holozing or worldmappin.
