Bitcoin vs. Ethereum transaction fees ⛽

Transaktionsgebühren Momentaufnahme am 23. Februar 2021 (13:11 UTC+1):

Ethereum-Transaktionen kosten mittlerweile (trotz aktuellem Krypto-Blutbad) deutlich mehr als Bitcoin-Transaktionen und je nach Smart Contract können sogar Gas-Fees von einigen Hundert Dollar anfallen.

Dies verunmöglicht Microtransaktionen und viele kleine Anwendungen (DApps) wie das Minten von kostengünstigen NFTs / CryptoArt.

Aber auch Uniswap-Transaktionen und DeFi machen bei kleinen Beträgen (sagen wir unter 1000 Dollar) kaum noch einen Sinn.

Eine einzige erfolgreiche DApp (wie CryptoKitties) reicht aus, um das gesamte Ethereum-Netzwerk lahmzulegen.

Blockchains skalieren im Moment nicht sehr gut, da alle Transaktionen der gesamten Welt im Prinzip auf einem handelsüblichen Computer abgewickelt werden.

Das ist gleichzeitig die große Stärke von Blockchains (Dezentralität, Niederschwelligkeit, Zensur-Resistenz) aber auch einer der größten Schwachpunkte.

Andererseits wird bereits seit Jahren an Wegen geforscht, wie man Blockchains skalierbar machen kann und trotzdem dezentral bleibt.

Bitcoin versucht dies mit einer Second-Layer-Technologie (Lightning), während Ethereum an ETH 2.0 und Sharding arbeitet.

Ethereum transactions now cost significantly more than Bitcoin transactions (despite the current crypto bloodbath) and depending on the smart contract, gas fees of even a few hundred dollars can arise.

This makes microtransactions and many DApps and small applications like minting low-cost NFTs / CryptoArt impossible.

But also Uniswap transactions and DeFi hardly make sense anymore for small amounts (let's say under 1000 Dollar).

A single successful DApp (like CryptoKitties) is enough to clog the entire Ethereum network.

Blockchains don't scale very well right now, as all transactions of the entire world are basically processed and stored on a single commodity computer.

This is both the great strength of blockchain technology (decentralization, low barrier to entry, censorship-resistant) but also one of its greatest weaknesses.

On the other hand, research has been going on for years on ways to make blockchains scalable and still remain decentralized.

Bitcoin is trying to do this with second layer technology (Lightning), while Ethereum is working on ETH 2.0 and sharding to accomplish this.

Man muss sich es halt wirklich vorstellen, 183$ für eine Transaktion. Das hat leider nichts mehr mit etwas zu tun was alle nutzen können ohne Einschränkungen und zumindest für mich machen Kryptowährungen dies aus.
ETH 2.0 muss schnell kommen sonst könnte es echt düster für ETH werden.

EIP 1559 –  Ethereum?

Damit sollen die hohen Transaktionsgebühren behoben werden, die das Netzwerk am Wachstum hindern.

Denke nicht, dass EIP1559 die hohen Gaspriese beheben wird, da das eigentliche Problem die Verstopfung des Netzwerks ist. Wirkliche Abhilfe kann nur eine echte Skalierung wie die Erhöhung der Blockgröße oder Sharding schaffen.

Ethereum schaufelt sich da sein eigenes Grab. Mal sehen, ob die Leute Geduld haben werden, bis ETH 2.0 kommt. Viel Volumen wird an andere, wie z.B. Binance verloren gehen.

Richtig, sehe ich auch so! ETH war am Anfang ein gutes Projekt, aber das verleidet einem alles. Werde mich schnellstmöglich von meinen ETH trennen und in eine Alternative gegen und das möglichst mit einer Transaktion!

Aber trotzdem hat Ethereum ordentlich zugelegt in den letzten Wochen. Aber die Gebühren sind für mich ein Grund eher andere Projekte zu beobachten. Allen voran BSC, Cardano oder auch polkadot.
